I agree with Mo (though I don't like him) and other comments above. This is really "bad form" for Ariella...the interview and now her explanation. What she said in the interview is offensive even if she had no malice. All it shows is her poor communication skills further confirmed by this clumsy effort of an explanation/apology. Not fitting at all for an international representative.
E for Effort naman kay Ariella hahah. Effort din sya magka accent sa interview nya with Karen. It just didnt work for me. Sana may Ms. Nga Nga this year sa Ms. U
Jusme ANON 12:52, the expression is "A for effort", as in sa scoring method with A being the highest and F the lowest.
I don't agree that lack of fluency in English equates to lack of ability to represent our country internationally. Kaya nga may translators.
11:32 am...it's not Ariella's imperfect English that is being questioned but her singling out Latinas as a group and then generalizing. It is offensive and incorrect. There are many Latinas who are fluent in English and other languages. Even if she said what she said in fluent Tagalog, it would still be offensive. Anyway, my question now is where are her mentors/managers? Why does it seem she is being abandoned to handle this PR mess?
napakadaming nega dito. Nagapologize na, puro pa rin kayo lait, bad wishes, at kanegahan. Ano pa bang gusto nyong gawin nya, lumuhod on National TV? Nagapologize na, move on move din pag may time! Kalerqs!
To Ara naman, her comm skills really make me cringe. But I appreciate the fact that this girl is doing her best and giving her all to bring glory for all of us (yes, even for the negatrons). It just makes me feel sad for this girl na one slip up (with no malicious intent, mind you) lang, the mob's there na kulang na lang durugin ang pagtao nya.
If she ever reaches the finals, she should opt for a translator instead. Wala namang masama dun. She shouldn't force herself to speak English if she can't do so fluently.
If you read the Mo post featured here, a lot were objective and were just giving their opinions, not dinudurog si Ara! Ever heard of constructive criticisms? Hindi ba pwedeng we care enough to point out something is wrong so we could improve it also? Nkklk! Sinong umapi at dumurog kay Ara???
i agree with 12:29.. napilitan lang si Ara i-defend ang sarili nya dahil mismo sa pinoy (of all people!) bashers tapos ngayon siya pa rin ang mali.. that remark she made could have gone unnoticed kung hindi lang binuksan ni mo ang kanyang big mouth at nagsunuran ang kanyang mga alipores.. hays :(
That's the point - not everyone will understand what you were really trying to say. Be precise, concise, and tactful. Avoid the pitfalls of double entendre.
WRONG SPELLING AND GRAMMAR! It should have been: "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to offend anyone with my last interview. I hope you guys could understand what I was trying to say." Obviously, beauty lang pero kulang sa brains.
Grammar is correct. Maybe you mean composition based on the context that you know of the issue. But even so, your supposed correction is grammatically flawed.

Brains din naman sha. She is a BS chemistry graduate of uplb. and dugo ang iiiyak mo malusutan lang ang chemistry subjects dun.
Hope those candidates who didn't make it to the previous bb Plipinas competition pageant are drooling with laughter by now. Yes Ariela you may have won the crown.. But only to prove to us that you just have it by luck and you did not deserve it! With that kind of attitude? HOMAYGAD!
Eto nanaman tayo sa mashup ng expressions. When you say that someone is drooling, it pertains to ENVY.
Baka ROLLING from laughter kamo. HOMAYGAD HOMAYGAD ka pa dyan! Kaasar ha!

