A former “Riverdale” actor who admitted to murdering his mother also wanted to kill Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, it was revealed in court.

Ryan Grantham — who played teen Jeffery Augustine on the hit CW show — pleaded guilty to second-degree murder for shooting mom Barbara Waite in the back of the head as she played piano in their British Columbia home on March 31, 2020.

During his sentencing hearing on Monday, prosecutors said Grantham then packed his car with three guns, ammunition, 12 Molotov cocktails, camping supplies and a sheet with directions to Rideau Cottage where Trudeau lives in Ottawa, CBC News reported.

Grantham, 24, mentioned his plan to kill the Liberal Party leader in statements to authorities and from a private journal read in court, the report said.

But he drove only a few hours east before turning around with thoughts of killing people on Vancouver’s Lions Gate Bridge or at the university where he was a student.

He ultimately drove to Vancouver police headquarters instead, approached an officer in a police car and said, “I killed my mother.”

Besides his supporting role in “Riversdale,” a show based off the “Archie” comic book series, Grantham also appeared in TV’s “Supernatural” and the movie “Dairy of a Wimpy Kid.”

In Riverdale, the character played by Grantham is actually responsible for killing Archie’s father in a hit and run driving accident, according to an Archie fandom page.

In the months leading up to his mother’s slaying, the court heard Grantham felt hopeless and had a desire to commit violence, according to CBC. He even contemplated suicide with feelings of anger and anxiousness over perceived failures.

He did a walk-through of the crime by secretly approaching his mother with a gun on one occasion; a Go-Pro camera caught at least one of his rehearsals, CBC News reported.

More footage shows his mother’s dead body with him saying, “I shot her in the back of the head. In the moments after, she would have known it was me.”

In his March 31 journal entry he wrote, “I’m so sorry mom, I’m so sorry Lisa … I hate myself.”

After the shooting, he went out to get money, weed and beer and then experimented making Molotov Cocktails and watched Netflix before covering his mom’s body in a sheet and going to bed, according to his statement to police.

Before he left the British Columbia townhouse the next day, he hung a rosary on the piano and arranged lit candles around the 64-year-old’s body.

Waite’s body was found later that day by her daughter Lisa Grantham after her mother didn’t return texts and phone calls, CBC News reported.

“How can I trust anybody when my only sibling chose to execute my mom when her back was turned,” she said during the hearing.

Grantham pleaded guilty to the murder on March 9 in BC Supreme Court. He faces life in prison.

    1. Your comment and word choices shows how ignorant you are when it comes to mental health. Hindi lang supposed "upbringing" ang factor. Maraming possible causes esp those na nag ccaise ng childhood trauma or feeling of neglect.

    2. Yep. May mga inborn talaga eh. Iba wirings ng utak nila. Kahit anong klase pa ng pagpapalaki wa epek.

    3. 10:21, 12:01 So are you both saying you're firm believers that someone can be born evil? Grabe naman kayo. There are different factors that can lead to killing another

    4. Crude wording lang naman but tama naman sila to say that someone can be born evil.
May mga tao talaga that are genetically predisposed to it even walang environmental factors.
Eg Ted Bundy, Joanna Dennehey, Jeffrey Dahmer

    5. 10:21 nge? try mong manuod ng crime documentaries. halos lahat ng killer/serial killer nagsisimula sa abusive parents, brain surgery hanggang sa bullying. minor lang dyan yung mga since birth pure evil no.

    6. 1:18 try mo magresearch sa mga child murderers/killers. trip lang nipa pumatay ng kapwa bata just because fun. lol

    7. This is true, not born evil or killers, but more of psycho. Their brain is just wired differently.

    8. Yeah i saw a docu before about this, may mga pinanganak na wired differently, pero ma peprevent naman siya basta with guidance sa parents, loving environment( and i think may maintenance na iniinum yata and check up).

    9. Parang yung parents ni Anna Delvey who gave up on her. I also have a relative na problematic, the father is at a loss dahil lahat naman ginagawa nila to ensure a good upbringing- love, attention, money, education and even repeated rehab pero wala talaga. There are just people who are wired differently.

    11. 1:18, that is the difference of Psychopath and Sociopath. Psycopaths, they have mental problems. Lack of hormones, different composition of brain matter, etc. Literal sa brain nila ang problem. Sociopaths, influenced ng environment, upbringing, abuse, etc. From outside world kumbaga.

      Delete
    3. sa US naman yata at hindi sa Canada yung sinasabi mo na madali lang makabili ng baril without doing a background check?

      Delete
    4. No, not in Canada. Very strict sa gun law. For sure sa illegal pagbili nya.
Bawal dumaan kung saan if dala ung baril.
      Madami lang tlga may saltik.

  6. Apparently, he killed his sick mum to "spare" her from his plan of committing mass murders. He was 24 yesrs old but all these kiddie pictures make it all more creepy. May she rest in peace and may he get the help he needs or stay locked up - and never harm anyone again.

    1. Yes, they want to make an impression na they know something about mental health. Mangyari kaya sa kanila o sa mama nila, madedepensahan pa kaya nila ang murderer at ang pagiging mentally unstable that he is not to be blamed ek-ek?

      Delete

  8. What is wrong with the world? Ang dali nlang pumatay ng tao. Karamihan pa ng gustong manakit sayo kilala mo pa. Hay…
