Downplaying A Scandal
Barely months into a position, a well-known family is now rocked with an embarrassing accusation. The alleged scandal has now become a social media feast. While damage control is being attempted, the story has leaked and consequently placed people in high places in an awkward state.
A few days ago, a Prominent Personality (PP) was part of an advanced party to make sure everything would be in place when the VIPS arrived. The hotel where the entourage was supposed to stay was to be checked and that was where the supposed incident happened.
Allegedly, PP could not control his attraction when a Hotel Staff came in the room to do her job. PP did something to HS, which prompted her to report PP’s actions to her boss. As a result, authorities placed PP in their control. When the embarrassing incident reached the VIPs, they fumed as a scandal was the last thing they needed. Cancelling the trip was out of the question and the VIPS went on as scheduled.
However, face-saving had to be done. The incident was initially denied but another thing happened that seemed to have added credibility to the scandalous story. People connected with PP were allegedly no longer allowed to join the VIPS.
So now, the said incident is still being downplayed. Perhaps, the alleged perpetuator and his team hoped that their silence would lead to the death of the shameful act rumor.
‘And scandal has a way of catching up with those who disregard its power.’ − Rachel Field

Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo happily announced yesterday that she is now a legal resident of Spain after making a real estate investment of at least 500,000 euros (approximately P30 million) in an apartment in Madrid.
Bea looked radiant and refreshed as she and Alden Richards arrived in Cebu City to promote Start-Up PH which will have its last few episodes in December.
The actress said she just came from long vacation in Europe and the highlight is her getting the Golden Visa, a loose term for the Spanish Government’s Residency by Investment (RBI) program.
“Galing ako sa isang mahabang bakasyon. 26 days, almost a month. Kakauwi ko lang this week from Europe. The reason why I went there was because I wanted to get my Golden Visa to Spain, so am now a resident of Spain,” Bea revealed.
As a Spain resident, Bea is not required to stay in Spain but she can travel visa- free through the Schengen area of the European Union. This benefit can extend to her mom, Mary Anne.
Bea can also work in the continent and apply for citizenship after two years.
“Yung Spanish government kasi, if you have a certain amount to invest sa real property nila, you will be granted a Golden Visa which means you are automatically a resident. After two years, you can apply for citizenship which am not gonna of course, but, at least, there is that option,” Bea narrated.
“I’ve always been fascinated with the idea of living abroad. But not because I already have a place there doesn’t mean doon ako titira. Of course, am gonna live here (Philippines). It just so happened that I love Madrid, I love Spain and I have a lot of friends there,” the actress added.
We asked Bea if she is interested to work in Europe as an actress and she said she can consider it “but it’s not something I’ll be actively pursuing.”
“Parang ilan lang ang oras. 365 days lang sa isang taon. Wala na akong oras,” the busy actress replied, laughing
Bea admitted that travelling is her “guilty pleasure,” it is how she unwinds.
“You’re working on yourself because you’re always a work in progress. So when you travel, you expand your horizons, you discover so many things about the world and, therefore, you can see the world from a different perspective. It’s also about working on myself and my mental health,” she noted.

Repost: Former Actor and Decathlete David Bunevacz Sentenced to Jail for 210 Months by a California Court

Former Fil-Am actor and decathlete David Bunevacz was sentenced on Monday (US time) by a California court to jail for 210 months or more than 17 years.
Bunevacz, 53, of Calabasas, California, was convicted of one count of wire fraud and one count of securities fraud.
US District Judge Dale S. Fischer ordered Bunevacz to pay $35,267,851 in restitution for scamming investors in business entities he put up such as CB Holding Group Corp. and Caesarbrutus LLC.
Bunevacz claimed these companies were involved in the cannabis industry and engaged in the sale of vape pens which contained CBD oil and THC.
According to the court document, Bunevacz was able to raise $45,227,266 from more than 100 victim-investors.
However, he misappropriated majority of the funds to finance his opulent lifestyle including a luxurious house in Calabasas, Las Vegas trips, jewelry, designer handbags, a lavish birthday party for his daughter, and horses.
A former UCLA decathlete who competed with the Philippine national team, Bunevacz “preyed on individuals who believed he was their friend,” Judge Fischer said.
The “seriousness of [his] conduct cannot be captured in mere dollars and cents," he added.
Judge Fischer said Bunevacz continued with his scheme even while serving probation for a state court conviction. “Not even a criminal conviction and the threat of jail convinced [Bunevacz] to become a law-abiding citizen," he said.
On July 18, Bunevacz agreed to plead guilty to one count of securities fraud and one count of wire fraud.
He was arrested on April 5 and has been in federal custody since then.
Court documents showed Bunevacz told at least one investor that he had a Chinese manufacturer of disposable vape pens and had obtained “raw pesticide-free oil” that was sent to a “lab that infuses the flavors into the oil with our proprietary custom process that renders the vape flavoring smooth and discrete.”
He also provided investors with forged documents to show that the businesses were successful.
According to the court, Bunevacz registered various shell companies and listed other individuals including his stepdaughter as corporate officers.
He concealed negative information from his investors such as his felony conviction in 2017 for the unlawful sale of securities, according to an affidavit filed in support of a complaint in this case.
“The sense of violation, the assault on personal dignity, and the lasting trauma [Bunevacz] has caused are very much reminiscent of the harm typically associated with violent crimes,” prosecutors said.
“And, with well over a hundred victims, [Bunevacz] caused these harms at a scale rarely seen," they added.
The court did not grant Bunevacz' lawyer's request to shorten the jail sentence due to his client's health condition.
Bunevacz is set to serve his sentence at a California state prison. —with a report from Dave Llavanes Jr./KG, GMA Integrated News
