Anne Hathaway's BAFTAs Acceptance Speech that Generated Negative Reactions from Netizens

She's so unlikeable now, not like when she was still a Disney princess.

    1. Hay naku... It's like a shooting for a movie. Obvious na umaacting sya while delivering her speech

    2. Agree with you Anon 12:10AM. Fame just got into her head that's why she could always get away with everything with that fake smirk and all the fakery in her speech. Just because she got a role from a musical does not give her a free pass to make herself too conceited.

    1. She was acting as if she didn't expect the award, and that her speech was spontaneous. And did she really have to thank Victor Hugo? OA.

    2. Tama po I didn't find kalurks..

    3. what's OA for thanking Victor Hugo? i don't see why people react negatively to her speech. there was nothing offensive about it. the people talking negatively about this are the ones who are overreacting. duh!

    4. After the end of the clip, I have to re-check if I played the correct video because there is nothing in what I saw that warrants a negative reaction...
It's the way people are trying to make something out of nothing that deserves a negative reaction if you ask me. Move on people...

    5. Duh malakas sagap
Nung microphone niya at dinig hinga niya kaya lalo magmukang oa for netizens ang speech. Pero I dont think its oa in any way! Moment niya yun. GO.

  4. OA hanggang speech..

  5. ok naman yung speech niya and sobrang kaba siya nung tinawag siya, and her jokes are ok sa mga bitoy(british) they are open minded

  6. What exactly was I supposed to be offended by/at? I got through the entire clip and never came across anything off-putting naman.

    2. I ran the clip 2x trying to find something off about her speech. Pero, parang normal acceptance speech lang naman. For someone who doesn't know her personally, wala akong nakitang nega. Funny pa nga yung self- deprecating spiel nya na "what was I thinking, walking past George Clooney without hugging him, that's just...stupid." Baka yung mga nag- react eh #maypinaghuhugutan. He he.

    3. I feel the same way. I didn't find anything wrong with her speech. Ano daw ang off dun?

  7. Anong negative dun?

  10. Fake daw ang humility and that lumalaki ang ego with each award.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Where's the negative in her speech? Even if she expected to win, she still must have felt surreal. I mean, all the cast and crew worked hard in making the movie. Imagine the time and effort involved sa lahat ng ginawa nila.

At least, mas may K na lang si Anne mag-inarte unlike local celebs na wala naman talent or discipline man lang compared to foreign celebs.

    Talent. Work ethics. Respect.

    2. May pa-humble yung tono ng boses niya.

Pero, true: breathless siya (sign of nervousness yon).

Deserving naman, agree ako sa iyo. Oo din na you can't compare her to many local "artistas" who pretend to be acting. There's just no way. Sorry, but the truth hurts.

  13. Sablay kasi humirit.

Duh! Parang dumb blonde. Sino ba siya, si Marilyn?

    1. Si Eddie na tinutukoy ni Anne, I think, is Eddie Redmayne, who played Marius in the film.

    4. Obviously anon 1:37 has yet to watch Les Miserables.

  14. I didnt see anything wrong with her speech at all! I guess yung mga nakapansin lng ng panget about her eh super inggit sa knya!

  15. This is just pointless. Yes, she blabbed a few jokes that not everyone found amusing. But she eventually got the response she wanted. Some online blogs are making a big deal about thanking Victor Hugo, and a lot assumed she was referring to the author too when she said "honey". First, it is just right to thank the author of the book, from which the story was adapted. Second, she was looking towards her husband when she mentioned "honey". Let's just be happy for her, because she really did an amazing job as Fantine.

    ReplyDelete
  16. let's just be happy with her speech. if you watched les mis and the other movies with the other nominees, she deserves the award. besides, bafta yan, mga british, so anything can happen.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think LS is also behind this.

    ReplyDelete
  22. O nga. Anong mali? Nitpicky mga netizens ha. Sa ibang comments na tingin nila expected na nya un award, i dont think so. She seems surprised pa din naman. Take note na magagaling din naman mga kalaban nya for sure.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I didn't see anything wrong with her speech.Sorry pero baka yung nag-isip ng negative is yung mga sanay lang sa Very giddy humor.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Sorry. For a filmbuff like myself who actually knows everything she was referring to, nothing was offensive. You need to know the inside jokes that perhaps only people who follow films and anything Hollywood can understand.

