Not a Pleasing Reaction

When relationships do not work and a child exists as testimony to the one time that his/her parents loved each other, matters have to be ironed out for the sake of that child. So many couples in and out of the entertainment industry have found themselves in situations where one becomes a single parent or as some celebrities put it, as co-parents. What is admirable is that these former couples have placed the interest of their child ahead of theirs despite their differences.

Sometime ago, the breakup of a young celebrity couple disappointed many of their fans who had hoped that they would end up with each other. Talented Actor (TA) and the Attractive Celebrity (AC) were slowly building their careers and learning the craft when latter had to take a break from the business. This decision was a painful one because she was just starting to take on serious roles and gain ground in her network’s roster of competitive talents. However, pregnancy was a delicate matter, and AC opted to take care of her body and that of her coming baby. Meanwhile, TA was unsure of the direction where his career was heading. He has a name that was easy to recall, but his breaks were not giving him enough clout in the industry.

Love can leave as fast as it came, and soon age and immaturity got into the picture. In a matter of time, the couple called it quits and went on their separate roads, but with Their Child (TC) as their priority. TC was raised by AC, but TA was given a schedule as to when he could visit TC. Years passed and TC was growing into a fine child.

TA was proud of what he was seeing in his child, and he thought his occasional presence was enough to make him part of the consciousness of TC. He was wrong. In an event, TC recited a prayer that included AC, but left out TA. When TA realized he was missing, he kept quiet and would have let the incident go. However, TC went back to the center again and recited a prayer and this time, TA was mentioned. TA smiled after, but he was so embarrassed because it highlighted that he was not included in the schema of TC, who had to be coached to include his name. Disappointed, TA could not really do much, as TC was under the care of AC. Although both have become mature emotionally and have established careers that would make them feel secure, the circumstances prove that they could never reconcile, as they have found new people to love.
