The Basketball Controversy

I was surprised that the media did not report on this story when I first learned about this. Yesterday, I had to make several phone calls to verify the truth behind this story. The people I rang told me that this happened more than two months ago but the university ordered a news blackout. After reading this story, please do not accuse me of doing a demolition job because I am from another university.

In this year’s much awaited university basketball league, fans of these two varsity players will no longer see them in action. The university officials have expelled the two players from the team after catching them in a bloody boxing match. Do you want to know the reason behind the big fight?

Apparently, the girlfriend of Player B accused Player A of sexual assault. She did file a case with the proper authority but the university officials were quick to respond. Through the help of a powerful and influential university alumnus, the case was settled immediately. As to how the case was settled, no one really knows about the details.

To protect the university’s image and avoid controversies, the university has decided not to include these two players in this year’s roster. According to the university officials, Player A will not be able to participate in this year’s league due to his poor health condition. As for Player B, they claimed that he is no longer academically qualified to continue his studies in their institution. Player B has actually returned to the school where he was originally from and he will be playing for this school’s basketball team again.

This is a highly sensitive story so may I request you to observe the guidelines in posting comments. Please follow micsylim on Twitter to get updates on Fashion PULIS. Continue to email your juicy stories to michaelsylim@gmail.com. Thank you for always loving Fashion PULIS!

  14. a reader in pdi revealed that being overweight is not the real reason as to why R will not soar with his champion team this year. the reader mentioned the reason as stated here in FP. the blue side really kept quiet about this but for how long? sponsor pa man din ata sila this year.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The truth is it was not sexual assault but with mutual consent. The girl had long been separated from her player boyfriend when she had an affair with the other player. The EX did not take it well - so he challenged the other player - who is/was a future star of the team. He wanted to make sure that his reputation would be damaged beyond repair...so the story goes. Look at the color of the ball and you have your crystal clear answer as to the university.

A naman I think isn't really academically qualified anymore. Unlike in other schools na hindi priority ang studies for athletes, ibahin mo ang school nila.

Dami namang tinatago, siguro nga para sa most valuable person kasi very generous alumni sponsor... Baka takot mawala funds nila.

  42. It's all over web. Just search a particular 2011 overweight player and boom! Google fills up the other piece of the puzzle! Too bad for the school, R is a good player.

    ReplyDelete
  43. "Ang mga straight talaga? Puro manyak!"

FUNNY! pero as if naman merong aamin na-sexually assault ng kapwa nyang lalake?

everyone has 'manyak' tendencies... pero mas stronger uncontrollable urges from men (gay or straight) kesa sa women... :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. It's R & A. R (the player who made the sexual assault) is still with the school. A was expelled bec. he was not attending school after the incident and got expelled. From what i heard, the alleged assault happened inside the campus. Shame for this school at kinampihan pa ang may sala! Sabagay puro kunsintindor yata dun!

    ReplyDelete
  46. hahahaha! kaya pala di na naglalaro si R sa A nung fil-oil. oh well magaling sila mag tago ng kanilang dumi tsk tsk tsk. pati sa rules ng LEAGUE na sila pa yung host ngayon di nila sinusunod tsk tsk. di dapat mag laro si G ngayon kasi naglalaro sa National Team eh. maging FAIR naman sila pati yung dalawa pang school [ehem!]. eto pa nga yung rule oh. "An athlete who is in the process of establishing residency requirements in the LEAGUE shall not play for another team in any league; otherwise, an additional one-year residency shall be required. Such athlete may play for his/her own university outside the LEAGUE and/or the National Team."

  47. Player A nadepress, kumain kaya overweight at 260lbs daw. Player B who is an artist, mag sign of the cross na lang para makalaro in his old school. Iyong loser or talo in Pilipino... Winner actually iyon pero nakiki alam daw ang tatay..Baka hindi natuwa sa 10M pera pera Lang na binigay sa tatay na Rookie. ITIM ang coach into di ba? Iyong pamatay tao nila na recruit from Visayas...Baka Mapagbawalan pang makalaro kasi nag violate ng eligibility rules...Sabi nga... He who has the gold, makes the rules. I disagree. To be honest, I think studies (for some of their players isnt a strict requirement). Their star player, who is involved in this controversy, is also said to have academic deficiencies way back his first yr. It's just that they value him so much for their quest for championships that they allow it and nothing's being said bout his academic status. Friends from that school even say that the player does not attend classes.

  51. Thanks for the clues sa mga comments gets ko na sino. May nabasa akong comment na hindi gf yung na assault but sister. Who's the girl?

