Ordinary people who want to work in the production side of the industry are expected to be prepared for the reality that behind the scene work is tougher than appearing in front of the camera. While these people would be aware of the knowledge and skills required from them, the difficult part is dealing with celebrities.

Part of gaining experience is through applying as an apprentice, and most often, interns or even fresh graduates end up as production assistants of the production itself or individual actors in the project. Production assistants are important as they attend to the needs of the production, which should, of course, be related to professional matters. Sadly, some celebrities think differently when it comes to treating production assistants.

Whenever Frugal Talent (FT) is on the set, the assigned Production Assistant (PA) could only sigh, as he/she knows how the taping will go. FT relies on the PA for every detail of her need. She would ask the PA to get her water, coffee, etc… frequently. FT treats the PA like her personal slave, rather than assistant. One time, there were leftovers on the set, and FT told her PA to wrap all the remaining food so they could give the food away to stray dogs and cats.

As most PAs are studying mass communications, FT does not care at all. As far as FT is concerned, she is the star and has the power to make PAs follow her. This kind of treatment has made PAs feel low, and among themselves, they know that they do not deserve such treatment from FT. They do wonder why someone who is compassionate over animals can treat the ordinary people around her like filth. Unfortunately, as the PAs need the experience, they would just have to grin, bear it, and make sure that FT will not throw a fit.

Incidentally, despite her numerous projects, FT seems to be quite stingy, and thus, the production people are not too keen on FT. They know that she will not be generous at all. Nonetheless, all production people want to be treated with dignity and work within professional boundaries.

Imposing a Condition

Agreeing to star in a film might seem to be an easy task for any celebrity, as this film could make him/her famous or recognized with an award from local and international bodies. However, most celebrities today would rather look at the material first before committing their time and risking their reputation.

In the case of Award-Winning Actress (AW), the moment she read her script, she realized she could test her acting skills with the demands of the role. Briefly, the role was destined to be noticed by any award-giving body and AW was presented with the opportunity for such recognition. Incidentally, the producers allegedly had another actress in mind, but this actress was too busy with her other commitments. Besides, she will never let go of such commitments for the movie, anyway.

Unlike her contemporaries, AW grew up in the industry, but only went in front of the cameras when she was confident about her looks. Her teenage years gave her an unflattering figure, and thus, she had to prepare physically for her entry into the entertainment field. Years after her first appearance, she is still a definite headturner and is pleasant to watch onscreen.

Nonetheless, the role was too demanding in terms of how much of her body she has to show in the movie. The circumstances in the movie required her to show that much flesh. This part gave AW a problem, as she admitted to having stretch marks that could be easily picked up by cameras. AW requested a certain special effect to hide the imperfections of her body. Luckily, the production team was understanding and gave in to her request. Her supposed nude scenes were not to show her real body.

The request of AW surprised many people in the team, as they realized that AW still had insecurities as far as her body image is concerned. At least, AW was humble enough to admit that she was not perfect and she graciously trusted that the director will adhere to her request. Soon after the film was completed and competed, AW got her acting recognition. .

With Liza Soberano confirmed as Darna in the movie directed by Erik Matti for Star Cinema, the guessing game has shifted to who her leading man will be, with several names mentioned as “most likely.” It was The STAR that broke the big story about Liza’s bagging the coveted role that has been played by more than a dozen big stars, including Angel Locsin.

According to Funfare’s DPA, as of the moment (no last-minute changes, hopefully, knock on wood!), tapped to play Liza’s leading man is none other than her screen (and soon-to-be real-life?) sweetheart Enrique Gil. This piece of “breaking news” should belie rumors that the LizQuen tandem would be temporarily broken up while another actor would be Liza’s Darna partner.
