Singer in Doubt SD has been in a quandary for a time now. While she is undeniably talented, SD is often besieged by self-doubt and insecurity about herself. Oh well, she can’t be blamed for feeling that way. SD knows that her network is a haven for gifted artists and being on the stage with them can really overwhelm and puts one under pressure.
In a segment of their Top Rating Show TS, SD gets to sing with greenhorn but otherwise talented singers TS1 and TS2. These two are powerhouse singers who can give anyone a run for their money. And like SD, too, who is a product of talent search, TS1 and TS2 are likewise contest survivors.
However, SD has not been comfortable singing with TS1 and TS2 for the longest time, as it becomes like a showdown every time. SD always gets compared with the two talents - and she’s just tired of all the harsh comparison. It’s a no brainer – the comparison is always to SD’s disadvantage.
Indeed, netizens often react with SD’s singing, pointing to it as bland, out of tune, emotionless, even her diction takes a beating. In contrast, viewers give very positive/encouraging commentaries to TS1 and TS2, especially TS2 who critics say already poses as a threat to the more established talents, SD included. Although TS1 and TS2 may be considered veterans in various singing competitions, their stars only shone brighter after joining a search where they gained confidence even more.
TS1 is praised for her vocal prowess and unique singing style. TS2 is touted to be the next big thing, reportedly a total package for her looks alone, with effortless stage presence and vocal performance to boot. Thus SD, who is not supposedly as superior, finds singing with them a big letdown for her.
Thus SD reportedly found a way out of this when she requested production to take her out of the trio, and asked instead to sing with the veteran singers of the show. SD quipped that she’d rather be bashed singing with veterans than with newbies TS1 and TS2. There goes her angst..
