Official Statement of Karen Favis-Carlos, Glamworks Events Management

It is with regret that the Wedding of Jemerson Mamaril and Erin Santos last July 18, 2015 at Fernbrook Gardens, Daang Hari, Muntinlupa City did not go smoothly as it should be. My husband, Perry Carlos III, went to the event to personally see to it that the wedding, though not perfect, will push through as scheduled.

Majority of the suppliers were paid and settled on the night of the event, some were issued checks (that were cleared, suppliers can attest to this) to cover for their corresponding payments. I will forever regret the lapses that I may have committed, as it affected a lot of people.

The recent Facebook post as well as the number of shares, likes, reposts, as well as the bashers who, unfortunately, included my whole family, affected us deeply. Dragging my family into this mess was uncalled for, as we are already in touch with the couple’s lawyer since the evening of the event.

We are also looking into seeking assistance with the Anti Cyber-Bullying task force to see if something can be done about the malicious comments that arose from the post, given the fact that there was a photograph of my whole family with my then 1 ½ year old daughter in it.

I am not convicted of any crime, nor am I running away from any authorities.

I am seeking for the kind understanding of everyone to at least, give me a chance to straighten things out. I have been in the Wedding Industry since 2010 handling over 100 couples. I am not a serial scammer, a fly-by-night Coordinator nor a thief.

We look forward to settling this legally, without having to ruin my name and my family. Please spare some thought for my family, most especially my 3 year old daughter who is starting to understand what is going on in our household. It pains me so much to see her suffering due to the fact that I haven’t been tending to her the way I do. I would like to take this opportunity to thank people who saw best not to comment nor repost. That small act means a lot to us. Please continue to pray for us as we try our best to pick up the pieces.

Finally, I would like to apologize to the couple for the pain this has caused. I understand that I may not gain your sympathy, but please know, from the bottom of my heart, that I am truly sorry for what happened.

God Bless everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this.

Her Attitude on Soliciting Stuff from Online Sellers

Social media has led to the proliferation of business sites mushrooming into the accounts of celebrities. One glance at social media accounts and one could see “Permission to Post” messages that are not true to the meaning of the phrase, as the merchandise for selling has already been posted without actually obtaining prior permission from the account owner.

For sellers, taking advantage of free publicity via posting on the accounts of celebrities is a common practice. While the celebrity/owner is not really the target market, these sellers are reaching out to fans and other viewers of the said celebrity. While this strategy does not guarantee increased sales, online sellers, from the business angle side, do need to maximize their visibility.

Thus, when Pretty Newbie (PN) got in touch with an online seller (OS), the latter was elated. After all, PN might be the next big star of her network. PN allegedly said that she preferred certain items from the merchandise of OS. So, OS sent the goods to PN. Later on, PN called OS again and told that she wanted other stuff from the merchandise. As the previous action, OS sent the said goods to PN. Time passed and passed. PN had already used some of the items OS sent. OS waited and waited to be acknowledged by PN. The waiting was futile. PN never once acknowledge nor thank publicly OS, from whom she specifically requested for certain items.

Well, the risk was there and OS had to deal with the outcome. While the celebrity had indeed noticed the online store, the acknowledgement was not given. Was being noticed worth the cost of the merchandise? OS could call the attention of PN, but as an online seller, sometimes, hands are tied and complaining via social media might result in losing potential clients. However, if online sellers will not reveal how some celebrities are taking advantage, then such practice will remain a vicious cycle.

Incidentally, PN is still building a name for herself by playing anti-hero roles in projects with the big names of her network. PN has the looks for lead roles, but she is still too young to tackle more challenging roles that go beyond the teenage-love-triangle theme. However, someone has to advise her not to behave as though she is taking advantage of the privilege granted for those who have a bit of fame. Someone should tell her that once she accepts any products, she pays for them or does something in return.

It's about taking advantage of the opportunities you have right now, and right now we're in a position where you call somebody and they're willing to pick up and take the call because they're a fan, you have to take advantage of that and have a chance to capitalize on your ideas. - Dwyane Wade