Basing from this tweet and her other interviews and publicity appearances, I'm hoping she gets an interpreter if ever masali siya sa Q&A portion.
What I'm tryn' to say? This tweet apology doesn't sound genuine, I have a feeling that she has no idea why and what she needs to be sorry about, if she knew why she just wouldn't say 'you know what I'm talking about'.
But I pity that she gets half the votes of Filipinos (since a lot seem to agree with Mo's strong point), she can probably use this as her motivation to win the crown.
Issue is not if she's good in english or not, its about being tactful. You're way of thinking, defensive siya masaydo na latina's cannot speak a sentence in straight english.
Wag kayo agad mapanghusga. Not all smart people are good in english. #fact. English is just a language whereas iyong tunay na intelligent nasusukat sa kanyang husay sa profession nya. Ok.
Well said 2:41 pero paki chane into INTELLIGENCE! Prove them wrong ariella.
PERO it doesn't mean inferior sila. Just take it as it is. They can't speak English. Period.
siguro we should all just stop now and lay off the bashing towards this girl. it's not helping her cause at all. yes, hindi siya proficient sa english, pero if we keep bringing it up and criticising her for it, she won't be able to concentrate on her preparations for the event which is happening is a few weeks time. she doesn't need this distraction right now. anyway, Ariella, best of luck to you. just do your best, regardless of the outcome, you're still a binibining pilipinas winner. and btw people, lest we forget that conversational english is a lot harder than written english for anybody who's not a native born speaker. spectator lang tayo, we're not the one doing the actual talking.
at least nag sorry. Gaganda nyo. Good vibes to Ms Arida! Break the necks! To Mo... sige hanap ka pa ng makakaaway moh since you are good at that... i tenkyo!
12:45 Ganun? Forestry?
-- Ugh, she's a BS Chemistry grad. It's one of the hardcore courses UP has to offer. And don't get even started with Forestry. You clearly don't know what they have in their program.
dapat kumuha na lang sya ng interpreter pro kahit tagalog eh na te-taken out of context parin sagot nya when in fact interview pa yun. how much more kung Q & A na. tssk. pro anyway, d pa naman sure kng ma ta-top 5 cya. haha.
Lost in translation tayong lahat! I know what she's trying to say, but she needs to improve on how she relate situations properly. People expect you to have beauty and brains and not just high IQ, but smart enough to consider the right etiquette specially when delivering a simple interview.
People are people, if you can't deal with the haters just shut your world on them and focus on your positive side.
I hope she improves, but yes Mo is right, what if a Latin network gets wind of this, you can't get on the bad side of Latinas!
Very well said. I think what we need to do is to at least apologize sincerely to the Latina community. Besides, Filipinos are known for their humility and sincerity :)
Still not a fan of her. Of the RST beauty queens, she ang pinaka least na na transform. Wag nya idahilan ang latina, latinas are very charming and performers talaga pag miss universe. Even if they can't speak english, adorable pakinggan at nadadala nila dahil baklang bakla sila. Ariella is a shy girl who is trying hard to be an extrovert. and it shows.
To Ms.AA, if you're going to 'apologize' please present it 'as if' you mean it because, clearly with "OM sorry..." you're not. what does "OM" stand for again? i am not too familiar with text/gay/pop culture/cool lingo. Please opt to do the translator for the love of all things holy. And next time, be sensitive and self-edit your thoughts before you let it roll out of your mouth!
OM was used to avoid OMG where the name of GOD is used in vain. She's INC so I guess it's on the top of her head. Regarding her command of language in her tweet, nothing was wrong with it. Though the use of "can" is not as strong/certain - it implies hoping the object (those offended) has the ability to understand. It is even more appropriate knowing she's not demanding those "negatrons" to accept the apology. Overall, stay away from mocking Ara and instead evaluate yourself - What have you done for the country so far?

Question: Anu ba mas mahalay, sweet dance sa private party or walking on the ramp wearing 2-pc broadcasted on national television? Pwede pakisagot po?
Reminder lang po: use 'can' or 'will' to express 'hope'. For example, "I hope it will rain"; 'I hope you can...', etc... So Ariella's sentence is correct.
Interpreter na kasi, megan young nga nag-tagalog after she won e. I don't see anything wrong if magtagalog xa, goes to show ndi xa trying hard, she knows herself very well, it also (for me) is confidence. Kasi accepted nya yung capabilities nya. Sabi nga db "understanding" sa ms. World. So sana ma-understand din naten xa pag nagcompete xa. (Just an opinion)
"OM" sorry talaga? Tweet na nga lang eh, mali pa. Gosh! Goodbye Ms.U crown!

