Could This be His Talent?

Succeeding in showbiz requires a harmonious relationship between a competent manager and an obedient talent. For example, certain managers and their unhappy talents have had their rifts highly publicized. Most of these cases have resulted in a formal or a silent ban of talents among the stations. Consequently, some talents who have managed to cut cleanly from their managers still suffered the fate of a dwindling career. By contrast, some talents who, despite feuding with their managers, were able to salvage and be reinvented into topnotch stars. Hence, managers are essential if a talent wants to succeed in the business, and talents are expected to trust and to follow their managers. Managers are believed to know what is best for these actors.

Sometime ago, the talents of a network had a show out of town. The talents, their managers, and staff comprised the entourage for the show that had mixed reviews. Nonetheless, the fans were happy to see the talents sing and dance onstage and to travel that far to see them.

During the middle of the night, when everyone was catching up on sleep, someone (SO) had to go to the room of one of the managers (OM) to get something. OM is a low-key manager who handles the careers of several stars that have crossed networks or have remained loyal to one. OM, of course, has as many haters as admirers. The faint light in the room allowed SO to notice that OM suddenly pulled up the sheets and only had his face exposed.

As the room was cold, SO did not really make much of what OM did until SO realized that OM was not alone as there was some movement under the sheets. Upon realizing that SO might have disturbed an encounter between OM and another person, SO got what he needed and left.

After leaving the room, SO started to think who was with OM. Could it have been talent 1 (T1), who has long been rumored to be the favorite of OM? Could it be talent 2 (T2) who has yet to have any negative publicity connected to his name? While T1 could have been the usual suspect, SO realized it was T2 who was with OM that night, and giving his manager the pleasure of his life.

To succeed in business, to reach the top, an individual must know all it is possible to know about that business. - J. Paul Getty

The Groom Wept, the Bride was Radiant

It seemed more like a beauty pageant than a wedding, with statuesque women in designer gowns lining up. Only this time, the winner had been chosen even before the ceremony began.

The event was the wedding of beauty queen Shamcey Supsup, 27, and her boyfriend of more than two years, businessman Lloyd Lee, at the Church of the Risen Lord on the University of the Philippines Diliman campus in Quezon City Sunday afternoon. The Christian ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Noel Erese.

It was at the same university that Supsup earned her Architecture degree, magna cum laude. She later topped the licensure examination for architects.

Supsup, who placed fourth in the 2011 Miss Universe pageant, arrived in a white limousine. She looked radiant in her off-the-shoulder white lace serpentine wedding gown designed by Cherry Samuya Veric.

Her entourage included her best friend and 2011 Binibining Pilipinas second runnerup Mary Jean Lastimosa, and 2010 Mutya ng Pilipinas runnerup and Bb. Pilipinas batchmate Caroline Ty, both of whom donned eye-catching outfits created by celebrity designer Veejay Floresca.

Also among the towering well-wishers were Supsup’s predecessor, 2010 Miss Universe fourth runnerup Venus Raj, 2013 Miss Universe third runnerup Ariella Arida, 2012 Miss Supranational third runner up Elaine Kay Moll, 2011 Bb. Pilipinas semifinalist and radio anchor Tina Marasigan, 2012 Miss World semifinalist and Bb. Pilipinas batchmate Queneerich Rehman, 2008 Miss International semifinalist and TV host Patricia Fernandez, 2012 Miss World Philippines first runnerup Mary Ann Ross Misa, 2011 Miss World Philippines first runnerup and 2010 Bb. Pilipinas second runnerup Nicolette Henson, former Bb. Pilipinas-Universe titleholders Jennifer Barrientos and Bianca Manalo, and former Bb. Pilipinas contestant Selena Antonio.

Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. chair Stella Marquez-Araneta was a principal sponsor.

It was the groom who wept the most during the hourlong ceremony. As Shamcey began walking down the aisle with her parents, Timoteo and Marcelina Supsup, Lee was already wiping away tears, his nose running and he was flushed.

But when he received his bride at the altar, the tears turned into a big smile.

Lee, whose beige suit was created by couturier Francis Libiran, told in his vows of how he had hesitated to pursue the beauty queen. He said that the first time he beheld Shamcey, at her 25th birthday party, he saw in her the qualities of a pageant winner.

For her part, Supsup confessed it was “love at first sight” with Lee.

“He didn’t ask for my number, so I researched about him on Facebook. That’s how it started. Then he texted me, saying ‘Call me crazy, but I’m the one you have been wishing for.’ I thought he was really crazy, but so was I,” said Shamcey.