    ReplyDelete
  52. To Anonymous of June 24, 9:35am

I don't agree with your comment that laterals are not true "blue blooded." When these laterals make the school win championships with their exceptional athletic abilities, the whole school embraces them as their own BUT when these laterals do something scandalous, they are branded as mere "laterals who are not really true blue." How hypocritical. Maybe they should be known as "Whitened Sepulchres" instead of "Blue E_ _ _ _ _ s."

Whether they are laterals or have been students since prep, they are all products of the school.

This is truly ONE BIG SCANDAL. This you cannot deny or FIGHT. Just deal with it.

  53. Actually old news, and it was supposed to be really hush hush. One version (hearsay though, I heard the real one) is that it was a one night stand. Just so happened that Player B found out about it, and to cover up and save face, Player B's gf instead accused Player A of rape. And please, let's not turn this into a school thing. Como ba malapit na ang LEAGUE, people are gonna use this as ammunition against the subject school? Low blow. Let's all fight fairly, let the best team win!

  60. Wow, nabago na ang pinag-aawayan, laterals vs. true blues na! Kaysa naman puro tungkol sa gender and sexual assault! :) affected si zippo? lateral-much? hehehe.

It doesn't really matter for me whether true blue or lateral.. there are just really graduates from that university who don't deserve to be called an alumnus/alumna. Case in point, two gentlemen, allegedly, who fight over a girl; or a girl who is in a committed relationship who succumbs to temptation. Ahhh, these are young adults who do not deserve to get an education from this university.

It's not really using it against the other team. The bad thing here is theyre using player (bf of the girl) as a sacrificial goat. Theyre throwing him under the bus to save the face/reputation of the other player. Nothing is being said about the star player. He wasnt kicked out I think. Word is that the fat player is still with the school. Not so sure but I think he might suit up next yr. Thats what it looked like when I read some articles. They just said he's overweight so he cant play.

Enjoy naman lahat so yun lang. Funny lang how some people say this blog is classy, kelan pa naging classy na manira ng repustasyon ng mga tao? 78. FAKE REASONS AND EXCUSES... THEY JUST MAKE THAT REASON TO HIDE THE REAL NASTY ISSUE ABOUT R. AND IT'S NOT TRUE THAT A IS HAVING A HARD TIME AT SCHOOL. THE TRUTH WILL COME OUT SOON, AND JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL. I KNOW THE UNIVERSITY WON'T DISCLOSE THE REAL ISSUE ABOUT B BECAUSE IT WILL BE A BIG SCANDAL, AND TO PROTECT THEIR NAME, BUT C'MON, THERE'S AN ONGOING CASE ALREADY AND THERE WAS A GIRL THAT WAS VIOLATED. IT'S VERY MUCH UNFAIR TO SPREAD FALSE REASONS JUST TO PLAY SAFE, THAT IS VERY SELF-CENTERED.

  81. the blackout must have been done to protect all involved parties from further scrutiny/talk. i think if this happened in the other LEAGUE member schools, they would order a news blackout as well. the student-athletes involved have been dealt the punishment. just let them suffer in peace. they are surely regretting by now the immature way they dealt with their girl problem. furthermore, the university has dealt with adversity so well. the right attitude will give them the championship this year. (on money, let's face it ... all the LEAGUE member schools have their respective sponsors and donors. money talks, but we all don't know the real story behind this issue.) P.S. FP, though you may be on the other side of the fence, I commend the tactful way you posted this entry. :)

  84. Yes It's such a fake and defensive excuse! You can never know one famous player's acts when he is not inside the court. R had victimized many people but only one person had proved to stand for herself in this big incident. Not all knew the real story but herself and the people who's been attached to her lately. And for another reason, he claimed to steal one relationship of his teamate A and his girlfriend the victimized person that R had abused for disrespectful predilection. It's a total shame of not taking good care of A, and letting it flow just like that. They have to cover up the truth and reveal made up stories. One covers up everything then one damage will get back into it

  87. Both players are wrong for doing a brawl. Yes, its hard to accept having a girlfriend of maybe x girlfriend be sexually assaulted especially by a teammate. But the question is, if the girl did'nt want to have "***" with player A why did she come with him? It was said that she even came with player A to an out of town trip. So there must be something wrong with the girl in the first place! Its like Nicole from the Subic rape case. Accusing the american soldier rape after she willingly came with them?
Is she that naive to think that another player inviting her out of town is purely "friendly"?! In one way or another (if your not stupid enough), you would know if a guy has other interests than just being friends! epecially if you have known him for quite sometime (him being the teamate of your bf!)

ok sorry, but then again. hindi pa rin pwede maglaro si G this year, nasa rules yan at dapat sinusunod yan ng Blue Side. halos lahat ng school members ng LEAGUE kinu-question yan pati si RR.P

  96. Are you even sure that's a fact story? Well I guess there's nothing wrong being friends with A. And it doesn't mean if she would come with A, it means she's interested on A. You don't even know the real story! So, why such a story maker anyway! You don't even know the girl and you would gladly post things like this which is even made up! Stop crossing the line and protecting the rapist!

