Between Honor and Greed
What was once unheard of has
now become part of the system among network, manager and talent. At the
very least, this maybe classified as inside corruption with the talents
getting the short end of the deal.
Top
network executive NE is relentless in making extra, big bucks at the
expense of its many talents. NE squeezes every possible opportunity to
milk talents at all cost. NE's usual connections are the talent managers
TM of these stars.
First,
NE talks to the TM’s to raise the talent fees TF of his stars by 15%
more so that there would be room for NE's commissions which is exactly
that - the padded 15%. NE tells TM's that the extra 15% is the
additional amount they would charge that will be shouldered by the
clients/ producers for all the projects of the talents. It really sounds so
off for NE to be doing this owing to the image that the network
projects.
Although
extremely bothered, some TM’s take it blindly, citing survival as the
main reason. But not so for this noted talent manager NTM who although
beholden to NE for the projects given to his talents, is feeling the
pinch and consequence of this ‘under-the-table’ transaction. Certainly
such is not for the best interest and is counter-productive for his
stars as clients will look elsewhere to get better deals.
It
is for this reason that NTM wanted to move out his major talent MT to a
rival network RN. He had some press release about the matter and wanted
to telegraph his strong sentiments to NE that the deal will never be
acceptable to him.
Anent all this,
will NTM finally make good his word to transfer his other talents
elsewhere? When will NE realize that a lasting legacy is far more
important than everything all those 15% can buy?
"Greed is a bottomless pit which exhausts the person in an endless effort to satisfy the need without ever reaching satisfaction."

Big Lust and Chivalry are Not Always Rosy

A Head of robust City HC is getting dragged into a scandalous situation months into the election. HC is often seen with a very much Married Personality MP who denies that he is married, such that both he and HC are bold enough to be seen in public. But that is not the catch of the story. HC who is holding an elective post in a vibrant city is being intimate with MP whose very questionable background can break HC's political and moral reputation big time.
It was alleged that MP who is oozing with moolah showers HC with nothing but the best. Recently, he made an indecent proposal to her. Both of them went on an expensive holiday enroute to an Asian city on a private jet. It was a red carpet treatment all the way. Obviously, HC was beyond awed by all the trappings that went with that redezvous.
Amidst all the couple's excitement is a third party who is not exactly rejoicing - yes, MP's Wife is furious. And the subject of her fury is not limited to her husband MP but more heavily on her perceived enemy - HC. The unmarried HC (marriage annulled) is now under the scrutiny of the Wife. Everything about her and MP reaches the Wife like greased lightning.
If the Wife gets justice from this, how traumatic and unfortunate it would be for HC's political future to be sullied that way. Indeed, hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. You, better get that.

Letter from a Reader: My Pricey and Disapointing Experience
Dear Fashion PULIS,
I've
been a regular reader of your bi's and I would like to share my own.
This is about my experience in a popular celebrity's PC publicized
restaurant - her new business venture .
PC's
close relative CR is the one manning it and she also does the cooking and
serving herself. CR has a handful of helpers, too, but
it is really she who approaches tables and will keep asking customers
and offering other food selections in the menu.
As we arrived in the restaurant, we were given free tea. To be fair, it
tasted real good, it's lemon grass with honey, and CR said it is a
house-concoction. As we were thinking of drinks to order, CR offered us
their organic drinks. When when we ordered fruit
drinks, we were disappointed they didn't have any available. What they only had was
pomegranate which was tasteless and very pricey at P330 per glass!
Then I said to myself this is like paying for the "free" tea already, what do you think? Clever!
While we were eating, we were also getting disappointed at the same time as all the food that we ordered in the menu were not anything special at all,
even bad tasting to be honest about it - feeling like it was cooked by
someone who was clueless in the kitchen.
Then CR also offered us a crab dish, a small one and with hardly anything in it, deep-fried and priced at P450. Then the soup - hot and sour - good for one at P350 and really bland with just water and nothing more.
The restaurant's only saving grace is their specialty - the noodle dish - a generic dish most popular among Pinoys.
The
place is pretty enough, although small in size but cozy. RE said she is very
hands-on, even does the marketing herself, a full-time job for her. She
said she's hardly in showbiz gatherings anymore.
Then when we
finished eating, my adult child wanted a photo with CR, but she
declined. She said she's shy, and not a celebrity. She said it's only PC
who can indulge in photo op, but PC was nowhere. Then she just vanished
while we're still not done. Talk about PR and customer relations.
My family's not-so-good
experience with the restaurant was something that happens to
everyone. But what made it different and the one that left a mark was the
demeanor of the person behind it. It was an experience getting to know
the character, the closest one to PC - it really speaks volumes. I told my friend who
wanted to try it to be smart and be guided.
But wait, here's the bomb - the receipt given to us
was just a small piece of paper! Yes, no Official Receipt for such a huge
bill we paid?!
Thank you, FP! It felt bad, yet I wanted to lighten it up and share with your readers. Cheers!
Truly yours,
Connie

Just Rockin' and Shakin'

