A Designer's Reaction to Last Monday's Retagging Blind Item

Dear Fashion PULIS,

I saw your last Monday's blog post Designer Caught Retagging by Another Designer pertaining to me. One of my friends saw it and immediately told me about it knowing that I always ask KINGSMEN to do all the custom tailors of my clients. This is not retagging. I still can't think of any instance when a designer confronting me about this. I can only remember MB as the designer who bought a jacket from me. The jacket was pulled out by stylist PQ (not the designer) and I remember that she knows that KINGMEN does my jackets.

It is also not true that I said my dad is one of the stockholders of KINGSMEN. The truth is KINGSMEN owes my dad a lot of money, so the company produces my jackets to offset what the company owes my dad. My relationship with KINGSMEN cutters and sewers is that they execute my design, my specifications, my chosen materials and my proportions. The tag in the jacket must have been stitched by mistake. Whoever is Designer A, I am sorry that I did not tell you that KINGSMEN executed the jacket that you bought.

To sum it all up, I did not retag the KINGSMEN jacket. I have also informed most of my clients that KINGSMEN executes all my designs. I do the design, choose the materials and ask the company to execute it for me. I just want to set things straight because I am worried as to what people might think.

If you also check out KINGSMEN prices for materials and labor, a typical blazer would cost between 8t to 10t PhP. I even sell the jackets to my clients at a cheaper price because I want them to have the best deal possible. What more can you ask for, a jacket designed by me and executed perfectly by KINGSMEN sold at a lower price.

I hope you understand the situation. God Bless.

Yours truly,
Ralph Ng

P.S. Fashion PULIS is open to hear the side of KINGSMEN. Kindly get in touch with me through michaelsylim@gmail.com.

  1. I liked the fact that he cleared his name pero it is supposed to be a blind item din naman (may not or may not be true.) I liked FashionPulis in the sense na people who are assumed to be the subjects by people who comment, have the right to clear things up.

To Ralph Ng thank you for explaining your side. Open minded naman mga tao dito and we would be happy to verify facts

  21. me and a friend commissioned ralph ng to tailor made "MJ" jackets some 2yrs ago and this is what happened. told him i was gonna wear it for my party 1month after. we got inspired by the preview magazine cover (maricel soriano) so we asked him to do a men's version of that. in the magazine it was priced something like 5-6k. we questioned why he was charging us 10k, he said preview committed a typo error. several delays after, he was able to show me the unfinished jacket, this was prolly a week before my birthday and at the same time i gave him the complete payment. i noted how crooked the stitches were, and how oddly it fitted on the sleeves, he agreed to fix before my birthday. the day came, why i kinda figured he couldn't deliver a well tailored jacket so i've decided to grab a zara for backup. and voila! the jacket arrived and is totally unfinished! the hem is uneven with crooked stitching, button fell off. will try to send a photo! i complained but i figured what can i do? complete payment was already given. he offered to send me a new jacket to compensate but i declined. from this day on, i promised myself never to order anything from ralph ng!

Very judgemental and stereotyping and arrogant! Wag naman ganyan mga fellow readers.

Kudos to mr ralph ng for identifying himself. Pero i dont think it was necessary to reveal about kingsmen owing his dad some money. He could have said something like an agreement from a previous business transaction, etc etc. A little diplomacy wouldnt hurt diba? Eh tumutupad naman sa end of the bargain ang kingsmen so why put it to shame. From: fashion puhleez :)

tsk tsk tsk.. parang di nakabuti ang pag-out nya ah... oh well, at least he was given a chance to explain his side din. good job, FP! :)

So true! Why are there some readers who all of a sudden bring up gender biases here? Is it that easy to generalize? There's a majority of honest homosexuals, so why are we assuming that all of them cheat when it's just a handful being highlighted here? Most of the corrupt politicians are straight, so should I assume that all straight men are corrupt? Most of the prostitutes hanging out in Havana are straight women, so do I assume that all straight women are whores? FP, please do something about this. Perhaps guidelines in posting should be amended and comments with gender biases are not allowed posting, as there is no need to spread virally the words of ignorant people reading this blog. Enough with the gay-bashing.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Di ba straight daw si Ralph Ng? Maybe the stupid guy who posted this:

mga bakla kc kaya puro ganyang, retagging at mga manloloko.. wag magtiwala sa mga bklang designers, walang talent, puro retagging at magaling manloko.

    should change his words to:

mga straight kc kaya puro ganyang, retagging at mga manloloko... wag magtiwala sa mga straight designers, walang talent, puro retagging at magaling manloko.

How does it feel to be on the receiving end, straight anonymous person?

People pay for jackets at a very high price expecting of course yung worth ng money nila. And in return, kapag hindi nakadeliver yung designer, kasalanan ng designer yan!

And para matuto nadin mga designers na habol lang pera. yknow, pwede namang galingan nalang and wag mandaya, the money will come. Now, its time for these designers to redeem themselves. This blog is really helpful in transforming people to be better, contrary to what you say na "useless".

    Karma is a bitch!

Kahit blind item, sana you verify the truth before writing.

Korak! Kahit sino'ng tao gagawa ng kalokohan, di aamin ng kasalanan kasi followers sila ng kasabihang "Pag gagawa ng kalokohan, wag magpapahuli. Pag nahuli, wag aamin".

I don't know much about the fashion industry, but Anon mentioned above na RTW lang ang nagpapa-subcon, tama ba ang intindi ko? How come I've heard at least two not-so-well-known designers/modistas claim that they do beadwork for some more famous designers? Is this really a common practice?

Why so angry? Ikaw ba yung nasa BI? if you know the designer too well, why dont you tell us your side then, para fair naman. Afterall, this is FP's blog, why do you care so much. Dont read if you think FP is not credible. More or less, most gossips are true. It really depends nalang sa readers if they will believe FP or not.

  61. This is what I think....lesbians, gay, transgender or bi are also just people. In this world there are good and bad people, so what ever gender it is, everyone is equal. It is just sad that this designer is gay. RN, stop what you are doing and stop your lies, you are just destroying the good name and adding stereotyping to the gay community.

I agree with the other people here, FP is an important media to let people know the wrong doings of others, even if the story is not related to fashion e.g. Globe, SM, etc.. And besides, FP is not bias since if given a chance, it always post two sides of the story, so it is really up to the readers to decide which story to believe in.

I have been buying in Kingsmen for the longest time, for me to believe, that it is impossible for them to have any debt from anyone. They also are one of my company's supplier for uniforms. They may price a little higher but the quality is outstanding. I also believe that they will not comment since for them, who is RN? They may even feel it is beneath them to give out statement. Base on other reader's comments and story, RN seems to be a real liar, whatever gender he prefers to be.