Gosh. Yes, Annie is being ridiculed for playing it fakely for the longest time (i.e. not expecting to win Golden Globe, BFCA, SAG) but she gives better speeches the more awards she wins.

Maybe she just comes across annoying even though sincere talaga siya sa mga sinabi nya. And lastly, the last thing people want to hear when you accept an award is a boring speech. Look up in YT Meryl Streep's speeches and see for yourselves what I'm talking about.

    1. It wasn't offensive as much as it makes you want to roll your eyes. Gaya nga ng sinabi mo, she comes off as annoying, not to mention fake, which doesn't necessarily mean she is. I used to like her, but for some reason she's starting to rub people the wrong way. She probably just needs a little PR work.

    2. True. These people should watch more foreign award shows.

  26. its british humour and its understandable to an individual to said things unscipted, unexpected speeches...this is just those great moment and words you said just come out spontenously...she still looked stunning and witty able to hold back her nerves...nothing wrong with the speech though...unless, your are ricky lo.

  27. I listened to the clip - aka was surfing while the clip played in the background - and there was nothing offensive about it. She didn't sound overly enthusiastic either. Tama lang. Found the bit about passing George Clooney without hugging him stupid funny. Anne Hathaway still comes off 500% more sincere than Gwyneth Paltrow ever did for Shakespeare in Love. Di pa makaget over sa palpak na interview nung aging reporter who asked Anne to invite her fans to watch her movie? Eh sa que horror naman talaga. Besides Anne is not some patweetums darling ng isang network. She'll never get the acting awards she's getting right now if pasweet ng pasweet sya. Not to mention she'll be miserable for the rest of her life and one day snap at a social networking site like a certain actress who was pasweet all her life until a recent public meltdown via a social networking site. Move on people. Iba ang peg ng A-listers sa Hollywood over your local network darlings.

People, please grow up, move on and enjoy life. Tama na ang bitterness sa life.

    ReplyDelete
Move on na.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think people are biased against her already because of the speeches she gave in two(2) other awards show. This speech is still OA and and still doesn't come across as sincere, but her previous speeches are much worse.

    ReplyDelete
  31. there's nithing offensive in her speech...medyo fake lang ang dating or may pagka-annoying na siya actually.but still, she deserves the award.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hay naku, tama na kayong mga nega. There's nothing wrong in her speech. She's a good actress. Love her in The Devil Wears Prada. Like her in Les Mis. She deserved the award. Please stop this nonsense of continuously finding fault in her. It's getting pathetic. Just leave her alone. She doesn't give a f**k what you think anyway. Just sayin'.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  36. Napaka oa naman ng mga negatizens...wla namang offensov din s speech nya..even if it may seem that she wasnt expcting d award,d point is, she was gvrn that trophy..she has evry ryt to giv her speech d way she wants to delivr it..as an audience we may hav diffrnt opinions and my point of view is that super oa ng mga reaction ng mga pipol..if u watch d clip her live audience laughed with her jokes...gets nila yung speech nya..so mga bitter jan watch nyo uli and listen carefully s speech nya.pg d kau natawa d nyo tlaga yuj na gets..

  37. If people found Anne Hathaway's speech OA, what would they say about Halle Berry's speech when she won for Monster's Ball??

    ReplyDelete
Move on na guys!

    ReplyDelete
  39. What's wrong? Is it "fakery" to say that you did not expect to win the award even if you know that you're the front-runner? At least, Anne has both feet on the ground. Naalala ko tuloy nuong 1978 Metro Manila Fim Festival, Ate Vi was predicted to win best actress for Rubia Servios over Ate Guy for Atsay. The jurors spoiled it by declaring Ate Guy Best Performer, although Ate Vi deserved to win. With Anne ayaw lang niya siguro ma-disappoint if she doesn't win.

    ReplyDelete
  40. i didnt see anything negative about her speech. no matter what they say, she deserved the award.

nominees were judged based on how they acted in the movie and not how they answered press questions or whatsoever outside the movie.

    hay naku.

    ReplyDelete
  41. i didn't find anything wrong with her speech. haay naku, she can't please everybody and won't please anybody.

    ReplyDelete
  42. What's wrong with her speech? It sounded okay. Witty even.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Their sense of humor is just different.

    ReplyDelete
  44. A word or two, Anne Hathaway is acting too hard. You may insist that there's NOTHING really offensive at her speech... but can't you see how air-headed this gal is? She's not being herself anymore.