P.S No one is STUPID unlike you posting wrong things against the victimized!

    - No one stupid enough would NOT KNOW HIS or HER FRIENDS. She willingly comes with someone she does not know what for? I dont know the rapist nor am I protecting him but seriously? She's that naive to not know the motives of the guy?! So that's her fault. Player A indeed has a fault but that would not have happened if the girl was just wise enough. Tsktsk.

and so, if you really know whats the story, why not tell it?

    ReplyDelete
  97. Well Everyone knows his attitude already. So will you stop side commenting on the girls side. You don't even know her just to judge her like that.

And yet, Nothing is gonna happen if we all comment made up stories. It's good if we ask her in personal. So we would know what's on her side and to know what's the truth. Let's not argue about just for some issue that had came out.

We should help for the ones who had suffered not the one who made the incident. Thank you.

    To 10:36am:
Even if the girl willingly went with player A, it doesn't mean she is willing to be raped. Naive na kung naive, but the moment she said NO and the guy still forces himself on her, even with the circumstance you were saying, that is rape. It is never the victim's fault. You are doing a disservice to all women who are raped and is not willing to file a case for fear of being blamed or called malandi.

  102. "ok sorry, but then again. hindi pa rin pwede maglaro si G this year, nasa rules yan at dapat sinusunod yan ng blue side. halos lahat ng school members ng LEAGUE kinu-question yan pati si R" kung hindi pwede maglaro si G dahil sa national team edi dapat dagdagan rin residency ni N kasi sumama siya sa RP youth team nung 1st year niya dito (bale madagdagan pa ng 1 year yung 2 year residency niya as a player who came from abroad, hindi pa counted yung first year niya dito kasi 2nd sem siya nagregister) at si R na sumama sa youth olympic games (madagdagan rin ng 1 year yung supposed 2 year residency niya as a player who came from abroad). marami pang ibang player na naglaro for the youth teams ang maaaffect dito. matagal nang na-amend yung rules na players undergoing residency can play for the national team. maraming school rep na nag-approve dito at sa request ni G mag-laro for the national team. nag-iingay lang ang isang UAAP board rep diyan ng isang school kasi desperado, injured kasi yung import niya. mababasa mo ito sa isang blog na nagclarify ng issue, mabilis lang hanapin yan.

  105. It's not even true that R is out of the school. The school is just hiding the the truth. Shame on you, really! And what about A? He's out because he did what's on the right path? I hope GOD punishes you for being unkind to the ones who need help! All you care is being on the top with your school name, and money. Well, the team you are against with? Will TAKE THE GRAND TITLE from you!

    ReplyDelete
  106. They protected R against the issue. So the school could still have R to win the LEAGUE! Do you think by keeping him would even make you win this season? WELL HELL NO! You made it worst then! That's what you get from being selfish & braggart! Shame on you

  111. You idiots. The girl was the one who told the authorities that she was not "violated". She broke up with A, and flirted with R. A got mad. A was the one who assumed it was a "violation" in an attempt to ruin the girl and R's reputation (can't blame him, he was mad). R got big because he was not allowed by the University to practice with the team while the case was in process. Even with the girl's confession, the school followed proper procedures and released R from the team. A was in the team, but was taking summer classes with E and D. After the summer classes, A didn't make the mark and eventually failed his probation opportunity as well. And with all the stress R faced, I would think one would either not eat, or eat non-stop. I guess he took the later route. Why are people so quick to assume that all the details of the rumors are connected? A was failing his subjects.. he was already on probation after his 1st year. Let's admit it, not everyone can be bopth a sudent and an athlete. Of course the possibility of him leaving the school because of the issue is high, but di niyo ba naisip na posibleng he knew his "lie" about the "violation issue" will essentially be frowned upon by the school fateful? Ano pang mukha ang ihaharap niya sa community? So he left. B continues to study in the school, but is now removed from the team. In strict terms, he is a free man since if the girl says she wasn't "violated", then there is NO case. If there is no case, then R can play. But back to the other completely separate issue. R is huge. He's even bigger than J and M ng UP. Not even kidding. So if you guys want to continue to feed on the issue in hopes of staining the name of B, the school, by using the idea of A being the underdog, sige lang, kung ikasasaya niyo. But back it up with genuine/ legit information. NFP PS: If R wanted to, he could have easily transferred to the other league. But he didn't. Because 1 he is innocent, 2 he probably values his education and 3 because even if he transferred, he cannot play. He's just too fat.
