Now that top young stars of a network are moving on to more mature roles after proving their worth, the scramble for their successors is becoming a highly contested competition among the wannabees. As the network has narrowed down these talents in a rich pool of beautiful faces and depth of talents, everyone knows that only the one who stands out will be the next important star of the network. Even if these new talents show camaraderie in front of the camera, behind the scenes is fierce competition.
Given that the network is taking the loveteam route to find out whom among the new talents can amass fans, such partnerships are affecting even their personal lives. Fans are very much aware that something is not wrong whenever they notice unfollowing and cryptic remarks in social media. However, the first rule in showbiz is to never reveal personal feelings as such revelations can make one vulnerable.
When Female Discovery 1 (FD1), who came from a talent search, realized that her loveteam with Cute Singer (CS) is in jeopardy, she immediately did an obvious action, that is, she unfollowed Female Discovery 2 (FD2). Incidentally, unlike FD1, FD2 had an easier time entering the network, as she did not have to go through any program. After her initial exposure during her younger years, the network noticed her appeal and was soon casting her in several shows. Even if her role was still in the minor league, FD2 managed to shine, and thus, was later on trusted with more significant acting assignments.
With her potential, fans started pairing off FD2 with CS, who at that time was supposed to be the partner of Pretty Actress (PA). However, CS was overshadowed by the presence of Male Discovery (MD), who had better chemistry with PA. Even if CS seemed left out, he is still in the middle of FD1 and FD2. While FD2, having been in the business longer, is cool with being paired off with CS, FD1 seems to be quite off with the idea. Allegedly, FD1 sees FD2 as a threat to her loveteam with CS, and FD2 has realized that attitude. If FD1 is not careful, her actions might be read as a form of insecurity. As always, the network can capitalize on an impending triangle among FD1, FD2, and CS.
‘Competition is always a good thing. It forces us to do our best. A monopoly renders people complacent and satisfied with mediocrity.’ - Nancy Pearcey
