Not Much of a Pleasing Personality

Looking back at the history of Philippine showbiz, handlers were introduced to assist local talents only recently. Prior to having handlers, most talents only had a manager or even conducted their dealings personally. While having an organized setup is key to success, these handlers and overbearing managers often influence the outcome of the career and the attitude of fans. Hence, the talent has either a skyrocketing career or an imminent downfall.

Take the case of the team of this showbiz newbie (SN), who is just starting to make a name for himself after his stint in a reality show. During the reality show, SN was being paired off with Intriguing Daughter (ID). Hence, their partnership attracted some fans who rooted for them. During one instance, SN and ID were together in a school tour. Some fans were able to get a backstage pass, and were all excited at the opportunity to see the pair up close and personal.

Unfortunately, the fans got entangled in something they did not expect. One of the companions (OC) of SN blocked them and told them they are not allowed to have photos with SN. Meanwhile, ID was just around and smiling at them. ID even approached the fans to talk to them. To make matters worse, OC was overheard saying that it should just be ID who should approach them, and not SN. Allegedly, OC does not want SN to be partnered with ID. He wants either one of the big winners of a reality show or the daughter of two equally talented parents to be SN’s screen partner.

While ID kept her friendly showing to the fans, SN behaved otherwise. As the talents were going onstage, ID waved and smiled at the fans who were calling her. By contrast, SN did not even bother to turn back to look or to even smile at the audience.

The fans were too dismayed at the behavior of SN and his team. As a showbiz starter, who has yet to prove himself, he obviously lacked charisma and the proper decorum to keep his fans. If SN and his team want to last long, they should start playing the time and tested strategy of the network, which is to please the fans. Regardless of time, fans still have the same simple requests, namely, for their idols to be amiable, to smile at them, and pose for a photo or two.

With his attitude as well as his team’s, will SN even establish his name?

Jollibee Delivery is the Worst!

At 8:22 pm I dialed 8-7000 Jollibee Delivery to place an order. I was informed that my order will arrive in 30 to 45 minutes. An hour later, at around 9:30, I called back to follow up my order. I was shocked when the operator asked me if I was willing to wait for another 45 minutes because of the high demand.
