    9. 3:15 Kindly read it again. Gerard only shared the complaint, he was asking for a clarification.

    13. Actually, trombone is not that big. Perhaps you're talking about Tuba? Sousaphone for that matter? Liit lang kasi ng trombone...

    3. Ive seen it done many times. You have to inform the airline in advance so they can secure the overhead space for it.

      Delete
    4. You meant cello, right?

      Delete
    5. I can imagine someone carrying a cello...but a CIELO? Ano yern? :D

      Delete
    6. hahaha. kaloka ung cielo. ano ba yun?????????????

      Delete
    7. We often travel to different countries as a string quartet (manageable) and sometimes an orchestra (headache!). We buy tickets for the large instruments. Usually it gets strapped into its own seat (expensive). Sometimes it gets into a special compartment within the cabin (cheaper fee), overhead’s too small for some instruments. Made arrangements with the airline ahead of time, during booking. No problem naman either PAL, or many other airlines.

      Delete
    8. Usually, if you want to carry cello as a carry on luggage, you need to purchase a seat for it.

  3. ano daw? eh bakit yong ukelele pwede? eh pwede din namang ipanghampas ng ulo yon if in case may mag away.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies

      Delete
    2. Sis binasa mo ba ung reply o d ka maka intindi? Ung overhead space nila maliit, di kasya ang guitars or piano or what not. Ukulele is allowed since maliit sya and can probably fit inside overhead space

      Delete
    3. THEY NEED TO BUY A SEAT FOR THEIR INSTRUMENTS IF IT'S TOO BIG. THEY CALL IT EXTRA SEAT OR CABIN BAGGAGE. DON'T KNOW WHY THEY ARE NOT AWARE IF THEY ARE FREQUENT TRAVELERS?

      Delete
    4. 1:47 yaan mo na si 1:10. Di pa nakakasakay ng eroplano or kahit naggoogle muna bago magcomment. Mamaru kasi.

      Delete

      Delete
  4. Entitled naman masyado. Safety din ng ibang passengers un. Tska policy nga e wala ka choice. Policy nila un

    1. Does asking for clarification a form of entitlement? Grabe naman.

      Delete
    2. Musical instruments are very expensive. I mean VERY expensive. Some are even priceless. Airlines employees are known for mishandling and breaking these instruments and most of them doesn't pay the whole value when broken or lost. That's why a lot top international airlines allow hand carry to put in a special bin of musical instruments.

      Delete
    3. @1:19, well, when he pointed out himself being a musician and mentioned his sister being an endorser and again himself as the one who made their inflight intro, he isn't just mere asking for clarification.

      Delete
    4. Then if its that expensive.. buy a seat for your instrument.. maka expensive ka but cant afford to buy space

      Delete
    5. Anon 1:24 Then he should pay for the extra cabin fee. If you can afford these VERY expensive instruments then you can certainly afford the fee. Theres a set space for equally allocates for all passengers. If you require additional space, which he does, then pay up.

      Delete
    6. There is a violin priced at 1 million dollars. If the ground personnel mishandled a valued instrument, will they pay?

      Delete
    7. 1:24 who cares?

      Delete
    9. Entitlement talaga. May magclarify bang nangampanyang wag sumakay ng PAL? First time ni Salonga sumakay ng eroplano at need pakasayahin ang piano?

      Delete

      Delete
    11. 1:24 E di, i-fedex nya, and and put "fragile" on it and have it insured. Theres no such thing as a special bin.

      Delete
    12. YES to that 1:24! I've seen how they pile the baggage for boarding the plane juskoooo talagang wish mo walang fragile items na di nakasecure doon.

      Delete
    13. 1:24 Then they should pay for the cabin overhead fees like what PAL. Kung mahal yung gamit mo for sure you can afford to pay additional for that very expensive musical item. Its like why buy a STRADIVARIUS if you can’t afford TOPNOTCH insurance

      Delete
    14. Kung kaya pala ng expensive things. Why not rent a plane or buy a hella plane

      Delete
    15. You guys are so naive if you think by putiing "fragile", they actually treat it as babasagin. Simple google will show you tons of airline complaints about missing baggages and broken "fragile" items.

      Delete

      Delete
    17. Im right now travelling, walang special treatment or special bin.At lalong strict dito sa ibang bansa pagdating sa luggage size. You will hand the big items to the person on the counter.Checked in lahat yan.Walang nagdala ng malalaking bagay.Magkamali ka lang dito sa international airline, ipapa iwan mga luggage mo or you will pay extra.

