  5. Definitely an inspiration. napaka unfair naman pag sinabi nating imitation, hindi naman malayo magkaroon ng konting pagkaka parehas yung mga design ng mga designers. just saying :)

  8. Nah. This is inspiration unlile nun ke RAJO

  9. Francis had the exact same gown as the one Versace made on the top photo! Medyo inalis lang ng Francis yung detail sa may hips pero the fabric, the draping sa lower part ng gown & the cut are exactly the same! I forgot who wore that to the Star Magic Ball in 2011 pero parehong pareho talaga.

  14. I think there are enough differences in the two dresses that the most we can say is that they have the same style, one was inspired by the other, or both got inspiration from a similar source.

  19. definitely an imitation... a cheap one at that.. he took the easy route by lessening the details on the torso part..tsk

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
OA...

      Delete
    2. so are you saying OA or very busy yung sa versace? and i am not pertaining to the material, quality or finish when i say cheap, by that what i meant was how one tried to imitate something and fall short or look second rate compared to the original just like those knock off bags at greenhills

      Delete

      Delete
    4. go lang girl! next na may designer na bago lumabas at mangopya at na media hype sasabihin mo din yan! i love the next designer na nagopya! hahahahah

      Delete
  20. Inspiration... But no so much like yung gawa ni Rajo Laurel...

    ReplyDelete
  21. clearly, and not for anything, but the craftsmanship and execution of the atelier versace dress is superb. all the more when compared to that of libiran's dress above. the atelier versace dress was worn by claudia schiffer.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's awkward when you find out that people have realized you copied someone else's design. As a designer, you can't say, "It's my first time to see that dress." You should've been aware! That's why you look at trends.
    IMITATION!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Could be an inspiration.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. and it is also not correct to support people who copy just because they are filipino.

    2. Not supporting anyone who copies. But I'm also not impressed w/ Filipino crabs who cant wait to find fault sa kapwa Filipino just because they are filipino.

  24. Inspired by:yun lang

  25. Inspiration. Not totally knopya.Compared to Rajo's work na tlgang kinopya, eto iniba nmn. I must say na mas creative si Francis Libiran. I love the dress.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Inspiration for me. Libiran could have seen the Versace dress and made his own version. At least the detailing is a bit different compared to Rajo's.

    1. we are talking about Libiran and Versace, and peopel keep inserting Laurels Name? hello! given na yun kay Laurel! he is a not a designer he is a businessman! cares nya sa pangookra? basta siya kumikita! all of a sudden we are comparing Laurel To Libiran? di kaya idol naman niya si Laurel?

      Delete
  27. i dont see any problem with filipino designers who's getting inspiration from world class designers..at least ito may twist, not totally gaya, unlike yung kay rajo laurel, carbon copy talaga.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I Love Francis Libiran!

Kaya sumikat sina Monique at Oliver Tolentino abroad. Jessica opted for Oliver Tolentino designs.

    ReplyDelete
  30. imitation again.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hindi naman masyado

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. isang malaking CHECK!

      Delete
    2. exactly, the idea is the same, the fabric, the twisting on the bottom part. and as a designer, would you really not like to release something that is entirely your own?,and that the only way to do that is to check the trends or works of others to ensure that your work is entirely your own?

      Delete
  33. Could be innovation. Jst saying :D

    ReplyDelete

So baka yan ang uso talaga. Inspiration itech! At francis is really nice & hardworking! Cutie din.

      Delete
  36. young fashion designer has better design and innovative concepts, though some oldies does carry their originality but rajo and francis are crossing borders from inspiring to imitating... to think they are charging sky high on their clients is it worthy of their price...

    ReplyDelete
  37. sobrang Imitation na to.

  41. inspiration.

at least dito, yung essence ng design the same pero yung over all silhouette and color iba na.

pero bakit kaya ginagawang inspiration ang gawa ng ibang designer? hindi ba puwedeng sa mga bagay bagay around him/her?

    thoughts lang.

