The Actor’s Lack of Empathy

The key to having a successful home is the quality of help that the owner manages to bring in. For most celebrities, a support system from househelp or close family members is ideal. The celebrity can focus on his/her work and not have to worry on matters related to running the home. The only responsibility the celebrity has is to make sure that his staff are well compensated, which includes having shelter, food, and appropriate salary.

Sadly, the household of Inconsiderate Celebrity (IC) is far from ideal. When IC went on location for almost two weeks, he did not leave any food nor budget for his staff. Naturally, the meager personal resources of his staff were depleted and they had no guarantee that IC would even bother to reimburse their expenses. Thus, the staff had to do with whatever they could find in the house.

Because IC has been buffing up lately, he has kept himself on strict diet and has his own food in the pantry. That side of the pantry was off limits to everyone but himself. When the staff realized that there was nothing more to eat in the house, they ate the food of IC in his off-limits area.

When IC came back from his taping, he was shocked to see that his food was gone. He reprimanded the staff and told them they should have resorted to other means and not touch his supply. This attitude is not at all surprising, as IC has been known to be rude, tactless, and inconsiderate behind the cameras. His network has done much damage control to hide his true self. The helpers were offended and that was the last straw. After all, IC has not been treating them well enough anyway. Thus, half the staff left, as they found the behavior of IC insulting and could not stand him anymore.

Later, the Reel Partner (RP) of IC came to visit. RP noticed that the staff was down to half the original number and she could not help but ask. The remaining staff then revealed what happened. As there was no food left, they decided to touch the supply of IC. However, they had to bear with the bland and tasteless food that IC kept for himself. As she listened to the story of the remaining helpers, she could not believe what she heard. Nonetheless, RP could not do anything, but listen. As someone who came from nothing, RP knows the feeling of hunger and she could only imagine what happened as the staff suffered because of IC’s unmindfulness.
