Pride Recoil
Sooner or later, the clash was going to happen and when the time came, Humbled Actor (HA) realized he had to back off or risk losing everything. In a controversial segment of a well-watched program, HA asserted his decision to make a contestant move on to the next round. However, as the decision needed all members of the panel to agree, HA was left alone as the other members disagreed with his argument.
The debate continued because HA did not bother to budge and emphasized that the contestant needed all the help their show could give. As the discussion continued, HA was basing his judgment on the tragic experience and circumstances of the contestant rather than the vision of the show. The other members cited that the show was based on capability and not charity. Moreover, other contestants were more deserving to be promoted than the one being pushed by HA.
Apparently, HA felt insulted and continued to rant. After a few minutes, he stood up and walked out. He even threatened to back out of the show. He must have forgotten that along with him in the panel was Powerful Insider (PI), who can influence the outcome of shows and talents of the network.
After sometime, Production Head (PH) talked to HA. Prior to the talk, the production already met and made decisions. HA learned of the talks and thought hard. What reached HA was that the production was ready to go on with the show without him. Adjustments can be made and his presence can be negligible in the show. In other words, the program can run on its own without HA being missed.
Then, in another angle, HA found out that his other project can be affected with his attitude. The storyline can be written out for his smooth exit. His character can be killed or simply disappear, as the story does not really revolve around his character alone.
The worst consequence that could possibly happen is that the network might decide to ban him. There would be no press release for that, but merely a silent memo that can cover even the other businesses of the network. In short, HA realized the truth that he is not indispensable, and without the exposure come a potential loss of income as well as a means to reach out to a wider base for his personal endeavors.
All is well, as HA swallowed his pride and apologized for his outbursts and threats to the production. However, his moment in the show might have already been edited out and loyal followers will only see that everything turned out well.
