The Reluctant Celebrity

Imagine what would happen if a celebrity goes to a public place and no one minds him/her. Would being ignored make the celebrity happy, or would it affect his/her ego? What if no one wants to approach the celebrity because of the fear of being snubbed or receiving a mouthful about how that celebrity is having a private moment? For some people, a photo with an idol is worth the risk of being embarrassed by the celebrity.

In a high-end commercial area, Feeling Fabulous Actress (FF) was seen with her Low Profile Child (LP). FF and LP were doing a bit of shopping. Naturally, heads turned as FF and LP are hardly seen in such a place. After all, they are living so well that such a task could be deduced to a list and assigned to the househelp or bodyguards. FF and LP were dressed simply and although bodyguards were around, they did not follow too closely.

As the mother and child went from aisle to aisle, people admired how FF, regardless of the comments about her looks, walked like a queen. The many years she has spent in showbusiness were mostly filled with stressful intrigues, which she managed to overcome. The stress did not show in her face at that point. However, despite being recognizable, no one dared approach the two until one innocent shopper (OI) did the unthinkable.

OI, who was dressed in simple but branded clothes, approached FF. She introduced herself as someone who has admired FF. She then asked if she could have a picture with her, but FF gave a stern look. OI could have walked away, but she was overheard as saying that one of her friends happened to be close to LP. Upon hearing the name and the information, LP smiled and nodded at FF. It was only at this point that FF agreed to pose with OI. FF even smiled in the photo.

After the quick photo op, OI left. LP and FF walked away and continued what they were doing. However, unlike other fans of other celebrities, no one dared to approach them again for a photo.

Let the world know you as you are, not as you think you should be, because sooner or later, if you are posing, you will forget the pose, and then where are you? - Fanny Brice