    ReplyDelete
  42. hay..kakahiya..hindi purkit iniba mo ung color eh original kana..ska sna sa susunod na gayahin..sna mas mganda don sa ginaya..ano ba yan..gagaya n lng low quality pa and poor execution.!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Imitation or inspiration, i think versace has a more classier cut and over all look.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Instead of saying this and that, please just support our fellow filipino that still making into the international scene. I also wanna add that designing and dressing someone is not easy as judging someone you barely knew at all, try to design first or if you can, try to do one; before saying any negative thoughts about this design/dress.

  46. Alam niyo ba how the fashion industry works? Pwedeng mag imitate ng mga ginawa. It's a dog eat dog world ika nga. Pwede gumawa pero siyempre nakakahiya pag nahuli. Hindi lang sa pinas gumagawa niyan.

  48. it pays to know other designers' works, especially if they're from big houses like Atelier Versace...i once designed a fan-themed dress, tapos nakita ko na medyo pareho pala dun sa isang McQueen piece..

Tsaka madaming designs talaga from different houses na pareho like Marchesa at Marc Jacobs some seasons ago :)

  56. Ooh La La! Evelyn Sineneng-Smith "Introduced" Francis Libiran, Oliver Tolentino and Monique Lhuillier to Carla Zimbelman's students of "Special Occasion Couture Fabrics"

The fashion students of Monterey Peninsula College recently viewed with awe and admiration the couture gowns projected into the giant 10ftx10ft screen by Evelyn Sineneng-Smith and Carla Zimbelman. The red-carpet beauties featured were Maria Menounos in a blue "jusi", Ginnifer Goodwin in a persimmon-orange frock and Tyra Banks in an architect-designed gown... "architect?"

Monterey, CA (PRWEB) November 04, 2012
Carla Zimbelman, Professor of fashion courses at Monterey Peninsula College, recently invited Evelyn Sineneng-Smith, a Fashion Entrepreneur based in Silicon Valley, to lecture to her fashion students, the couture fabrication techniques utilized by designers Francis Libiran, Oliver Tolentino and Monique Lhuillier. The three featured designers created special occasion gowns for the red-carpet, modeled by celebrities at the recent 2012 Emmys in Los Angeles and the 2012 Blossom Ball in New York.
Oliver Tolentino created a blue gown worn by Maria Menounos, the co-host of the dimpled Mario Lopez of EXTRA. Evelyn described to the fashion students the "jusi", the unique fabric used by Oliver Tolentino. "Jusi" is made of fibers stripped from the stalks and leaves of a banana tree. These fibers were then carefully woven in an old-fashioned hand loom to create the fabric. It was then dyed into royal blue, intricately put together and worn beautifully by Maria Menounos at the recent 2012 Emmy Awards.
World-class designer, Monique Lhuillier, the amazing genius behind her own global brand, created a champagne beige gown meticulously hand-embellished with persimmon-orange vines all over the gown. This was worn elegantly on the red carpet at the recent 2012 Emmys by Hollywood actress, Ginnifer Goodwin, of the popular "Once Upon A Time" television series.
Finally, Evelyn "introduced" Francis Libiran, on the giant screen, to the amazement of the fashion students of Carla Zimbelman. Francis, an architect by profession and who is also a fashion designer based in the Philippines, created his own special occasion fabric using strips of bias cut fabric and individually arranged to create the linear effect. This architecturally-inspired black and white gown was worn by statuesque supermodel Tyra Banks at the 2012 Blossom Ball in New York.
Carla Zimbelman, also herself a fashion designer, teaches fashion courses at the Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, California. She is currently working with the Department Chair of the college to revamp the Fashion Program of the college. She designs couture handbags with her own label, "Carla Renee". A fashionista can choose from Carla's portfolio of over 300 leather swatches, all made in the USA. She is an alumna of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in San Francisco, California.
Evelyn Sineneng-Smith is a Fil-Am Fashion Entrepreneur and intermixes her Legal, Business and Internet Marketing skills with her Passion for Fashion! She is based in San Jose, the capital of Silicon Valley in California.
