Exuding Arrogance

Anyone who enters showbiz must be ready for fame, which brings in the fans. Veteran stakeholders in the industry know that fans can make or break one’s career. Thus, the behavior of the celebrity towards fans is crucial if one were serious to pursue a career.

Newbies should carefully consider the fan-models set up for the various loveteams. These days, fandoms are very vocal on the state of their idols. Loyal fans can be endearing and generous with gifts, attention, and loyalty. Sometimes, networks are bombarded by feedback coming from fans, and at time, the networks listen to proposals or suggestions coming from them.

While networks hope that their new discoveries can be wiser and have caught lessons on how to deal with fans, Male Newbie (MN) seems to have been absent during the briefing. After starting off his career with the foundation of followers, MN is now among the new breed of talents being groomed by the network. Lucky for him, his following has expanded and his being partners with Female Newbie (FN) is among the most watched loveteams these days.

Expectedly, MN should behave nicely towards fans and the like. After all, he is now easily recognizable. Unfortunately, MN is still not used to being approached in public places. In one event, someone approached MN for a selfie. Most celebrities would stop and give a few seconds for the fan. In the case of MN, he looked back and said, ‘NO!’ Then, he further added that he knows the person who wanted a photo with him, and thus, he walked away. People who saw his behavior were shocked. How could someone who has been in the limelight in such a short time already have an attitude?

Regardless of circumstances, MN should be gracious toward fans. Showbiz, as the cliché goes, is a hypocritical business. Celebrities need to have the smile plastered every time they are in public. Fans only know the image the celebrities exhibit, and thus, most fans would not care at all for any celebrity refusing to stop for a photo. Ironically, one bad incident like what MN did could lead to bashing. It’s not a good start for his career.
