    5. small steps, everyone/everything has to start somewhere after all. hindi mo bet, eh di okay, pero never invalidate the filipino animators’ efforts by calling their work a waste of time. let us be more constructive and encouraging naman sa pagpuna.

    6. Why not 12:29?

    7. The dialogues alone should get them an R18 or even an X rating. Using the animation platform is and the star-studded cast, are attempts to fool the audience that this offering is an acceptable alternative in the mainstream category of filmmaking.

But look at it closely, a female cat, sleeping around being called “hayop”, and other names, being physically assaulted by her cat husband are all depicted on screen in that snippet of a teaser. The animated characterization are meant to soften the themes of sex & violence. Because who would question an animal’s nature? Diba? Cats and other animals do it anywhere with any other members of their species, right? So, scientifically, there shouldn’t be any malice in the natural way animals have sex, or even fight violently when they disagree with each other. But this film takes it further by giving the animals it’s own character arches, and dialogue that are all very human. I would bet my money that the dialogues also include “funny lines” that are “meant to be harmless” because it would speak to the nature of animals per se.

The Filipino viewing public should watch out for these types of films being marketed to a general audience. It is no different from a scented and/or fruit flavored illegally-traded drug meant to destroy and eventually toast your brain.

Let’s not cheapen the theme of having animals in film. Let’s not cheapen the Filipino brand of animation. Let’s not continue to cheapen The Pinoy brand of comedy. Not like this as it looks kind of funny and appealing to children, whose sensibilities we have to guard, so they are not corrupted by these types of underhanded marketing ploys. We all know that the end game is to profit from it, right? But it has to be marketed to the appropriate audience an adult audience. I hope we have MTRCB members reading this blog and have the appropriate people rate this film accordingly.

Natural this is intended for adult audience.

    12. 1:36 SAAN KUWEBA po kayo nakatira? nakapanood na ba kayo ng Anime? some Animes or cartoons are meant for adult audience or political satire. It depends on the artists.

    13. truth cartoons are not only made for kids. and yes maybe the reason is to soften the theme.

    14. @8:47, kweba?

My gas!

  14. Sana ginandahan man lang yung screenplay.

    3. 1040, you’re probably correct that some FP commenters in this article do not know about the show adult swim of the Cartoon Network; however, you are wrong to assume that those of us making constructive criticism do not know about said animated shows/series. You must understand that the point some people are making here relates to the paradigm in the Philippines where animated films are for general patronage. Also, adult swim in the US is shown in a time slot that is deemed appropriate for adult viewing in cable networks, even in syndication. As far as marketing and promotions go, there is no mistake that the shows or series are for adults. However, having said that, it is a fact that some producers of certain adult swim series have had run-ins with authorities due to inappropriate marketing ploys to sell their series as “harmless,” when in fact, some audience have imitated certain actions portrayed on some violently-themed shows.

My comment above simply aims to point out that the producers of this film has used the animation platform to water down the theme of sex and violence; and for certain unsophisticated audiences the medium alone is enough to fool them into thinking that it may be for general patronage, add to that their favorite stars’ voices are behind the characters. As I have said above, the reality is, as filmmaking goes, the end game is to make a profit, thus the wider net they can cast, the more fish they can catch, so to speak. We need to make sure that this movie is not marketed to the youth and is rated accordingly by the films ratings board in-charge. And lastly, if this animated genre is the future of Filipino filmmaking, then why not invest in a better crafted screenplay, have a better plot, have better scripts—we already have a great talent pool of animators, why not ensure that their work is shown in a way that will not be censored, they at least deserve that, right? No need to condescend upon those who are only providing constructive criticism. ~ 136

    4. then we should just wait and see. MTRCB should give this the proper for adults only rating.
