  1. Wait, what? Exempt naman talaga, di ba? Kailangan lang ifile ang tamang dokumento. Ganyan naman basta income earned by a resident citizen from another country.

    1. Yup. Hay** tlaga tong mga politiko pinaraphrase pa para magmukang may ginawa sila. Eh bawal na nman tlaga nila itax dhil may tax na.

    2. Not exempt dear. She still needs to file. Baklang CPA, magre-take ka!

    4. No. Still taxable because PIA is a resident-citizen. Taxable within and outside PH. The documents will be the basis for tax credits. Taxable - taxing it - and tax credits - reducing the liability - are two different things.

    5. Nope. Tama sila. Not exempted and then deducted lang if properly documented na bayad ng foreign tax.

I think what people gets confused about Manny and Pia is that though they give pride to our country via their wins, dahil they are trained and sponsored by private sector like Bob Arum and BB. Pilipimas charity, they are still taxable of course. If Manny Pacquiao though joined in a sports competition that's hosted/promoted/funded by the national government tapos ipapadala sa ibang bansa as official national representatives, then it would exempt. Like if gobyerno gumastos ng trainor, renta sa gym, uniform tapos, etc. tsaka nanalo eh di walang tax. Obvious ba? Siyempre negosyo pa rin ang labas in the form of BB. Pilipinas Charity and Top Rank.

    6. What baklang CPA is saying is kung hindi finayl ta-tax-an sya dito. Kung nagfile eh di bongga.

    7. Baklita, filipino citizen siya kaya kahit income earned outside philippines eh taxable. Ano bey madam. Kaya nagppush sila nyang exemption

  2. Dapat gawin nang for all Ms U, World, International, Earth (Big 4). Pero kahit anong amount man lang, they truly deserve it.

Tayo pinakamataas na vat in the region, but still third world country. Bakit? Kasi ang daming tax exemptions particularly in business affiliated in churches and foundations. Lagi tayong nananakawan ng mga corrupt pero every elections we still keep on voting the same names. Anyway, good for Queen Pia, non-taxable ang pera nya.

    2. I'm guessing it's because cash prize yung kay Pacquiao, whereas Pia's prizes are mostly in kind (e.g., crown, residence, wardrobe, beauty products). It's easier to deduct tax from cash prize kesa maglalabas ka pa ng pera pambayad sa prizes mo that are in kind. Oprah classified the cars as "prizes" instead of "gifts". So napilitan pa tuloy silang magbayad ng tax for the supposedly "free" cars. Napagastos pa sila nang di inaasahan.)

    3. One time lang ang Miss U. Si Manny, trabaho talaga niya yun, career kumbaga.

  6. Why didn't they do the same with Manny Pacquiao?

    2. Si Manny first and foremost lumalaban para sa money. Subukan mo wala yung $20mil niya kung mag pa bugbog yan. Secondary nalang sa kanya yung for Pride of the Country.

    3. Because Manny Pacquiao is Money Pacquiao. And Mommy D is Money D!

    4. 3:03 Lahat naman ng athletes secondary lang yung pride of the country. Haha! It's their training, and it's their hard work, therefore it's their achievement. It's not really for the country that they're representing. #realtalk

  10. To those asking about Manny: feeling ko lang (feeeeeeeling) si Manny has a lot of opportunities to make money. Si Pia, her reign is just for a year and she can only win a beauty pageant once. Kung makahakot siya ng project after her reign, pwede na siya i tax.

  11. Bakit kailangan i-exempt?

    1. Finally!! Someone has spoken the truth!! Tax system in our government is rotten as h*ll!!

    2. So true. And ikauunlad pa ng banyan. Hindi naman sa sourgraping, I am very very proud of Pia and appreciate her hardwork, but what about Aisa Mijeno who invented a lamp that can be ran by only salt and water? She was even invited in the APEC forum and had an opportunity to talk to President Obama? Where is her tax exemption? Her invention brought more pride to the country and was even acknowledged by Obama!

  15. Ano ba yan!!! Samantalang tayong pangkariniwang mangagawa anlaki ng tax!

    ReplyDelete
  16. i don't really get it kung bakit yung mga tao na nagbibigay ng karangalan sa bansa natin bakit kelangan may tax pa kung tutuusin dapat competition naman yan. i mean like sir manny pacquiao nakikipag suntukan, nakataya ang buhay niya sa ibabaw ng ring para lang mabigyan ng karangalan ang naghihikahos na bansa natin. bakit kelngan pa May i tax yung mga ganun. siguro kung sa mga business niya kelngan talaga yun. pero yung sa sariling laban sigiro dapat exempted.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Sa laki ng tax na babayaran or binayaran ni Pia dito sa US ano na lang matitira sa prize nia if magbayad pa siya tax diyan sa Pinas. Kaya buti naman if eexempt siya.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yung nagtatanong bakit si Manny di exempted, i guess it's because boxing is his profession, ito talaga isang occupation nya. unlike Pia, her reign as Miss Universe is only limited for 1 year. she will always be a beauty queen but it's not every year that she will compete and get a prize. Manny, however, trains for a fight at least 2x a year and either win or lose, he will always have a prize money with him.
ito ay opinion ko lang and this is just how i see things between the 2 of them.

    ReplyDelete
Di ikakahirap ni Pia yan at magiging role model pa siya if she declares her actual income and pays the correct taxes.

  22. They have done this to PIA kasi election. not to MANNY kasi tapos or hindi election?. Their cases are the same.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Manny's prizes are in cash. Pia's prizes are in kind.

Pero dahil non-monetary ang mga napanalunan niya, she shouldn't be paying for them.

    ReplyDelete
