Collectors never do. I collect Pokemon toys, including dolls, figurines and stuffed toys and they add a splash of joy and whimsy in my life. Growing up doesn't mean you have to let go of small joys. And do you know, collector's items create and appreciate in value over time. There is a rare pokemon card that was sold in millions of US dollars. Same with rare comic books.
For you, maybe. Ifnyou can afford it and you like to collect them, you can buy as you will. And before you say just donate that money -- the Dantes family also does philanthropy. Other people buy watches, cars and jewelry. Marian buys those too and also collects her stuffed dolls. My sister, a lawyer, continues to collect rare barbie dolls. It makes her happy.
