Go Follow or Else

Often, when an actor does several roles, there is a tendency to favor one over the others. For instance, when celebrities are asked which among the roles they have played they loved, they would usually reply with the roles that they found challenging or those that have given then recognition. Usually, these roles contrast with their lifestyle behind the cameras. Most actors look forward to playing offbeat roles as testament to their acting ability.

In the case of Pretty Talent (PT), her preferred role became obvious given the effort she exerts to portray that character. One might expect that PT would opt for one that could bring out the best in her, but that would not be her choice. Between playing the role of a wealthy versus poor person, PT would, hands down, choose the former.

The production crew noticed that PT would have that different glow whenever she would play a character from high society, someone who lives in a mansion, or a personality who has immense economic power. She tackles her role with enthusiasm. Such attitude is the opposite of her disposition when she must portray someone from the lower class.

In one of her projects, PT needed to go to a slum area to make her poor character believable. As the location managers chose the poorest area in the region, PT could not say anything. However, her actions showed she was unhappy and without saying anything, the crew felt PT was going to give them a hard time. They were right.

As soon as she arrived, she noted the stench coming out of the area, the dirty kids running around, and the flies that would land every so often. Other pests were expected, as the house the production rented fit the character’s background. PT told the production to do something to the stench and the pests. She allegedly told the team to sanitize the area or else. She was obviously serious with her request. As every delay would mean extra production costs and earn the ire of the production heads, the crew had no choice but to follow her directive. Thus, the area was sanitized and the smell of a popular disinfectant filled the air, just so to please PT.

‘If you request for a little time to fulfill a commitment, you're accused of being arrogant. I repeat, I've achieved nothing to be arrogant about.’ - Kriti Sanon
