Making Sure

Experienced Actress (EA) is in a precarious position these days. Her role in a network’s top series was not supposed to go very far, as the original plot allegedly had her character killed off. With no project in sight, EA’s source of income would have been cut and add to her financial woes. EA, then, had to think of a solution fast or else she might fall into the trap of despondency again.

Humbly, EA talked with Influential Talent (IT), who might be able to persuade the management to extend her role in the series. EA admitted that none of her children is giving her support, as they fear she would just use their money to fend for her other needs. They told her to stop her habit and stay away from casinos. However, EA did not take their word seriously and now, instead of relaxing through her older years, she has to work harder. Similarly, her management gave the same condition, that is, if she gets involved in anything prohibitive, the opportunity given to her will be revoked. Sadly, the effects of substance abuse are seen in her acting and facial expressions.

Taking a chance on IT’s value to the network, EA explained her situation. She could not ask any financial help from IT, as she has been allowed to stay in IT’s home without rent. IT understood the situation of EA and promised to see what can be done on her part.

IT approached Top Honcho (TP) to intercede on behalf of EA. TP was very much aware of the past and present life of EA. TP knows about the bad habits of EA that almost ruined her career. In the same breath, TP also knows the competence of EA and a good actress is hard to turn down, which is the reason the network considered her for the role. IT suggested if the project could incorporate the role of EA in the story, instead of killing her off immediately. EA would continue fixing her life to ensure she will not let the station down.

Things were resolved and IT managed to touch the heart of TP. EA is still working and her character is still alive in the project. Of course, the question of whether EA has truly turned her back away from her bad habits remains to be seen.
