You Have to be Professional to Last Long in Showbiz

One strategy to increase the recall of newbies is to book them in various shows in and out of town. The added presence of a newbie on stage and performing in front of an audience would increase the interest. However, the management of newbies usually plans where and when they should go. It’s not like a newbie will just be sent to any mall for a show. Several factors have to be considered.

When Attractive Talent (AT) was discovered, her management saw her potential. Not only is AT good looking, she also has talents other than acting that she could bank on. Today’s audiences do not want their idols to merely act, as they want celebrities to showcase other talents, such as singing, dancing, and hosting. In the case of AT, she has strong stage presence and could very well captivate the audience. Hence, it was not surprising that had a good start in the industry, but somewhere along the way, stardom was elusive. AT had to go through the rounds of major networks.

Between her network commitments, AT was booked for shows in several malls. Appearing in malls is one way to catch the attention of old and new fans. Whenever a stage is set in the middle of a mall, expect the curious to gravitate. Thus, the choice of where to perform is also dependent on the traffic of people in the venue. When AT was scheduled for a show, she was lined up with other performers, who performed ahead of her for various reasons.

When the host faced the audience, he built up the anticipation of the crowd by teasing them that AT was going to perform next. The crowd would scream AT’s name, but a lesser-known performer would come out. The audience was polite and played along. Finally, when the host was informed that AT was finally going to perform, he continued exciting the audience. The audience, comprising of AT’s fans and curious mall goers, followed the host’s antics.

Then, after delivering his lines, AT still had not come out onstage. The host had to think of more gimmicks to keep the audience interested. As time passed, the host was running out of things to say and had no idea of AT were going to come up. However, he was informed that AT was already at the venue, but AT seemed to be missing. The audience could only spend so much time, and some felt it was time to leave. After so many minutes, AT finally stepped on stage and performed in front of a thin crowd. The host could only stare at AT, and he could not say anything unless he wanted to earn the ire of AT’s loyal fans.

At the backstage, the host asked the reason behind AT’s late appearance. When he found out, he lamented her lack of professionalism. AT was already within the area, but opted to stay in an air-conditioned office because she wanted to make sure she was able to watch her series. AT was so engrossed in watching a show that she opted to finish the episode before going onstage. Unmindful of others, AT put her interest ahead. Thus, one should not wonder why her contemporaries are now reaping the fruits of their hard work, whereas AT is still trying to expand her fanbase.
