Repost: PMGen Debold M. Sinas Apologizes for Holding Birthday Celebration Amidst ECQ

National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief Major General Debold Sinas has apologized for allowing his men to throw a surprise birthday party for him at their police camp despite the ban on mass gatherings while Metro Manila remained on lockdown.

"I apologize for what transpired during my birthday that caused anxiety to the public. It was never my intention to disobey any existing protocols relative to the implementation of enhanced community quarantine," Sinas said in a statement sent to reporters on Wednesday, May 13.

NCRPO cops held a surprise birthday party for Sinas on May 8 to celebrate his 55th birthday. They gave a mañanita – an early morning serenade – for Sinas then they dines together without observing physical distancing, breaking quarantine protocols.

Sinas said he was fully aware of quarantine rules and had ordered his subordinates to follow them.

"They (NCRPO cops) were told to observe social distancing and other precautionary health measures. They were also told not to linger and prepare for the simultaneous relief distribution NCR-wide that day," Sinas said.

The Metro Manila police chief also said some posts circulating on social media were "edited" and from "old posts" but did not specify the social media pages or accounts where the supposed old, edited photos appeared.

The photos used by journalists who wrote about his birthday celebration were taken from the official Facebook page of the NCRPO posted on May 8, his birthday, but the post was no longer available as of Wednesday.

The PNP has launched an internal probe against Sinas and NCRPO cops. Interior Secretary Eduardo Año had also weighed in, saying what the top police official did was a "big no-no." – Rappler.com

Family Elder (FE) noticed that Actress Daughter (AD) seems to be in low spirits. FE was worried about AD being depressed as a result of the pandemic. FE started to talk to AD and assure her that she’ll always be behind her decisions. AD tried to keep silent to make FE not feel worry over her thoughts. However, FE coaxed AD to reveal the reason behind her low morale.

AD confessed that she expected Her Partner (HP) would propose to her before the pandemic. After all, they have been together for quite a while and she found out that through a male friend about HP’s proposal plan. Allegedly, the supposed proposal should have happened weeks ago, but nothing materialized. The lockdown made the situation even more uncertain and AD’s excitement fizzled out.

Subsequently, AD revealed to FE that many things are filling her head, such as doubts if HP really intended to propose and settle down with her permanently. The current state of her career is another concern of AD. Prior to the pandemic, she had no steady project and endorsement. Sometimes she even has to seek the assistance of HP to get work. 

The comparison between prior to and during HP was inevitable. Before AD hooked up with HP, she was one of the hottest celebrities and her projects came one after the other. However, with HP in the picture, AD became synonymous to negativity. With the ongoing work stoppage, AD has no job security, as she is no longer the network's priority. 

FE even raised that she noticed HP spending too much time responding to AD’s bashers and joking with his pals online. FE did not want to pursue the issue further, as she did not want to add to the woes of AD. If and when HP will meet AD’s expectation remains to be seen.
