He Gets the Last Laugh

When a project comes on air, not all viewers know that meticulous planning has been done to make sure the said project comes out well and the plot line is tight. Creative teams spend many months that can be as long as a year to map out the storyline and the growth of the main characters. Thus, when casting is done for the major leads, the chosen actor/actress must be committed until the end of the life of his/her character. If he/she drops out, all the planning goes down the drain as well and the creative team has to sit down and revise most of their past work.
Thus, when a talent is assigned a role in a soap, he/she knows the importance of being part of that project. For priority talents, their projects usually land in primetime and their supporting cast comprises of worthy senior actors as well. The support of the production team is obvious given the location, camera work, and wit in dialogue. Although soaps might just be in one network, competition occurs as well and viewers are quick to note why certain projects are given such a timeslot and a weak cast compared to other projects.
Sometime ago, viewers wondered what change would a project headed by just one Popular Actor (PA) could do in an almost dead timeslot. PA seemed miscast, as he was the only one who had a strong reputation as an actor. The other leads might have had attained a certain level of popularity, but such does not come close to the achievements of the said actor. Then, publicity-wise, not much was done unlike soaps that came earlier. Loyal viewers of the station felt something was amiss with the project.
One of the harshest comments was that the network did not really prioritize the said project, which was even speculated as a one season show that could serve as a filler for a bigger one. After a few weeks of struggling to gain higher viewership, the said project gained momentum. The project was becoming popular with the late crowd. Soon, the female leads started to gain more followers and getting into intrigues, which were signs that they were getting noticed. The ratings proved that the project was performing more than what was expected and more characters started to enter the plot. The success was unexpected and the production was happy. The team gave their best and has reaped the rewards. Some supporters from the start could not believe that they were having the last laugh.
