My mother was married to an alcoholic narcissist with a mean temper. In the public eye, may father curated an image na mabuti syang tao and people would always side with him. Sadly, housewife lang nanay ko and she couldn't just walk away. I really questioned her kung bakit sya nag asawa ng ganyang lalake. He only gave us trauma and PTSD.
And some people here are still defending derek. I've never been a fan of ellen. I'm old-fashioned and ellen's wild nature doesn't sit right with me. But again, I'm on her side. Derek has always had a manipulative vibe. Yung parang claudine vibe na bait-baitan infront of the cam but nasty in real life.
I remember the netizens would hound andrea for that short term relationship w/ derek thinking she was the problem since the past ones lasted for yrs. And now people are realizing she's smart for cutting it short. As andrea would say -

No matter how modern our times now, the patriarchal system is still dominating in our country. Like kahit toxic na ang relationships ninyo mag-asawa. Ang pamilya mo pa mismo ang mag advice sa yo na habaan mo pa ang pisi for the sake of kids or image etc. It's time for us women to break this toxic cycle. We shouldn't tolerate any form of dis-respect from our spouse, okay na yon you forgive him once, pero twice no out na dapat. Sana lahat nang babae kayang gawin yong ginawa ni Ellen, pero hindi eh, some are still dependent sa mga husband nila so ang ending, tanggapin nalang kapalaran nila, ang lungkot lang.
Ellen, it’s easier for you because you have your own money, house, support system etc., but for the rest of us, it would be like a camel going through the eye of a needle.
Ladies... long courtship will minimize this kind of situation. Get to know to him. Vet him. Make him prove his worth. Men secretly desire a woman that they have to earn. Also, don't fall in love with any man.. fall in love with the QUALITY OF LIFE that a man can give you - drama-free and peaceful. Grabe un mga hindi kino-consider un mga salitang sinasabe ni derek sa recording. Talagang naka focus lang sa sumigaw, nagmura. E si ellen nga tong ayaw makipagusap ng maayos e kaya nafrufrustrate yun isa. Wag kayo makipagrelasyon if you cannot humble yourself to fix a problem with your partner. Mga babae, d kayo prinsesa.
