i am from iloilo and i can attest to how the Jaro Floodway project has been very helpful. Gone are the days na pag may bagyo, sure na babaha sa Jaro and even sa school namin before. This project took around 4-5 years but so worth it. Grateful to Iloilo City LGU for pushing for this project.
Ang galing. From what I've read, halos lahat ng taga Iloilo naka try magtanim ng either puno or mangrove. Requirement yan sa kanila and they are reaping the benefits.
My nieces and nephews are still in school sa iloilo. Ang tree planting private or public school man ay regular activity nila kada semester. May mga garden p school mga bata, nagtatanim sila ng mga puno at gulay. Part ng social activities and natural science/biology activities nila. So mga pamangkin ko, nagtatanim din sa bahay.

Actually kayang-kaya ng Pinas magpagawa sa Japan or Korea. I heard 4 billion ang budget sa flood control ng iloilo. Mas malaki pa ung ninanakaw ng mga politiko.
Yeah, sana Japanese engineers ang kunin..para sulit ang budget. They have great building standards that would last. Bridges and other governement infrastructures ibigay sa Japan na yan. Yung mga pinoy engineers they better work in some other countries.
Iloilo made it through the years of planning by the good leaders and cooperation of the people, dami ding squatters ng Iloilo dati sa City nila but they were able to transfer them into much better areas kaya nagamit pa yung lugar for flood control and beautification.
