Hiding a Secret

Talents entering showbiz are often trapped in the image set forth by their managers and the subsequent producers who promise to propel them into fame. For example, a talent who has mestizo looks can be packaged with a false background of coming from a high society family to match the stereotyping of looks and a wealthy background.

An important factor for female talents, especially the young ones, is to have an impeccable past. If a female talent’s pre-showbiz days comprised behavior that is not suited for a good role model, such past should be kept hidden. Similarly, if a talent has undergone enhancements, proof of the before look should be erased from social media. Thus, damage control is immediately implemented to save the talent.

The most common way to address intrigues is to keep silent even if the clamor for the truth is loud. Accordingly, Female Talent (FT) seems to be following the path of silence when it comes to her issues. FT’s career had been marked with comments, from social media to her projects. Despite her refreshing looks, FT has been targeted as villainess outside of showbiz. Nonetheless, FT tried to defend herself, but then bashers will be bashers. However, one of the alleged secrets FT is hiding and denying is the existence of a lovechild who was born prior to her starting a showbiz career.

FT and her family opted to keep quiet even if private citizens have claimed to have known of her status years ago. Kibitzers believe that FT has to keep a clean image for her fans to continue to idolize her. Perhaps, FT could learn from other actresses who were in a similar predicament. Years of denial proved they were feeding their fans with lies as they themselves would later on admit the rumors were indeed true.

Repost: Erik Matti to Direct Prequel to Award-winning 'On the Job'

Erik Matti, one of the Philippines’ most celebrated filmmakers, is set to direct a prequel to “On The Job: The Missing 8,” his critically acclaimed political crime thriller franchise.

Reteaming Matti and screenwriter Michiko Yamamoto, the untitled pic will mark the third film in the “On The Job” trilogy which kicked off at Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight in 2013, and traveled worldwide.

“On The Job” was inspired by a real-life scandal in which prison inmates were temporarily released from prison to work as contract killers on behalf of politicians and high-ranking military officials.

The prequel, which Matti and Ronald Monteverde are producing under their Manila based Reality MM Studios banner, is set against the turbulent backdrop of the island of Mindanao where Pedring Eusebio, the corrupt Mayor of a fictional city called La Paz, rises to power. Eusebio, who started out in the rebel paramilitary group New People’s Army, has become the most influential politician and feared man in La Paz.

Filipino actor Jericho Rosales has been cast as Pedring Eusebio, and Ryan Agoncillo as Rene Pacheco, a high-ranking military official who makes his way into politics. Further cast will be announced at a later stage.

Principal photography is set to begin in the third quarter of 2023 in Philippines, with Matti’s regular cinematographer Dino Piacino lensing.  The film will boast a soundtrack, according to the production.

“I love 1970s Hollywood crime films, or French Jean-Pierre Melville-type cop corruption movies that are no longer being made, although these are films that audiences still enjoy,” said Matti.

“The prequel to ‘On The Job” and “On The Job: The missing 8″ provides another opportunity to bring a fresh, new Filipino crime story with international appeal to the world,” Matti continued.

The second film in the trilogy, “On The Job: The Missing 8” represents Philippines in the Oscar race. The movie played at Venice and won John Arcilla the Volpi Cup in the Horizons section.

A leading figure in the Manila film industry, Matti has directed nearly 20 features in the Philippines, spanning family dramas such as “Mano Po 2: My Home,” to the superhero comedy “Gagamboy,” supernatural action adventure film “Tiktik: The Aswang Chronicles,” and several commercially successful horror films such as “Seklusyon” and “Kuwaresama.”

The Over Friendly Girlfriend

Friendly Girlfriend (FG) joined the entourage of her Serious Boyfriend (SB) overseas sometime ago. Although FG and SB come from different worlds, they proved prophets of doom wrong given that their relationship seems to be for keeps.

The group of SB comprised a formal bunch of personalities, but FG felt she could easily fit in. One time, FG felt chummy and blurted out a question addressed to an Older Lady (OL). FG asked OL who she was intimate with as she has not had a boyfriend for the longest time. The other members of the entourage were shocked at the straightforward question of FG. SB was embarrassed but could not reprimand FG given that OL happened to be someone who deserves a bit of respect and distance. The rest of the entourage realized they were suddenly in an awkward situation and did not know how to react. They were, of course, watching for OL’s reaction.

Then, FG opened up to diffuse her unpredictability. She revealed that when she stayed with SB for several months, he did not mind her bedroom needs. Did FG insinuate something about SB? Hence, a boyfriend did not guarantee intimacy.

Incidentally, FG is also selling jewelry and her target clients include SB’s group, too. FG proudly brags that SB gave her the capital for her entrepreneurial activities.

BEY Enters A New Era And She Wants To Be 'Close 2 U' On Her Latest Release!

Following the release of “Dahilan” last year, BEY is ready to unveil her soothing track “Close 2 U”! Unlike her previous single, this song is filled with so much R&B sensibilities and is definitely an emerging anthem for your slow jams and late nights – all thanks to Fern and Kindred for its overall production. (LISTEN HERE)

With “Close 2 U”, BEY shows off her refined vocals that continue to captivate new listeners. A wonderful fusion of good rhythm and super catchy lyrics, depicting the struggles of finding yourself in a situation where you feel lost and perplexed. The singer hopes that somehow this original song of hers can help its listeners to cope as they go through that certain situation.

BEY’s “Close 2 U” arrives alongside a must-see official music video with actor Ruru Madrid, coming out later this month.

It’s definitely a vibe and it’s safe to say that it’s slowly turning into her ultimate track thus far.

Time to get close to this new BEY single because it's out everywhere! It’s currently at the 6th spot of Philippines iTunes Top Songs and is part of Spotify Fresh Finds Philippines Playlist as well. Speaking of that streaming platform, the singer is also on the cover of “poses” playlist curated by Spotify.

Another Separation Rumor

Is the fairy tale about to end? Are the sacrifices going to be meaningless after all? A young showbiz couple is beset with rumors of a troubled relationship.

Followers are worried that something might be causing tension between Young Actor (YA) and his Beautiful Partner (BP). According to rumors, YA has been leaving their home at night and arriving early morning. The speculation is that YA has been attending parties and living like he’s single and responsibility-free. Thus, this behavior has caused arguments, which insiders feared could lead to a permanent separation.

BP allegedly has been giving her best to keep their family together, but YA could have reached his saturation point and no longer wants to be with YA. While deletion of couple photos from social media signals trouble, YA and BP have not reached that point. Although their couple phots seemed to have lessened, some noticed that neither would tag each other in such photos.

Separation might be easy but YA and BP have been seen as models early on given that they fought for their relationship and sacrificed many opportunities. Of course, when the truth came out, they were forgiven for the denials they had concerning their relationship. Once they seemed to be sure of each other, they even planned for the future by putting up a business as a showbiz career might not be as stable. Now, the breakup rumor is buzzing in the grapevine.