She confessed she didn’t believe in true love and noted how many romances ended in separation. “But everything changed when I met you. I already believe that there’s a love worth living for,” she said.

Lee said he saw how truly beautiful Shamcey was because of her “kindness and genuineness.”

“The first time we talked, we discussed how you commuted to the gym. On our dates, we’d go to UP and eat fishballs and take the ikot jeep,” Lee said.

“There are no dull moments with her. I also admire her values and principles and her strong faith in God. Every man would be lucky to have her for a wife,” Lee said.

Supsup responded: “I have found the perfect husband.”

The beauty queen revealed that Lee was her first and only boyfriend. “I believe God has a purpose why he did not let me have a relationship with other men before. He was preparing me for you, only you. He made our relationship perfect,” Supsup declared.

The nuptials were sealed with a five-second kiss, which received thunderous applause from the guests.

Stepping out of the church, the newlyweds and their friends released yellow balloons and a rain of confetti, which was again punctuated by a never-ending kiss.

Could this be Another Extraordinary Liking?

Call it evolution, but gone are the days when showbiz/fashion make-up artists aka MUA were cross-dressers dolling themselves up in full female regalia. Generally, today's MUA look like hot men with impeccable taste for everything nice and classy. They look like your boy-next-door celebrity, and yes, they are so "crushable" making girls, and even gays (especially closet gays) swoon, or at the very least, have a secret crush on them.

Popular Celebrity PC has a Favorite MUA FM in the person of a relatively good looking guy whose irresistible charm knows no gender. Apart from that, FM's skills and excellence in make-up have made him as one of best in the industry. As one belonging to the new breed of young competent MUA in the industry, FM's expertise is most-sought after in magazine cover shoots, television commercials, movies, television programs, among others.

For FM to become the favorite of PC is a no brainer. In the industry that thrives a lot on physical looks, PC's vanity goes overboard, sparing nothing, making no stones unturned just to look beautiful. Beauty is PC's passion, and she walks her talk. Which is why, FM is a constant presence in PC's shows, shoots and other events. Needless to say that the loveteam er..Other Half OH of PC also gets to see FM regularly.

FM's frequent presence in his and PC's activities has reportedly made OH take a "liking". It can be recalled that OH's preference has been quite questionable for the longest time, to which OH, as expected, reacts with utmost denial. But as they say, actions speak louder than words, don’t you think?

Allegedly, OH sent flowers to FM to thank him for always making PC pretty every time FM touched her face. Also written on the card accompanying the flowers were words - " take care you look good." At another time, OH reportedly invited FM to dinner at a popular restaurant with him on board FM's car. Hmmm. Do we hear another secret thing in the making?

Angel Locsin vs Maja Salvador in Primetime Drama 'Legal Wife'

Source: www.abs-cbnnews.com

Angel Locsin plays a scorned wife while Maja Salvador portrays a devoted mistress in a primetime series that promises passion, drama and twists when it premieres on ABS-CBN in January 2014.

Directed by Rory Quintos and Dado Lumibao, "The Legal Wife" also stars Jericho Rosales and JC de Vera, whose characters figure in a web of romance with the lead actresses' roles.

A televised teaser for the series, which was also posted on ABS-CBN's YouTube page Friday, shows Monica (Locsin) and Adrian (Rosales) getting engaged, before being driven apart by an affair. Adrian's relationship with Nicole (Salvador) sparks rage in Monica, whose speeding car nearly hits her husband and his mistress. The betrayed wife is then seen finding comfort in her friend, Max (de Vera).

In a highlight of the teaser, which will air in full on January 1 after ABS-CBN's "Honesto," a heated confrontation ends with Monica slapping Nicole. Another scene shows a hysterical Monica hitting her husband.

"Para sa akin kasi big step ito bilang artista," Salvador told ABS-CBN News, explaining why she is excited for the project. "Malaking step sa akin na gawin ang character na ito, dahil natsa-challenge po ako eh, dito sa role ko."

"Isang kwento ito ng pag-iibigan na hindi mo akalain na pwede pala. May mga bagay, mga sitwasyon na biglang nanggugulat sa'yo na hindi mo na mapipigilan na nandoon ka na sa loob ng sitwasyon na 'yon," she said.

Rosales, in a separate interview with ABS-CBN News, similarly referred to his role as something new. "It's something that I haven't done.