It is not everyday that a star can feel so happily content
and blessed with a great career and family at the same time. The girl's personal life is
blissful inspite of the rumored dalliances of her husband HB. To a certain extent, she has an enviable life, so to speak.
TV actress and endorser AE can proudly say she feels both
blessed and blissful. She has a young family, a husband to die for and
beautiful kids. Once teased for being chubby and a lousy dresser, AE has metamorphosed into
a sexy and refined, sophisticated lady. With her looks alone, one can
safely say she can give any younger actress a run for her money.
AE keeps a small group of friends who she sees to unwind and bonds
with regularly. Despite the busyness of her schedule, she and her
friends make time. In one of their gimmick days, AE was in the mood to share her most intimate secrets with
her friends.
While they were on the subject of s**, AE shared a tiny bedroom
detail with her friends. She was actually complaining of her partner’s huge
appetite for s**. AE is quite worried how to keep up and go along with HB’s
libido without her “precious gem” PG getting deformed from all his unstoppable pounding
and drilling. She said she wouldn’t want
it disfigured so soon as she is still quite young. Her friends were shocked and laughed so hard to
hear such a bold revelation from her.
AE further added that she's now seriously considering using
the backdoor as HB’s entry point. Sure it will hurt in the beginning, but she
told friends it would get better with practice. And with a rabbit-like HB for
a partner, AE knew that the rapid firing will still be the same. After all,
backdoor entry has been there for a long
time becoming even more popular as more and more 'girlies' come out of their pink
closets. Wanna bet?

Anticipated Ending of a Soap
A few months into the airing, it seems that advertisers were not too keen on AS. Although the actors did their best, TS had a hard time projecting the right emotions. In other words, TS was not too great in the acting department, and did not register well on screen. Chemistry among the leads was amiss, too.
AS was then moved to another timeslot to give way to another soap. Immediately, the ratings dropped, which surprised everyone. Currently, AS is swinging from one- to two-digit ratings. Meanwhile, there are talks that a new soap, which was originally meant for primetime, might replace AS soon. Will TS be given another acting project or should the network enrol her first in more workshops to hone her talent further before giving her another?

Good Riddance or Great Loyalty?
Second, top performer (TP) is also another talent who is rumored to have an offer from the same network. However, no word has been released by the camp of TP if he will be doing the great plunge. If he does, then his current network will lose a great entertainer, and his shows will have to find someone to take over to fill his creative genius.
Third, controversial actor (CA), who has spent almost his entire career with his current network, has a contract that will expire by mid-year. While he is considered as one of the talents most gorgeous looking hunks, his career seemed to be at a standstill as his exposure has been very minimal since his last TV project. While speculations are pointing towards getting a contract with network B (NB), there really is no big contract being dangled at CA. NB is not keen on hiring CA as the network anticipates potential problems that might come with his management. His management is not known for keeping matters quiet.
While, network C (NC) is also a possible new home, NC is not keen on CA as he is not that famous or could command as much interest as he did when he was just starting out. CA is also caught in a controversy in which he has opted to deny and to keep quiet about an alleged possible addition to their family.
Who will remain loyal? Who will leave? Who will MN let go, SA, TP, or CA?
Reality dictates, “It is the logic of consumerism that undermines the values of loyalty and permanence and promotes a different set of values that is destructive of family life" (Christopher Lasch).

Poll: How True are Angelica Panganiban's Allegations about the Issues Surrounding Her Break-up with Derek Ramsay?
MANILA, Philippines -- Angelica Panganiban's six-year relationship with Derek Ramsay ended over the phone.
In an interview in the April 2013 issue of entertainment magazine StarStudio, the 26-year-old Kapamilya actress recalled the day when the model-actor allegedly broke up with her after years of unresolved conflicts.
According to Panganiban, Ramsay was in Boracay for a professional commitment and vacation when they had an argument over the phone some time in February 2012.
The actress related that in the heat of their argument, Ramsay suddenly asked her: "Ano ba'ng nararamdaman mo?"
Panganiban recalled saying that she prefers addressing the question personally, once he gets back from vacation, but Ramsay pushed for an answer.
"Wala. Wala na 'kong nararamdaman," she responded.
Ramsay's only answer, according to Panganiban was: "Okay, it's over."
In the years leading up to their separation, the former celebrity couple had to grapple with several problems that later proved difficult to handle.
Among them, Panganiban related in detail to StarStudio, were three major conflicts -- Ramsay's being allegedly a controlling boyfriend, his supposed lack of support for the actress' mission to find her biological father, and his reported marriage to a certain Mary Christine Jolly in 2002.
On the set of the romantic-comedy movie "Every Breath U Take," which she was filming at the time of the breakup, Panganiban said she cried uncontrollably.
"Hindi ko alam kung naiiyak ako dahil nasabi ko siya. Yes, para talaga akong nakatakas, ganoon 'yung pakiramdam ko, pero at the same time, angsakit-sakit. Hindi ko alam kung tama, kung kaya ko panindigan," she said.
The following day, Panganiban recalled, she moved out her things from the house she had shared with Ramsay for five years, with the help of her mother Annabelle.
When Ramsay learned that the actress had already picked up her belongings from their shared home, the actor, Panganiban recalled, messaged her: "Let's fix this."
But for Panganiban, the breakup was a way of finally being set free. Refusing her former boyfriend's plea, she told herself: "Hindi, may way out ka na, nakalabas ka na. Huwag ka nang bumalik."
Ramsay confirmed his separation from Panganiban in May 2012.
In the April 2013 issue of StarStudio, out in newsstands now, Paganiban also retraces her beginnings as an actress after 20 years in the industry. She also recalls her romance with former boyfriend Carlo Aquino, and opens up on her relationship with current partner John Lloyd Cruz.
