My Apologies

I would like to apologize to those who were upset when I posted the The Philippines is Not Fashion Forward? remix video. My intention was just to hear your opinions regarding the issue. I posted the remix version instead of the original just to spice it up a bit. I had no intentions of mocking or bullying her.

I just got back from Bangkok this morning and I am feeling very tired. I always feel down after every trip and this issue is making me feel worse. I am seriously thinking if I should still continue writing or not. Have a good Sunday!

  1. You should continue writing!! It doesn't matter if I can't identify who your blind item posts are. . . your blog is still very entertaining.

  2. go on writing!!! don't mind those who didn't like it, because many of us love your blog.

  3. Don't let one mere issue or one blog post with negative comments keep you from writing. You've apologized and explained your side the way TG did. I personally didn't think you were bullying but it seemed like that for others because the video seemed like a joke, like making fun of her.

Don't get too upset about it. Cheer up :)

  4. Don't stop! Or else, I'd feel down forever... seriously. I always keep on check FP.com for new posts :<

  5. You should continue. Your blog is your opinion, your choice. We cannot force others to accept our views all the time. But like I said, this is your blog and not theirs. You control what goes on here. You can choose not to 'publish' such contrary and mean views which are replete with bad grammar. Please do not be discouraged.

  6. I think you should continue and just learn from this. I also think that you were a little unlucky because emotions are running high right now over the issue. If you posted this two months ago (when the original video first came out) I don't think it wouldn't elicit as big as a reaction as it does now.

You've apologized already and made yourself heard and you come off as sincere (unlike some people who've made public apologies). I think people will (and should) accept that apology and move on and go on coming to your blog.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thank you for your message. It did make me feel better. I am lucky to have readers like you. =)

  8. As your blog becomes well known, you will encounter people who will pull you down. Our global society is built that way. No one is ever happy for somebody's success. Ignore all the negative comments. Please continue to write. You have a lot of things to offer.

  9. Please continue writing! Your blog is my happy pill from a long and tiring day. Don't stop please! :)

  10. At least you now have an idea of how bad it feels to get bashed (whether you're right or wrong) online. The number and/or content of the comments you got were far less worse than what Tricia got. At least you weren't insulted personally, etc (ie. out of topic criticisms).

  11. Don't stop writing. Just consider this as a learning experience.

I just learned about your blog from last week and I'm hooked. I can't stay away anymore. If you go, many of us, your readers will be sad..

  13. Loved your blog.

But lately I noticed a hint of affectation and shall I say, meanness and arrogance.

Good you apologized. That was really not nice. Enjoy your " 15 minutes" while it lasts.

  14. Dear FP,

Go lang! Continue writing please! Your blog makes workplace much much more bearable.

You've apologized. What's one entry? Also, I personally didn't consider that video post amounted to bullying. So please, yes, continue writing.

God bless and I hope you feel better soon. :)

  15. I don't think you should quit writing. I honestly don't understand some people who are reacting so negatively about the remix post. I mean hello, this is kinda a gossip blog and that in itself means writing stuff that could be hurtful. No offense. Besides, everyone who reads and loves your blog is guilty of being mean or being bullies at one point. If not, what the hell are they doing here, right?
Seriously, go on writing :) Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

  18. you don't need to apologize because you didn't do anything wrong.

those who are defensive of her should be apologizing to you for making like kalat in your blog. like.. T is their goddes just like those people who are defending W.

    great job Mike!

  19. Mike, you are not the first blogger to get this much negative feedback. Others get even worse! They say people are just bolder and, sadly, more tactless when they comment online because it's anonymous. They are stripped of their inhibitions coz no one will know it came from them. So they tend to use strong, sometimes, hurtful words. Do not mind those, definitely ones from anonymous commenters. Malakas lang ang loob ng mga yan kasi hindi sila kilala. But I am such a huge fan from the start and I hope you really will continue to entertain us with your funny and juicy blind items :)

To those who commented negatively: ang galing galing nyo mambintang ng online bullying, eh yung iba sa inyo online bullies din ang dating ng comments. If you don't like what you see on this blog, then go somewhere else. You are not obliged to read the posts here!

  20. frankly, I noticed that lately the topics are getting meaner in the sense that we seem to be getting our daily dose of humor from someone else's misery...your blog started out featuring blind items exposing someone's meanness and now it seems they just exploit innocent people's "skeletons in their closets"...am not trying to be a hypocrite or to be self-righteous here, except that some people in your blind items never did anything bad naman, except that life handed them some bad deals...

  21. go........go...........go........on writing.

  22. No need to apologize. Your readers know that your blog wasn't created with the intention to lambast and bully people online, but to keep us occupied with silly stories about people we never thought we could touch with a 10 foot pole.