      Delete
He shared the complaint to ask kung ano yung reason talaga. He was not the complainant. Plus he mentioned frequent flyer sila ng PAL meaning they love PAL and sana magsabi ng matinong dahilan.

      Delete

      Delete
    20. 6:57 --There is a violin priced at 1 million dollars. If the ground personnel mishandled a valued instrument, will they pay? ----

AFFORD MO ANG INSTRUMENT NA GANYAN,
AFFORD MO DIN ANG CHARTERED PLANE...

      wag engot

    21. True! Baklang manicurista. May 1m ayaw magsibayad for the luggage o kaya ipa special delivery niya.

      Delete
  5. Masyadong entitled to

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Its not. And the airline employees were being rude about it pa.

      Delete
    2. misused use of "entitled"...

      Delete
    3. Guidelines ng eroplano un. Itawag muna or mag abiso if magdadala ng mga ganyan bagay. Take it or leave it. Wag dalin kung ayaw ipabagahe! Rules dpat sumunod. Hay

      Delete
    4. He was not the complainant. He was just asking for a clarification. So papano naging 'entitled' si Gerard?

      Delete
  6. Calm down Salonga. Yall nothing special . Everyone has to abide by these rules. They’re strict on everyone.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Did you even bother reading whose post was Gerard was quoting from? He was simply and politely asking PAL for clarifications. How did he come of as not calming down?

      Delete
    2. Meh, it’s not about rules. It’s about providing cabin space for expensive and similar items in the cabin that other airlines do provide.

      Delete
    3. The clarification is it's their policy.

      Delete

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Kaysa nga pero baka the instrument can occupy the whole space. Or Baka full flight sila. Kaya Hinde allowed ?

      Delete
    2. d ka maka intindi? Ung overhead space nila maliit, di kasya ang guitars or piano or what not. Ukulele is allowed since maliit sya and can probably fit inside overhead space.

      Delete
    3. Airlines like quantas, singapore and and british airways for example has special bin for instruments and other high value large hand carry. You will hand the instrument when you enter the plane. Phil air should do the same kasi marami talaga silang lost items.

      Delete
    4. PAL is too cheap to provide a special cabin for musical instruments and the like. Their planes are too crowded with maximum number of seats.

      Delete
    5. 1:48 wag pilosopo.

      Delete
    6. 2:12 those airlines you mentioned does not allow hand carry items that do not fit the luggage size. You will have to check the items in.Then they place a fragile sticker to your important luggage.

      Delete
    7. 11:29 Yes they do, i know coz i've done it before not with musical instrument though. It was artworks for me and the stewardess took it from me to put in a separate storage upon entering the plane and gave it back when we landed. Same thing happened with my baby stroller.

      Delete
    8. 12:40 I brought sports items with me,riding the airlines you mentioned and it was checked in.Not hand carry.

      Delete
    9. 1:15 baka kasi masyadong malaki ang sports items mo. I was allowed to hand carry the artwork that I purchased and the airline stowed it for me and gave it back paglapag ng eroplano. This is the reason why singapore airlines at quantas are my preferred airliner. Emirates and ANA (japan) are very good too. They are very accomodating. PAL has a lot of growing up to do.

      Delete

      Delete
    11. Kung may matamaan yung mga items na hawak mo since siksikan na while boarding the plane, who is responsible for that?

      Delete

The irony.

      Delete
    2. Ganun din po sa iba.Kasi palagi akong nagtatravel.May size talaga at bigat ang kailangan.

      Delete
    3. PAL pa rin ako,at least you land safely, and not a SPIRIT.

      Delete

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. They dont allow it sa check in pag overbooked ang flight which is all the time kahit bayad pa yung seat.

      Delete

      Delete
    3. Meron naman, magbayad talaga sa counter for that.Pero hindi madadala as hand carry lalo na kung mas mahaba or mabigat than the allowed size.Very strict dito sa US.

      Delete
      Pag umandar eroplano.

      Delete
  11. For sure naging policy yan kasi nagkaroon na ng bad incident before. We should also be mindful of other passengers.. And if its for the sake of all esp safety.. THEN JUST ABIDE SA RULES.

Pero sana ma-handle with care din 'yung instruments if nilagay sa checkin. Minsan kasi bara bara mga tagahawak eh. Kuwawa din dahil mahal instruments.

    ReplyDelete
  12. WHY NEVER FLY?? JUST BECAUSE OF THE ZERO TOLERANCE FOR INSTRUMENTS? GERALD— maybe for those musicians who are have violins, guitars and other small instruments. HINDI lahat ng tao musicians kaya never encourage everyone not to fly PAL , no?!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Baka gusto mong basahin ulit yung post. Hindi si Gerard ang nag-encourage sa mga tao to "never fly Philippine Airlines..." He was asking on behalf of his friend; thus, he linked his friend's initial post. Yung friend nya ang nagsabing "never fly..." Basahin kasi muna ng maigi bago magreact. And his names is Gerard NOT Gerald.

