1: Bold (lalo yung pene films)

  6. Ever since I learned of generative AI during its early beginnings even years before most of the general public knew of it, I already knew in my mind that the Philippines will be the one to be the first to egregiously adopt it once it becomes widespread and bastardize the artistic fields including "filmmaking". The PH has very little qualms about disregarding artist, their crafts and fields.

A few years before all that, I made a full length VFX heavy, Sci-fi film. We hired a small pool of talented local fx artists. Budget was meager because it's an independent production at a local festival. We were fueled merely by passion and wanted to prove that it can be done and that local talents are very capable here. I believe we achieved what we set out to do. However, a few years later, generative AI apocalypse was born. I knew it will cause this kind of shitstorm because producers here care more about who the celebrities are attached in a given project and if the story follows a money making formula. Celebrity and story is king in the PH. Everything else, the artistic and technical sides, they don't give a fuck about that. It's the least valued aspect.

This application of generative AI on Sigabo is only the beginning. It's going to get worse. It's even more of an uphill battle now for local artist than ever before.
