Grabe 1994 was the year for India kasi nasungkit nila yung dalawang major crowns (Miss Universe - Sushmita Sen and Miss World - Aishwarya Rai). Naalala ko yung kwento during Miss Femina India pageant that year ang inaasahan ng lahat na makakakuha ng crown was si Aishwarya. Pero si Sushmita, dark horse ng competition kasi she ended up being the Miss India 1994 and went to compete for Miss Universe while si Aishwarya was first runner up and went to compete for Miss World.
11:15 Yup, also Miss Asia Pacific. But 1994 was pivotal for India kasi nakuha nila yung dalawang major titles, tapos naintriga din yung dalawa in a rivalry issue and pinagsasabong ng ilang local press sa kanila.
Now, if kay Aishwarya nga napunta ang Miss Universe India at kay Sushmita napunta ang Miss World India, would they still have bagged the highest crowns in the said competitions? Many doubted it.
Anyway, 2000 was also a great victory for them.
Pero these days, beauty pageants have started losing relevance na rin sa country nila.
Kabisado ko pa.. “The origin of a child is a mother and is a woman. A woman that shows a man what loving and caring is all about. That is the essence of being a woman.” - today siguro and controversial ng answer nya sa woke people hahahaha
Hindi na pwede ngayon yung sagot ni Sushmita about the essence of being a woman. Maraming woke people na magagalit sa kanya, baka hindi sya nanalo kung ngayon nya sinagot yan, hahaha
Though hindi rin naman mali yung sagot nya pero you’re right, madaming woke na magagalit and malamang nga hindi sya manalo for that hahaha Nagbabago rin ang mga values as we reassess it to fit the changing times
nasa timing lang talaga. kahit siguro sagot ni Gloria Diaz, marami sigurong maiinis if siya nanalo ngayon with her kind of answer. but as i've said, nasa tamang panahon yung pag compete din nila. Sushmita's answer was so relevant those days (or year) at kahit walang internet, nag viral pa. ngayon, with so many na mga feeling entitled, baka magprotesta pa mga woke at e bash ng todo2x ang mga winners
I remember I told yung 1 senior staff ng uk office nmin who is an indian natl, how i luv sushmita, i watched the miss u live in mla that time. And the indians were so proud of her winning the crown 🤗
Back when the Miss Universe pageant is still

ReplyDeleteParang same thing happened in 2000. Nanalo ng MU 2000 si Lara Dutta at Miss World 2000 naman si Priyanka Chopra.

ReplyDeleteMay kulang, sis: Being a woman by itself, the very fact that you’re a woman, which is a gift from God is something to be appreciated.
