Déclassé

Media Personality MP has been consistent – a lover of freebies, x-deals, and loves using her status and connections to get desired perks and cut corners.

Wherever she is, MP just can't help but squeeze every opportunity from any situation so she can get the maximum benefit from it. On her recent trip abroad, her lack of elan manifested itself on the entire trip. Reportedly, MP's fellow passengers were shocked as she began to make demands about the food, asking the flight attendants for additional stuff to be given to her. Not content with that, MP reportedly instructed the flight attendants to give her the toiletries and blankets that her fellow passengers left behind - a demeanor so akin to a first-time traveler.

One time, she was fortunate to get some complimentary tickets to watch the special screening of an immensely popular foreign movie. As expected, the lines were long when MP and her family members arrived . She obviously did not want to fall in line, so what did MP do? Acting like an authority, she walked briskly past the long line of people and went straight up to the front. She tried to look stern and intimidating so she would not be questioned. She did not mind the people in the long line that were staring at her, including some celebrities.

Even when dining out, some restaurant managers/owners are already averse at MP's extracting discounts and freebies for her every meal. Indeed, crass and dense personified.

"Character is like a tree and reputation like a shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing." ~ Abraham Lincoln

Mitoy Yonting, the 42-year-old veteran band vocalist, was named the first-ever winner of “The Voice of the Philippines” on Sunday during the hit TV show’s grand finale at Resorts World Manila.

Yonting, a member of Team Lea, beat Team Sarah's Klarisse de Guzman, Team Bamboo's Myk Perez and Team Apl's Janice Javier in the much-awaited finale of ABS-CBN’s hit talent search.

The vocalist of the band The Draybers, Yonting established himself among the show’s early favorites and most popular contestants during the Blind Auditions, where he sang the ’70s OPM hit "Bakit Ako Mahihiya."

Known for his high, effortless voice and energetic performances, Yonting easily progressed on the show after engaging Chien Berbana in the Battle Rounds with "Alone." He electrified the Resorts World Manila crowd during is first live performance with Queen’s theatrical “Don’t Stop Me Now,” exuding a confidence honed by many years of band experience.

In the succeeding live shows, Yonting also showed his quieter side with restrained performances of "Paano," "Against All Odds," and "The Power of Love."

In Saturday’s final competition, Yonting chose to do a rock version of Freddie Aguilar’s classic “Anak,” with Salonga proclaiming, “You are the most deserving person right now for the title, you are the voice of the Philippines.”

His original song, “Bulag,” has also been a best-seller on iTunes, consistently ranking in the Top 5 downloads in the Philippines.

As the first-ever winner of “The Voice of the Philippines,” Yonting won a P2 million, a new car, an Asian tour package for two and a four-year recording contract with MCA Universal