Tackling 'taboo'

Referring to "The Legal Wife" tackling infidelity, Locsin said the subject isn't to stir controversy when the series starts airing. She explained that the situation portrayed in the soap, and how the characters are affected by it, are not commonly discussed in the medium. Locsin pointed to this as one of the reasons why she agreed to do the project.

"Hindi naman kami gumawa ng serye para lang gumawa ng kontrobersiya, pero ako kasi, bilang artista, mas gusto ko 'yung mga character na hindi masyadong common at hindi masyadong napag-uusapan," she told ABS-CBN News.

"Siguro mas may challenge for me, at ang ABS-CBN naman kasi, always naman 'yan, naghahanap ng magandang kwento na hindi pa napapakita, o hindi pa masyado napag-uusapan pero alam nating nandiyan. 'Yung medyo taboo ba, kumbaga. Pero hindi ito for the sake na nagpapa-kontrobersyal.

"Ito'y para makapaghatid-inspirasyon sa mga taong may parehong pinagdaraanan, 'diba. Baka kahit paano, baka makatulong kami, maka-relate, makabawas sa problema," Locsin said.

The actress, whose last role in a drama series was "Imortal" in 2010, added that a factor in her decision to take up "The Legal Wife" as her comeback soap was Quintos. Locsin recalled being happy to learn that the director would lead the project, as they previously worked together in the 2009 film "Love Me Again" and the primetime series "Only You" aired in the same year.

Fresh team-up

Locsin's onscreen rivalry with Salvador, on the other hand, marks the first time they will be working together. Both actresses said they had been looking forward to the opportunity, with Locsin indentifying the younger Salvador as one of the Kapamilya stars she wanted to work with before she switched networks in 2007.

"Ako pag-transfer ko palang naman, isa na si Maja sa mga gusto kong makatrabaho," she said. "Ito, dalaga na si Maja, so nagkaroon kami ng chance. At ako, looking forward talaga."

Salvador said she particularly admires Locsin for the effort she puts into her work as an actress. "Nakaka-excite makatrabaho ang mga taong alam mo na importante rin sa kanila 'yung trabaho na 'to at 'yung project namin."

Aside from the lead actresses' first team-up, "The Legal Wife" also marks the first ABS-CBN series starred in by de Vera, who transferred to the network in early 2013.

While the series' title suggests it will focus on her role as the betrayed wife, Locsin said equal importance is given to the characters portrayed by her co-stars.

"Pwedeng tumayo 'yung mg characters na mag-isa. Buong-buo 'yung mga characters talaga... So ito, sobrang thankful ako, na nabigyan ako ng magandang project talaga. And this is it. Sobrang worth the wait talaga," she said.

Joining the four lead stars in the cast of "The Legal Wife" are Joem Bascon, Ahron Villena, Christopher de Leon, Rio Locsin, and Mark Gil.

The premiere date of the series and its timeslot have yet to be announced.

Cut Corners

Young as she was then, Pretty Star PS was rumored to be high on vices. She was allegedly a permanent fixture in bars located in which is now a high-end mall. There PS spent hours drinking with her friends lasting till the wee hours.

When she began having relationships, PS had no qualms about doing PDA (public display of affection) with her then boyfriend in the most unlikely places – at the parking lot of a large and prominent church in the city, where thousands of devotees flock regularly. The huge number of vendors outside the church also add to the big crowds in the area. This was the place where PS was often spotted.

All this while she did drama movies in sweet girl roles. For years, PS was a starlet hardly ever making an impact. Having been a breadwinner of a broken family, she felt her earnings were never enough to sustain and support herself and her family. Thus, she reportedly engaged in charging exorbitant fees to appear in functions of wealthy businessmen.

This profession reportedly continued for years until she made it big time via a hit movie. It was to be the start of PS' journey for bigger things to come.

Along with the dizzying fame are the many reported controversies and issues she got herself into – among them her diva attitude off-camera, a big contrast to what she constantly projects onscreen as someone very much grounded.

Don’t ever make the mistake of accidentally stepping on her foot while inside a restroom in a bar or you'll hear curse words from her even after you have apologized. Off-camera, PS is allegedly insensitive, not even granting requests from her fans who troop to the studio to see her. Her current boyfriend is supposedly equally arrogant, not an ounce of effort to smile at people who patronize him.

In a recent event of a company PS not only arrived extremely late as she also failed to do her part which was to get interviewed by the event host and answer audience question. Immediately after her performance, PS immediately rushed and headed to the exit with her waiting boyfriend in the car positioned right there at the main entrance. Events people were left scratching their heads, didn’t know what to do as the whole program was ruined and cut very short.