      Delete

      Delete
  13. GERALD— for musicians lang with instruments yung announcement mo.I will
    Still fly PAL no?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Gerard did not post that, he quoted it from a musician friend named Allen Meek to ask for explanation.

      Delete
  14. Due to limited overhead space. Ukuleles are of the same size as just small luggages or even smaller. Its very understandable for PAL to not allow other type of musical instruments that's bigger and longer than a luggage like guitar for example. PAl also does not allow personal wheelchairs and strollers. And I believe that is fair for everyone. If you allow one passenger to bring something that would eat up a lot of space, might as well allow everyone. Though it is very unlikely for every passenger to bring a guitar on the same flight, it's just nice to have guidelines and policies on black and white.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Correct.I am in the airport, travelling back to Manila.Ive seen passengers na may strollers at binawal sa counter, they need to show the items then it needs to be checked in,not hand carried.

      Delete
Pwede hes just asking kayo naman hindin niyo pa ba experience din and you don't know what instrument he's asking about. Hes aking if in general thats the policy or certain lang.

    1. Nakakailang travel na ba yang si Gerald? So alam na nya dapat yan.Ano ang purpose?

      Delete
    2. Tingin mo itatanong niya kung alam niya lol

      Delete
  16. Maybe Gerard’s friend is carrying a violin... still a big size for overhead space compartment.

    ReplyDelete
  17. You have to pay extra seat for your music instrument, so they can tie it to it. That’s what I‘ve read when I checked if it’s okay for handcarry.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Wrong. Their policy is no musical instrument at all, bigger than ukulele, in the cabin. Even if you can pay.

      Delete
  18. If his instruments kaysa sa overhead Paano kung yung carry on mo can occupy one whole overhead? Paano naman yung katabi mo? Sympre in one row you share in one overhead right? Example sa isang row Tatlo kayo diba? Paano naman katabi mo? Second, baka that’s their new rules na bago na that need to follow sympre May mga sharp objects din mga instruments na yan that can use for terrorism while your on flight Hinde natin alam diba? Usually mga gamit nila nasa malaki hardcase talaga as in heavy duty na parang baul made of metal na makapal.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yan din ang point ko kanina. Its not just about the compartment, its his musical instrument taking up the whole space of the luggage compartment na para sa iba pang passengers.

      Delete

      Delete
  19. Sana, hand carry ang musical instruments and then handed to the flight attendant, there’s another closet for coats and stuff, it can go in there. Special arrangements can be made sana.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Kahit sa ibang international airlines, hindi din allowed na i-hand carry ang musical instrument if it exceeds a certain allowable length. Pwede i-hand carry pero you have to pay for an extra seat.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ang bigat kaya ng gamit nila sige lets just say if share kayo ni passenger ng isang overhead Tapos bigla pag bukas mo nahulog si instrument sino liable Edi nag bukas... safety first! Violin at ukelele pwede naman ksi yun pwede mo yun hawak or itago
    Sa ilalim ng upuan.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Mr salonga should just buy an extra seat for his instrument

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's not him ata but his friend. So what are they supposed to do then?

      Delete
    2. He's only kinda passing on the message posted by Allen Meek

      Delete
    3. Then Allen Meek should just pay for the extra seat, have his instrument checked in or ride a boat! Or better yet dont travel.

      Delete
  23. Dear gerard...you were never a prof. Musican. Hinatak kalang ng pagsikat ng kapatid mo. Kung wala si lea... your nothing but a typical musician.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Nahiya naman si Gerard sa 'yo. He might have INITIALLY gain popularity as he is naturally associated with his famous sister BUT Gerard is a well-known conductor and composer. He is a very successful musician in his own right. Lea is well known kasi nasa harap sya ng entablado, while Gerard works mostly behind the scenes. He graduated in Ateneo and pursued his education in Berkelee University sa Boston, Massachusetts where he graduated as summa cum laude. Worked with Sony Pictures and for a time, with Ryan Cayabyab, among others. Siguro sya nga yung sinasabi mong "typical musician" kasi mas kilala sya sa labas ng bansa natin dahil doon mas maraming nakaka-appreciate ng ginagawa nya. :p

      Delete
    2. Haha napakabitter ng post

      Delete
    3. Dont be stupid. To be a conductor you have to "know" music. You have to be a musician first and skilled in music theory. The level of discipline and precise skill that classical musicians and practitioners need, di yan typical. genius ka ha? patawa ka

      Delete
    4. Ha? Nag aral sya ng Music. Summa cum Laude pa. Music is his profession. That's how he makes money. So paano sya hindi naging professional musician? Give him credit dahil pinaghirapan nya naman yung mga naabot nya, not because of his sister.