I'd have to disagree with the comment above me. We don't chuckle at someone else's misery, but it assures us that really, no one's perfect. It's in our culture to gossip, but at the end of the day chismis is just chismis. It's not an attack unless people admit to it and take it personally. I read and enjoy your blog for what it is--including your tidbits about travel, fashion, shopping etc. :)

  23. I don't think you need to apologize. It's your blog and you can write whatever you want. I'm sure your readers are intelligent enough to recognize that bullying was never your intention.

Please continue with this blog. It's a fun read!

    ReplyDelete
  24. keep writing! I saw that comment. you can't make everyone happy. the majority of your readers enjoy your blog. if they don't like it, they shouldn't read it.

keep blogging. personally, I didn't find the video offensive.

  25. No need to say sorry!!!! There is no rule that tells you to be nice all the time!!!

  29. No need for apology. This is cyberspace, everybody has an opinion. There was no bullying. She had an opinion and others have their opinions. We are all adults, if people don't like what they see here they can move on. It is your blog, you have the final say and not other people.

"...your blog started out featuring blind items exposing someone's meanness and now it seems they just exploit innocent people's "skeletons in their closets"

I respectfully disagree. I don't think most of the people in the blind items are innocent. They are all either bullies, scam artists, cheats, homewreckers, thieves or people who abuse other innocent people in some way or another. Yes, there is something inherently petty about gossiping, but on one hand, I think it serves a purpose when people like this are "exposed". Apart from the "we're all human" element someone already mentioned, it also teaches us to be wary of buying from certain designers, not to be fooled by an actress's pretty exterior, not to trust seemingly reputable people, etc., etc. If the skeletons in the closet was a secret like "Oh she's actually adopted" or "he has cancer but is hiding it", then yes, I think it would be exploitative to put that here. But when these people bullied/abused/took advantage of/scammed/stole from/cheated on/with other people to being with, then their acts (relating to the above only, of course), I think, are fair game.

  31. Dude no need to say sorry. Hello, that girl offended quite a number of Filipinos!

Excuse me to those who are defending her. Hindi ko kayo gets talaga.

  32. You were my prof in DLSU (Engltri, the one with the speeches). Once, I had the highest grade in your class but you screamed at me because the AV presentation was lousy. You said I was good but I was lazy. I have to say, that changed my life. Haha! :) Thank you.

  33. Please don't stop writing. You don't even need to apologize. Bullying was obviously not your intention when you posted about the fashion forward issue. Defensive lang yung iba jan.

  34. it's your blog, your voice. so keep on writing, we all know we can't please everybody all the time.

  35. Hi FP, me and my husband really love your blog. We admire your professionalism towards your readers.
Kya nga to those who are attacking this blog, if you dont like what you see or hear then go find some other blog. Or better yet create your own blog. Wlang makikialam sa inyo.

    More Power Mike!

  36. How is leaving a comment of disappointment towards FP a form of cyber bullying? They simply stated not being pleased with the TG video uploaded here. Uploading that video attracted so much negative attention and was intended to diss/mock TG therefore it is considered as cyber bullying. I'm here to clarify that even if I'm disappointed with the act, it does not mean I will no longer support FP. People tend to overreact that's why things get blown out of proportion. Let's move on from this.

  37. Dont stop writing! Just like the others, your site is my happy pill. Regarding negative comments, you can't please everybody and IMO you should just go on specially if you know you didn't mean any harm. I stopped blogging and still trying to be back after getting a bunch of negative comments & getting stalked as well by some people from my past whom I'd rather not see nor hear from them. Please don't be like me :)

On a lighter note, I always see you hosting a lot of Chinese weddings when I was still based in MNL, including my aunt's who happens to be a few batches higher than you in SSHS =) I admire how you can speak Mandarin fluently! I hope I can get you to host on my wedding itself in 2yrs time. Sending my greetings & love from Singapore <3

    ReplyDelete
  38. Dear sheenuhbaby,
Yes I have been hosting weddings for almost 20 years. I would love to host your wedding two years from now. Thank you for the words of encouragement. Your comment was an answered prayer. It means a lot to me.

  39. There's no need for you to apologize. It's your blog anyway. You can express your thoughts and opinions as long as you don't do harm to other people. Keep writing. Cheers! I know you, because I saw you at one of my friend's wedding

    ReplyDelete
  40. Oh dear you shouldn't apologize! There was nothing wrong with what you did. People who like to insinuate things should just get over it. Seriously. Keep writing! :)

  41. Don't be sorry! It was news, what the girl said was self-absorbed and disappointing. What's the difference from the rest of the stuff you post? This girl just has fans.
