Make it Good

A major realization of newbies wanting to make a career in the local entertainment industry is the need to be part of a network’s stable of talents. The thousands of auditionees in various talent contests of networks attest to this belief. By being connected with a network, a newbie is assured of training, appearances, possible endorsements, and hope that he/she will make it big. Many of the present top talents in the networks are the proof that a nobody can become a huge name by being part of a network.
However, for every rule, there is an exception and the way things are unraveling in the career of Former Talent (FT), the rule seems to be in effect. The move of FT to leave his Old Handlers (OH) surprised many industry observers. Most had the opinion that FT might have grown tired of waiting for that big break, as he has been with OH for many years. His start was quick and his name was built up enough for recall. The momentum was not sustained. As soon as FT was gaining ground, the network started to promote new talents, who had more followers. FT was sidelined and the projects never came.
After sometime, FT was back at his old home and acting in another hit project. His return was another surprise, as the network is known to leave out in the cold, talents who have decided to leave them. Allegedly, FT made sure that even if he made the move, he would not lose his position with his powerful OH.
As an attractive young man, FT was the apple of the eye of an OH, who happens to be influential. FT knew how to play the game and give in to what OH wants. OH was appreciative given that FT was very much gifted. Hence, OH assured FT that even if he moves, he will be assured of projects as long as he makes OH reach the happiest state. Apparently, the attraction of OH on FT can be traced to the lineage of the young man. OH had a teen crush on someone way up the family tree of FT and seeing FT was like seeing that crush in his prime. Well, FT is lucky because despite having talents who happen to be more loyal than he is, OH gave him a major role, and now, he has to prove that he can indeed make it good.