      Delete
    5. HUUUY! Kilabutan ka diyan! Gerard Salonga has already made a name for himself as a musical arranger, conductor, and musical director. Hindi porket hindi sya frontliner or stage talent like Lea, 'nahatak' lang sya - he has his own kind of exceptional musical talent.

      Delete
    6. Not a professional musician? He's summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music. And an orchestral conductor there in Pinas and abroad. Arranges music, too. If that's typical musician to you, your standard must be off the charts. I don't think even his sister can help him be a TOYM awardee, his achievements are all his.

      P.S. "You're", not "your nothing..."

      Delete
    7. HOMAYGAD!!!!!!! kaloka tong si baks.

      Delete

      Delete
  24. Inshort pwede naman as long as you pay! Avail their cabin baggage services. So choice mo na kung mag aavail ka or hanap ka nalang ng ibang airlines na walang fee yung pagdala ng instruments as hand carry. Hahaha. Easy money for PAL

    ReplyDelete
Char

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think PAL changed its rules kc in 2015 when we moved here in CA through PAL, my husband handcarried his acoustic guitar. Of course it won’t fit in overhead bin kaya they took and put somewhere else.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Exactly. That's how other airlines do it too.

      Delete
  29. Hmmm....well, where are they going to put a large musical instrument in the cabin anyway? People can hardly move in there.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Just take other airlines. They have special spaces for those instruments in the cabin. PAL is like a budget airline anyway.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Now sa pal they also have choices, expensive seats and least expensive seats just like the budget
      Airlines.

      Delete
  31. Hahahahaha...PAL wants to maximize profit seyempre.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hellloooo?! Napaka no-brainer na dapat nito. Hindi ba nagiisip si Gerard? Of course hindi pwede kasi hindi kasya. If allowed, sige nga san nya balak ilagay gitara nya? Hahawakan nya? Even the smallest of handbags nga airlines are strict about having them tucked under the seats in front of you, kasi po Gerard pwedeng lumipad yun at tumama sa kung kanino man lalo na kung may heavy turbulence etc. Ano ba. Mandadamay ka pa ng ibang pasahero

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Pag may matamaan ang musical instruments niya habang boarding kasi masikip di ba,
Sino ang irereklamo ng pasahero, syempre PAL.

      Delete
  34. Dont fly PAL anymore then. Worst airline.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Eh di ba bawal nga ang my matulis or something hard that can be used as a weapon? If its sumthing big and it has parts which are pointy, i babawal din nman yan s immigration.. so my tama nman ang PAL dto..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Allen Meek plays trombone. Walang matulis sa trombone teh. Its about the size of a trumpet. Not big. I can understand why he's mad because it could break easily if checked in and for that size, PAL could've accomodated him easily. Its ridiculous to pay extra seat for a mere trombone.

      Delete
  36. Napa-entitle nman nito.

  38. PAL broke my violin (a Stradivarius). They replied to me that it was my fault since it wasnt packed well. If you have high value objects, like your livelihood depends on it. Ask first before booking a flight. Better safe than sorry.

    1. Ganito kasi,if you are carrying oversized stuff, you need to declare it sa may desk pa lang so that they can accomodate your items, lets say stroller etc. In my case,we bring fisging rods etc when we fly.

  39. I have a friend who is violinist. And experienced din nya for checked-in yung violin niya. pero no matter what happens, need talaga i hand-carry yung violin niya dahil it cost more than a Million.

Customer service talaga. Dito mabibilang mo lang ang mabait.

  43. This is not an entitled post from him. The violin case is just as big as any other carry on, probably even smaller than most carry on wheelies. It's insensitive of PAL not to allow this knowing how fragile these instruments are.

    1. What he is saying is it clearly fits, what if ot fits the whole baggage compartment? What about the other passengers? Also if the container of his instrument is longer than the size specified by the airlines?

Some musical instruments can cost hundreds of thousands up to millions, and they are fragile enough na pwedeng masira sa check in, knowing kung gano kabargas ang karamihan sa mga cargo operators dito sa atin.

    1. You can pay for fragile items. They are marked and insured. But his post is mali talaga. It was explained na as per policy. He shouldve asked why right then and there demand explanation and information.

    6. Kung mayaman kayo, magbayad ng extra for the musical instrument.
