Heading for a Meltdown?

Sometime ago, Seasoned Performer (SP) got the flak for posting a photo of someone’s left over lunch and implied that the person who left it was ill-mannered for leaving such in the dressing room. Unfortunately for SP, who ranted about that incident incessantly, the leftover food belonged to the network’s hottest star (HS), who apologized and said he had no intention to not clean up. However, SP ignored HS, and disregarded the lad’s apology. The network bosses did not let this incident pass and called the attention of SP, who had no choice, but to apologize to HS and his multitude of fans.

Apparently, SP has never learned from that incident, and still is not thinking before clicking. Without getting into details, SP apologized during his guesting on an evening show of his network. The reason for this apology was, again, his irresponsible ranting over his social media account.

A few days ago, the press immediately picked up his rant of dealing with same old routine, with same people, and even went to the extent of comparing certain people with monkeys. The implication of the statement, which he allegedly posted during the time when he was rehearsing, earned the ire of the production staff. Naturally, SP denied such claim, and said that he was referring to the crew of his unpleasant flight from down south. Nonetheless, the production staff did not believe him, and so did most of the press. Within the days that followed, SP was lambasted over his reckless rant in media.

While no one was surprised at his crass manners, what was more controversial was his gall to make such a statement allegedly against the production staff of the show that has given him much exposure. SP allegedly has issues with the show. First, he hardly has a solo number and he’s always with an ensemble or in a duet. Second, he does not feel comfortable singing with the latest and youngest performers. He would rather not sing with the big winner (BW), as BW is off-key, and prefers another finalist (AF), as AF is a better performer. Third, SP felt that he deserved a welcome after being away for a series of concerts abroad, but none was given. Moreover, SP felt that he was a victim of the show’s politics.

In a wider context, the fuzz was that SP’s rant was seen as attacking the network itself, as the show is considered one of its flagship productions. The negative repercussions were untimely as SP still had several concerts in line, and if the production decides to lessen his exposure, then, that might put his career into oblivion. Given all the possible outcomes, SP had to apologize if he wants to keep his career in the network.

The question is why SP is getting to be very vocal in his opinions. Does this attitude have something to do with not being able to be his alleged true self in public? With hundreds of thousands followers, any statement or photo SP posts will definitely raise varied reactions, and the least he could do is to exercise responsibility. Of course, if SP only wanted to generate controversy and tell the public that he’s back, then posting in his social media accounts is a good strategy to reestablish his presence.

The greater the controversy, the more you need manners. –Judith Martin

Cristine Reyes Finally Admits She's Having a Baby

Note: Last August 31, Fashion PULIS wrote a blind item about this entitled "Can She Really Be Pregnant?"

Why Cristine Reyes Kept Pregnancy a Secret

Cristine Reyes finally broke her silence on why she decided to keep her pregnancy a secret.

Reyes admitted she is pregnant during her “ASAP” guesting earlier on Sunday.

In a live interview hours later on “The Buzz,” Reyes explained that she chose to wait because it was a delicate pregnancy.

“[Ngayon ko lang sinabi] kasi nandito na ako sa stage na sure na 100% na safe ako and my baby because 'yung first three months ko po na akala ng lahat nagtatago ako, critical 'yung stage ko. Advice ng doctor na kailangan bed rest kasi nagkaroon ako ng bleeding. Kailangan ko alagaan 'yung sarili ko. ['Yun ang dahilan] kung bakit hindi ako nagwo-work,” she said.

The 25-year-old actress said the pregnancy did not come as a surprise for her and her boyfriend because they actually planned it.

“Kaming dalawa ni Ali (her boyfriend) magkasama, nag-test kaming dalawa. We are happy kasi it was planned and it’s not a surprise. First test namin, morning 'yun. Akala namin negative pa so na-sad kami. Nung gabi nag-test ulit kami, positive na. After that, ang inuna namin 'yung family namin. They were happy and excited,” she said.

Now that the news is out in the open, is she worried that this might affect her career?

“Yes but confident naman ako na kahit anong mangyari, babalik at babalik ako. I know nandiyan ang ABS-CBN for me, hindi rin po ako papabayaan ng Viva,” she said.

“Sa akin kasi I’m happy and content na sa lahat ng nagawa ko, lahat ng na-achieve ko sa buhay ko and career ko so wala naman akong wino-worry,” she added.

Reyes said she and her partner are planning to tie the knot after she gives birth.

“[Nagme-marriage counseling na po kami] in preparation po for the marriage and para meron kaming heads up. Hindi lahat kailangan biglang ikakasal na agad. Kailangan meron kang knowledge about it, kailangan prepared,” she said.

Ara Mina Denies Cristine Reyes' Pregnancy Last September 10

"Natatawa lang ako. Kasi siguro in-assume rin nilang buntis din si Cristine kasi buntis ako, buntis ang sister ko," she said in an interview on Tuesday.

Ara is six months pregnant with her long-time partner Bulacan Mayor Patrick Meneses. This is her second pregnancy after having a miscarriage in December.

Though Cristine's pregnancy is not true, Ara told reporters that her younger sister already wants to have a child.

"Si Cristine naman, inaamin naman niyang gusto na rin niyang mag-baby. Very open naman siya do'n, pero sabi ko nga sa kanya, 'paunahin mo muna ko!'"

"So baka next year siya," she added, joking.

Ara also defended her sister, after the latter walked out in an event when she was asked about her rumored pregnancy.

"Siya talaga pag ayaw niya, ayaw niya," Ara said describing her sister's personality. "Sana maintindihan ng iba, 'yong iba naman kilala na ugali ni Cristine, e."

Now that Ara's expecting a baby girl, Patrick is very strict when it comes to her health.

"Nag-bed rest ako, hindi naman kailangan pero careful na si Patrick kasi ayaw na niyang maulit 'yong nangyari dati," she said. "So hindi ako masyado nagtatanggap ng guestings, 'di ako masyadong nag-work."

Although she's part of the TV5 musical series "Trenderas," where she portrays a mom to Lara Maigue, one of the lead stars.

"May cut off ako," she replied when asked if she has limitations when it comes to work. "Pero hindi na nga natutupad 'yong cut off kasi maaga pa nga sa cut off 'yong tapos ng taping ko. Tsaka very magaan ang trabaho, tsaka mommy lang naman ang role ko, mas marami silang eksena."

Joining Ara and Lara in the show are Isabelle de Leon, Katrina Velarde, Tina Paner, Dingdong Avenzado, Rez Cortez, Carl Guevarra, Edward Mendez, Kitkat, K Brosas, and Cacai Bautista.

"Trenderas" will start airing on Saturday, September 13, 9p.m..
