    7. Inggit lang mga netizens sa US Thanksgiving celebration kasi hindi walang alam sa history ng christianity brought by the pilgrims to the US.

Lahat ginagaya. Mga Frustrated Americans. Kahit nga Christmas decorations with a snow , doon natin ginaya.
Yun lang, it doesn't fit right to greet Happy Thanksgiving here for it is not our holiday.
I know some Filipinos who celebrate Thanksgiving here. They are American citizens (they really feel and live by it) and some who are graduates of International school ( which was the American school).

      Delete
    10. Hi Anon 2:07, the Pilgrims left England to freely practice religion. They boarded the ship called Mayflower, and only half of the passengers survived. The American Indians helped these Pilgrims survived in the newfound land by teaching them about planting and harvesting. That's the reason why the US celebrate Thanksgiving.

    11. 2:07am google is the key.

Nakaka-alta. Pero it really is to celebrate the pilgrims' first harvest noong 1621 sa US. May historical basis yan sa celebration nila. Dito sa atin, waley historical basis but more like pakiki-uso.

      Delete
    13. True. Nakiki-celebrate without really knowing the reason or origin of the celebration. Dito naman sa Canada, ahead yung Thanksgiving pero majority of the retailers are joining the Black Friday bandwagon. Pera pera na lang talaga.

      Delete
    14. Di naman tayo Chinese pero nagcecelebrate tayo ng Chinese New Year. Duh.

    15. kaloka tong netizen na to.. every year pag eid, binabati din ang mga muslim, and chinese new year, binabati ang mga chinese. pati holiday pinagdadamot haha.

      Delete
    16. 9:32 It's lunar new year. Duh. Tinawag lang na chinese new year coz maybe ang sentro ng activities ay sa chinatown? Also, the whole world used to refer to the whole east asia as china, ngayon lang naman nagkaka identity yang korea.

  2. Oa ng commenter ha. Meron talaga ibang tao na regardless of their nationality, choose to acknowledge other Holidays from foreign countries. Mayroon din kaming alay and all the whatnots of the holiday.

      Delete
    3. You can’t celebrate other people’s tradition and pretend it’s yours when it is not. Respecting it, yes. Actually celebrating it, no.

      Delete
    4. Mga jewish nga they also greet their christian friends merry christmas!

      Delete
    5. Chinese New year nga holiday pa sa Pinas.

    6. And why not 3:07? Celebrating other traditions is not claiming it as your own. It’s not being pa-uso either. It’s called being inclusive. I live in SG and my Hindi, Muslim, and Buddhist friends/colleagues have Christmas lunch with me. I celebrate Deepavali / Hari Raya / Chinese New Year with them. They even give gifts to all our colleagues on Christmas.

    7. Di ba may lahi si Dawn na Puerto Rican? Puerto Rico is part of US. So may right naman sya magcelebrate.

      Delete
    8. Daming mema. For me, isa sa mga pinakamagandang holidays sa US ang Thanksgiving. It's that time of the year that you get to think of the things we should and are grateful for. Madaming di nakakaisip nyan dito even pag Pasko. Walang masama kung gusto nila i-follow yung tradition. Grabehan lang sa mga makareact.

      Delete
    9. 6:34, Persian ang lahi niya, hindi Puerto Rican.

    7. Ha, ha, cranberry pie! Try pumpkin pie with marshmallows on top. Mas masarap. Leave the cranberry for the turkey stuffing.

    8. 9:13, true. Lalu na if you know the history behind the Thanksgiving celebration.

    2. This! I find it funny and somewhat irritating na parang ginagaya lagi ang holidays ng US. Meron legit history behind Thanksgiving holiday para sa mga taga US and Canada.

      Delete
    3. Why make an issue? the reason doesn't even matter.Sabi nga nya,it's tradition sa kanila.simple. You carry it wherever you go. Respeto lang yan. If you don't celebrate it. then that's fine. If you do then that's fine too.

In short, sabit lang ako (pero pinagpaalam naman ako ng kasama ko bago kami pumunta dun) LOL and I was surprised that time that some pinoys celebrate it also.

      Delete
    3. 4:06 where did you get that from? i am an american citizen, spent half my life in the east coast. just because i don’t partake in all the celebrations, you can assume i do not love my adoptive country. i just learn so much history (the real one, not the whitewashed version history books) and learned first hand information from native american, hispanic, and african american friends to know that not everything is a celebration, but remembering and respecting.

you’re most likely the type of filipino who just set a foot in this country and eventually forget who you are smh. take your colonial logic somewhere else.

  52. Its ok if the intention of the greeting is for people in the US celebrating Thanksgiving. If you were an expat living abroad, I don't see the reason not to celebrate it as well. But to actually celebrate it the way Americans do, while in the Philippines, its kind of absurd. This tradition, I think should be exclusive to Americans/Canadians because it is deeply rooted in their country's history. Pinoys have sort of thanksgiving naman during fiestas, thanking the Patron saint for good harvest.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I really don't understand how pinoys in the Philippines with no American affiliation celebrate Thanksgiving.. I mean there's history behind it why the Americans celebrate it. If you wanna give thanks fine but don't connect it with American Thanksgiving. I really cringe when pinoys greet each other happy Thanksgiving on American Thanksgiving day. Please know the history of Thanksgiving first. It's not just about turkey and pumpkin pie. Or choose a different day nalang. We can actually give thanks everyday.. Why choose the American holiday?
