John Lloyd Cruz met with ex-girlfriend Angelica Panganiban during a recent trip to Hong Kong.
Cruz made the admission during an interview on Wednesday for his upcoming movie "Just The 3 Of Us" with Jennylyn Mercado, which opens in theaters on April 27.
"If you are asking kung nagkita ba kami ni Angelica, yeah. Napakaliit ng Hong Kong. Hindi ko naman siya iniiwasan, hindi naman niya ako iniiwasan. Siguro nabibigyan lang ng malisya given the history pero nagkita lang kami -- like kung paano ko nakita si Kuya Aga (Muhlach), si Ate Charlene (Gonzales), si Ruffa (Gutierrez) din. May picture pa nga kami, nagkita-kita kam isa isang gallery," Cruz told ABS-CBN News and other reporters.
"Wala naman po tayong iniiwasan sa buhay. Life is too short para mayroon kang gustong iwasan na tao, especially kung may pinagsamahan kayo. Wouldn't you want na magkaroon ng time to catch up," he added.
Asked to comment on rumors that he and Panganiban never broke up and are just keeping their relationship away from the press, Cruz said: "Sana kaya naming sagutin ang gustong malaman ng iba pero parang it's almost impossible kasi it's too personal. Naiintindihan naman namin how public our lives are pero para na din po maprotektahan 'yung natitirang kaunti para sa amin, eh nahihirapan kami to go into details."
"Pero we always try our best na ibigay sa public, sa inyo, 'yung kaya namin, 'yung maibabahagi lang namin and we are always trying to be as honest as possible. Kasi after all napakaliit lang ng mundo natin, hindi ba? Kahit pumunta ka ng Hong Kong, kahit Zimbabwe pa hindi ba mayroong makakakita at makakakita sa iyo and I don't think I want to live my life that way na nagtatago ako or may gusto akong ilihim because I'm a very practical guy. What you see is what you get. Kung mayroon akong mahal I'm not going to go shouting it to the whole world pero hindi din ako magtatago," he said.
The actor stressed that what is important is that he and Panganiban have remained friends.
He also admitted that he is taking his time being single.
"Pwede naman po siyang tumibok (ang puso mo) na para sa sarili mo," he joked. "Seriously, it's one of greatest discoveries na pwede mong ma-experience and it makes me excited. Kasi ang akala natin ang mga single, ang bibigat ng buhay, ang lulungkot."
"Actually naa-excite ako because kapag dumating 'yung araw na 'yon at mangyari ang mga pinaggagawa ko sa pelikula, mga look of love at may makita kang babae, it makes me excited kasi napakaganda ng pwedeng mangyari. It's a great opportunity kapag galing ka sa ganito and you look forward to that moment. Kaya ako nae-excite," Cruz said.
Asked if it will take him a long time to fall in love again, Cruz said: "Wala pong makakapagsabi kaya siya nakaka-excite because of the fact na pwedeng makapagsabi sa iyo kung kailan 'yon."

Breaking up with a celebrity like FC seems to be such a big decision to make. However, SP followed her family and with good reason. Because SP is not from showbiz, she has been identified as “the girlfriend of XXX,” which is not exactly good for establishing one’s identity. Then, SP might have finally accepted that her relationship with FC has always been in his favor. FC has an image to project and SP was the perfect person to fill that void needed to complete that image.
To prevent SP from being continually engaged in the programming of the image of FC, Someone Related (SR) had to break to her what he allegedly saw in a favorite spot somewhere south of the country. At a hotel, SR spotted FC checking in with Alleged Buddy (AB). While there seems to be nothing wrong with two handsome men in that place, SR knew better.
Sometime ago, FC and AB were rumored to be hiding their relationship. FC would lose most of what he has built in his career if a scandal would reveal his true nature. Thus, every detail of his trysts with AB had to be kept low. By contrast, AB needed all publicity to boost his career. However, involving FC was out of the question, and thus, FC had to move on his own. For a brief time, he succeeded, but eventually, that controversy might have affected his foothold in a network. Thus, he had to find another place for employment.
When SR realized that FC and AB might be doing something short of disloyalty, SR had to inform SP immediately. SP upon hearing the account was then warned that she might have the same fate as the actress, who very much hurt by her discovery of the true nature of her former significant other. With her family against pursuing her relationship with FC, SP had to face the lesser evil of ending her relationship.