ReplyDeleteWell said 2:41 pero paki chane into INTELLIGENCE! Prove them wrong ariella.
Deleteperhaps typo I O are next to each other. (QWERTY-UIOP)
ReplyDeleteI think she meant OM as Oh My! She omitted the G because she didnt want to invoke God's name. Let's always give other people the benefit of the doubt.
PERO it doesn't mean inferior sila. Just take it as it is. They can't speak English. Period.
ReplyDeleteikaw na nasa US
Deletesiguro we should all just stop now and lay off the bashing towards this girl. it's not helping her cause at all. yes, hindi siya proficient sa english, pero if we keep bringing it up and criticising her for it, she won't be able to concentrate on her preparations for the event which is happening is a few weeks time. she doesn't need this distraction right now.
ReplyDeleteanyway, Ariella, best of luck to you. just do your best, regardless of the outcome, you're still a binibining pilipinas winner.
and btw people, lest we forget that conversational english is a lot harder than written english for anybody who's not a native born speaker. spectator lang tayo, we're not the one doing the actual talking.
Goodluck!
ReplyDeleteSay Goodbye to your Miss U hopes darling.
ReplyDeleteat least nag sorry. Gaganda nyo. Good vibes to Ms Arida! Break the necks! To Mo... sige hanap ka pa ng makakaaway moh since you are good at that... i tenkyo!
Forestry?
ReplyDelete-- Ugh, she's a BS Chemistry grad. It's one of the hardcore courses UP has to offer. And don't get even started with Forestry. You clearly don't know what they have in their program.
ReplyDeletedapat kumuha na lang sya ng interpreter pro kahit tagalog eh na te-taken out of context parin sagot nya when in fact interview pa yun. how much more kung Q & A na. tssk. pro anyway, d pa naman sure kng ma ta-top 5 cya. haha.
ReplyDeleteSALAMAT SA NEGATIVE COMMENTS MGA PINOY HA.
Ara i support you all the way
ReplyDeleteLost in translation tayong lahat! I know what she's trying to say, but she needs to improve on how she relate situations properly. People expect you to have beauty and brains and not just high IQ, but smart enough to consider the right etiquette specially when delivering a simple interview.
ReplyDeletePeople are people, if you can't deal with the haters just shut your world on them and focus on your positive side.
I hope she improves, but yes Mo is right, what if a Latin network gets wind of this, you can't get on the bad side of Latinas!
Very well said. I think what we need to do is to at least apologize sincerely to the Latina community. Besides, Filipinos are known for their humility and sincerity :)
DeleteAnd I hope the judges will also understand what you will be trying to say come Q&A time. If you make it that far. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteI smell damage control.
ReplyDeleteokay ariella your forgiven, okay lang basta nanalo na ang phils ng miss world.
ReplyDeletePag nanalo si Ariela sabay sasabihin ng ibang critics....I'm proud to be a Filipino..she deserves it..
ReplyDeleteTRUE!
ReplyDeleteshe really looks like an airhead, her eyes look blank and not at all alert.
ReplyDeletemag Tagalog ka nalang Ariella, there's no shame it in. Miss Philippines ka nga , right?
Pati pag twet mo, nagkamali ka ba ng pag press, since O is beside I sa keyboard or you really think I"m is O'm? Paano nanalo itong si Ariella...
To Ms.AA, if you're going to 'apologize' please present it 'as if' you mean it because, clearly with "OM sorry..." you're not.
ReplyDeletewhat does "OM" stand for again? i am not too familiar with text/gay/pop culture/cool lingo.
DeleteI dont think she can self-edit. Yun na kasi talaga ang sasabihin nya, she doesnt know any better, methinks. Hay
Deleteang daming magagaling dito. crab mentality.

Question: Anu ba mas mahalay, sweet dance sa private party or walking on the ramp wearing 2-pc broadcasted on national television? Pwede pakisagot po?
DeleteReminder lang po: use 'can' or 'will' to express 'hope'. For example, "I hope it will rain"; 'I hope you can...', etc... So Ariella's sentence is correct.
DeleteShe's sorry because of the exchange of words from Ervic and Mo Twister on Instagram. Ervic is her boyfriend.
Kesehodang mali o tama si ateng...lets just support her bid for miss u. Laban nya laban natin. Go go go!
ReplyDeleteOM too!
ReplyDeleteInterpreter na kasi, megan young nga nag-tagalog after she won e.
ReplyDeleteMga pahiya kayo guys!? Congrats Arabels! :)
