    1. Kalaban nya is from la salle may pera din obviously

    2. Di pwede maging happy na lang? It takes talent and skills to win, not just money. Mas mayaman pa siguro mga kalaban niya from other uaap school.

  7. There's so much pressure upon her. Imagine, being the daughter of Richard Gomez who's a fencing rockstar and has all the means for training and media mileage.

    Congrats Juliana!

    5. Busy sa congress nanay nya at si Goma is the one who understands sports more than Lucy kaya cya sumama, dontyahthink?

      Delete
    6. Sa pagkakaalam ko, Goma is the Mayor sa Ormoc City while Lucy is a Congresswoman. Lucy is very supportive din kay Julianna but mas may alam si Goma sa larangan ng fencing.

    8. I think Lucy’s staying away from social media given the bad rap she got with the political decisions she made these recent years. Nakakamiss nga yung Youtube vlogs niya nakakarelax kaso di na niya tinuloy.

    9. Lucy is not into sports at bored sya sa mga ganyan na ganap

  9. Congrats Juliana! Nag-mana sa pagka-sporty from dad.

  10. She studies in UP pala. I’m surprised she didn’t go to uni abroad since they can afford it naman. (Not bashing UP at all, i studied there for a year, universities in the US and UK are objectively better lang talaga)

    1. Only child daw kasi so ayaw nila mapalayo kung nasa abroad. I watched or read it somewhere.

    2. If you look at it at a bigger picture, she may gain the desirable studies abroad but in reality it might be a waste of time/energy/money for her (please correct if I’m wrong- but they aren’t citizens, so she’d still need a special visa/F1/OPT in order to stay and work in the US.) In short, mas beneficial na dito nalang umpisahan ang karera nya. :-)

Congrats Juliana! Such beauty & brains! Saw her sa Sanctuario de San Antonio and na starstruck talaga ako sakanya. Iba ang appeal in person!

    3. May interview before that answered this. Goma and Lucy said they are proud of her for choosing to study in the Philippines, especially since we have universities that are highly qualified. She really wanted to represent a PI school in the International sports arena. That’s also why Juliana took extra courses so she can stay longer in school and compete more.

      Delete
    6. Just my opinion. If the unis are better in the US and UK bakit they outsource their IT, HR, Accountants, etc.. in the Philippines? Tingin ko it’s just the same. Mas better pa nga tayo kasi mas my humility tayo sa kanila, pwede mautusan and mas masipag.

Ang difference siguro between here and abroad is they have better facilities and you will get to experience to live and study in a different country.

    7. Baka di malet go ng parents. Unica Hija eh.

    8. Baka who knows mag master’s sya abroad: Europe or US... ok yan for me...Kasi it proves she’s smart! UP ba naman, and varsity pa! She’s so well rounded...depending on the school abroad, basta you can afford pasok ka...feeling ko tuloy ang tanda ko na... high school ata nung pinanganak sya now she’s in college!

    9. Maybe sa Masters and PHD niya mag ivy league si inday

    10. ayaw nina lucy magstudy sya abroad since only child

    11. Listen to her interview with Pia Arcangel and you would know why she chose UP and not study abroad like all the other nepo babies.

      Delete
    12. She mentioned in one of her interviews, that she chose to study in the Philippines because she didn't want to be away from her family.

      Delete
    13. Same thoughts here. Was surprised pa nga to learn just now she's studying in UP pala. True she can afford to study abroad if her family wanted. Good choice naman ang UP compared to pricey schools like Ateneo or La Salle.

      Delete
    14. Juliana prefers UP dahil UPgrads parents niya and ayaw niya malayo sa kanila.

    15. Baka inisip niya di niya need and number kalaban ang homesickness since only child siya, bka di nya kayanin

      Delete
    16. I mean number one kalaban homesickness

    17. Following the footsteps of her dad maybe pareho sila varsity players from UP

      Delete
    18. She didn’t pass the UPCAT. Nakapasok sya dahil sa volleyball varsity.

    19. Thanks for the info guys. She sounds like a good daughter, and smart and down to earth too.

5:10 im not in those fields so i wouldnt know. I’m just basing it on my personal experience. Mas madaming resources available to students such as bigger and better facilities. Also easier to get into grad school.

10:11 i agree. I assumed either abroad or Ateneo like her friend Claudia Barretto. I’m glad she chose UP, she’ll meet peers from diff walks of life. And UP culture is superior among PH unis, i still look back fondly at my time there

      Delete
    20. Bakit pinoproblema nyo to?! May isa pa ditong know-it-all sabihin ba naman di pumasa sa UPCAT like helloooo?!

The family can afford, julianna is obviously smart. Either she choose to study abroad or not, is none of our business. Ang nagma matter dito is J's decision & her parents supported her. Di tayo family kaya makikibasa nlng tayo and say our congrats.

Basic economics iyan.

      Delete
    22. @ 5:10 US outsourcing of workers has nothing to do with the quality of education here. It’s a matter of corporate choice to save money on salaries and fringes. The salary of 1 accountant here is equivalent to 10 or more accountants in India. It’s all about the corporate bottom line that matters.

      Delete
    23. 5:10 mas mura ang sahod

    24. 5:10 I will answer your question on IT being outsourced sa Pinas since yan background ko and have worked in Manila, SG, US and CA.

      Delete
    26. 2:13 we all know na one of the main reasons is the cost. Bakit galit na galit ka? Makatawag kapa ng t**** Kung tutuusin tinataas nga kita as pinoy who graduated from UP. Ang taas taas ng tingin mo sa ibang bansa eh our workforce can compete naman talaga. Minamalit mo ang Pilipinas.

  11. What happened sa pagiging volleyball varsity nia? I thought nakapasok sha ng UP bec for her tryout sa varasiy team. Or dual athlete ba sha sa fencing & volleyball

  13. Congrats, Juliana! Thank you also for representing the PH so well internationally.

  14. As a UP alumnus who has worked for major companies in South east Asia, Europe & the US, UP graduates are well regarded internationally. It was also very difficult to get in especially in Diliman & Science based courses. UP graduates easily get scholarships & fellowships abroad for Masters & PhD. The real advantage of universities in the US, Europe. Singapore, Japan & Korea are the facilities. They have huge endowments (billions of dollars) invested in infrastructure & research.

    1. Actually, if you come from the better high schools and universities in the Philippines, kayang kaya mo ang studies abroad. Mahirap lang makapasok dahil sa finances and yung mga technical requirements like SAT or A-levels. But just from academics alone, kaya ng estudyanteng Pinoy. Those with money go abroad kasi iba talaga ang image ng diploma from EU, UK, USA. I studied in EU and sa totoo lang, mas nahirapan pa ako sa academic requirements ng UP kesa abroad.

  16. Anak ni Aga and Charlene nagaaral abroad, same with Sharon’s daughter and few others na anak ng celebrities and politicians. Siguro they were able to secure visas like F1 etc so kaya rin for sure nila Lucy and Richard if they want to, it’s just that preferred lang siguro ni Julianna na sa Pinas magaral
