Repost: Malacañang Says President Duterte Supports Mass Testing

Malacañang assured on Sunday that President Duterte will support the conduct of mass testing on the public for the coronavirus disease (COVID19) once the Philippines becomes fully equipped for it.

Presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo gave the assurance as the public continues to clamor for the conduct of nationwide mass testing to allow the government to undertake proper steps to combat the deadly disease.

The President will support all of that once we have all the necessary equipment. Because if we don’t have them, how can we implement such measure)?” he told DZRH.

The Department of Health (DOH) has rejected the proposal to conduct mass testing because of the country’s limited resources.

“While we already have 100,000 testing kits, and we expect more to arrive, these are not enough to conduct mass testing,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

On Sunday, the number of COVID19 positive cases in the Philippines breached the 1,000-mark, bringing the total to 1,418.

A total of 2,686 tests for COVID-19 were conducted in the country as of Saturday afternoon based on DOH’s tracker.

The death toll among COVID-19 patients rose to 71. The new deaths were all elderly people aged between 60 to 86 years old. All of them were Filipino nationals.

Four more patients have recovered from COVID-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 42.

    1. Paasa pa more.

    5. Kasi nga we're not fully equipped. We're very low of supply of testing kits. Ang SKorea lang ang nakakapag mass test because they manufacture their own kits and had experienced SARS before, so they are prepared for it. And nagkakakulangan na. Even USA is declaring kulang kits nila.

Im not pro-govt but we have to understand that our medical system is already defective since then. May kulang talaga tayong kagamitan. And the current govt now can only do so much.

The Luzon Lockdown is only until April 14, 2020

State of Calamity po ang 6 months.

Ang State of Calamity IS NOT THE SAME as the Luzon lockdown.

"A state of calamity means the national and local government can access its quick response funds to address the needs of the public and enhance disaster preparedness efforts" - CNN Philippines

    5. Ah 2:32 what's the difference? So pagdating ng April 14 back to normal? Same lang yun kaya nga state of calamity dahil Lockdown. Yung Community Quarantine yung until April 14 yung Enhance Community Quarantine ang 6mos ang time frame nila at the Very least which is also the Luzon Lockdown And hence declaring State of Calamity.

    6. Ba yan di marunong umintindi kahit panuorin mo enhanced commmunitt quarantine, until APRIL 12 LANG YUN. Check mo pa official pages at websites eh.

      It's still until April.
Pero sa actual announcement, it's still supposed to end April.

      Delete
    8. 252, magkaiba ang ECQ at state of calamity. State of calamity rin naman kapah may baha pero hindi naglolockdown.

I believe ieextend malamang ang ECQ/luzon lockdown pero as it stands, hanggang april 14 palang ang announced. We are awaiting the new pronouncement. The president still has not extended the lockdown.

Virus pinag uusapan. Napaka impossible matapos nito bago end of april lalo na kung matagal pa vacvine or gamot. That's why we need mass testing. Kakupad kupad ng gibyerno. Ung special opwers at 275B fund magdamag naipasa pero walang sense of urgency mag set up ng labs at mag mass testing.

      Delete

E April 12 tapos na Pala according to you Para saan ung state of calamity ng 6mos?!

      Delete
    12. I think kaya 6 months ang state of calamity dahil hindi agad-agad ang recovery (economy-wise). Di ibig sabihin dahil wala nang enhanced quarantine ay back to normal na ang businesses. After the quarantine panigurado marami pang mawawalan ng trabaho. Remember, global crisis ito, global din ang recession so it’ll probably take at least a year (optimistic point of view) before recovery starts.

What MASS TESTING means is MARAMIHANG TESTING. Immediately test ALL PUMs/PUIs and FRONTLINERS. Unahin na sila. 6k ang PUMs. Nasa 1K ang PUI (?), less than 1K ang frontliners. We have 100k test kits. Less than 10k ang initial na kailangan. Bat hindi kaya?

After testing them, ISOLATE ang positive. Start contact tracing. Then TEST these people na nakasalamuha nila.

Gets ko naman na doctors make several tests sa isang tao to check if gumaling na, BUT WHAT’S IMPORTANT NOW is malaman ang POSITIVE, ISOLATE, CONTACT TRACE. Siguro secondary na yung re-test to check if recovered na.

Nakaka 25k tests sila a day, even more. Dito sa atin hindi man lang ata nag 1k a day. Kaloka.

    4. True.

For common people to ah.

    5. 1:41 get your facts straight. Meron tayong drive thru assessment/testing center. Kung meron kang simtonas, tawag ka public health number, they will instruct you sa pinakamalapit na drive thru then get yourself assessed and swabbed. If your condition does’nt admission pauwiin ka and advised for self quarantine. Pls wag magpakalat ng disinformation.

    8. Whatever is Canada's reason for not doing mass testing, they're still working on speeding up their tests targeting 3000-5000tests a day. Sa Pinas 2680 pa lang ang natests, 1400 came out positive. That's so scary, kailangan nila irealign ang budget sa testing. Ihinto

    11. Tbh at this point people should be asking the ph government for ventilators, PPEs, and temporary hospitals. Too late na for mass testing, most likely kalat na kalat na yung virus and it's only a matter of time bago magmanifest ang mga symptoms sa mga infected. Bodies are about to pile up two weeks from now. Importante parin yung rapid tests, pero it makes more sense na at this point i-prioritize na yung staff sa mga hospitals, iflatten yung curve through lockdowns/quarantines, at to make sure na hindi maooverwhelm ang mga ospital (which honestly is too late at this point pero baka makahabol pa). The ph government screwed up with their initial response, and lost 2 months worth of preparation habang hinahayaang mag tour ang mga galing sa epicenter. Wag kayong magpadala dun sa mga shunga na nagsasabi na suportahan ang gobyerno cause they're doing eveeything they can--they're too incompetent and absolutely indifferent to the point that they all see you as collateral damage. If they can't get the equipmemt they're just gonna let the virus run its course without any mitigation and see if herd immunity could work. Don't let fanaticsm be the hill that you literally die on.

    13. On point, 2:51. This is what I’ve been arguing about with my friends. The government’s response was too late. They were not prepared AT ALL. No contingencies in place, so they were left with no choice but to make a sweeping action at the expense of the people. I don’t think they contemplated on the repercussions of their actions. The swift order of a lockdown without implementation guidelines is a clear proof that they never had a plan.
The people will always be their sacrificial lamb, “collateral damage” as the president fondly loves to call it.
