Her Bewildered and Confused Feelings

True friends are hard to find in showbiz, where most people think that others are merely acting out a role to gain their favor or that of fans. Actors often stress that they value their contemporaries and family who have been with them through thick and thin, and lament that many of their coworkers are merely projecting an image. The message here is that the audience should not immediately believe the image that an actor/actress shows when he/she is performing in front of the public.

Sometime ago, Sultry Talent (ST) visited a close family friend, Veteran Artist (VA), and they engaged in an interesting conversation. Over the years, VA saw ST grow up from an innocent-looking child into an experienced player in the business. Thus, she knew much about the heartaches and triumphs of ST. They talked and tried to catch up on the events that have transpired in their lives. VA provided a listening ear to ST. Her experience with children who are almost at the same age as ST had familiarized her with issues on family, love, and career.

As their conversation got deeper, VA realized that she was listening to the stories of ST that were already touching on family matters. Being a close friend of the family, VA was familiar with some of the details, and thought that nothing could shock her more. As she patiently listened to ST, VA realized that ST was already badmouthing one of her showbiz relations. In fact, the stories and the language used by ST dumbfounded VA, as never did it cross her mind that ST has so much angst.

Sadly, VA could not approach the said showbiz relation, as she does not want to add tension to the sensitivity of the situation. Allegedly, ST has been harboring issues for such a long time. Thus, the root cause has been embedded deeply in ST. On hindsight, VA could not help but pity the kin, who might become disappointed once she finds out what ST has been saying, and ST, who had become too sensitive over such issues in private, which contrasted her warm and caring image in public.
