The Tale of the Fake Hermes Bag

Once upon a time, a buyer bought this Hermes Birkin from a trusted store that sells second hand bags.  After  using the bag for quite some time, she wanted to send the bag to Hermes Paris for maintenance.  So, she brought the bag to Hermes Greenbelt which accepted it. As a local franchisee, Hermes Greenbelt was in charged of forwarding it to Hermes Paris.

After a few months, this shocking letter came with the bag:

The bag is a counterfeit and it escaped the eyes of the people in Hermes Greenbelt.  I spoke to Dennis Robles, who is a trusted Hermes reseller about this and according to him, he knew immediately that it was a fake when he inspected the bag because of the stitching.

May this be a big reminder to would-be buyers to be more vigilant in their purchases of pricey branded items. Always trust your intuition. When in doubt, it will not hurt to ask opinions from not just one, but at least two experts.

    1. Its so hard to buy second hand bags especially if u are not so familiar with the details..

The store should have trained their staff well. In the first place they should know already na its fake.

Enjoy the rest of the day, folks!

    1. I agree with you...mahirap tlga pag sa reseller bumili. Kasi bka sila mismo, ( sa galing ng counterfeiters ngayon) nakalusot sa authentication nila. Kaya buy nalang sa mismong shop. But we also have to be wary kasi a few years back meron ako narinig na bumiyahe abroad, gamit yun (v)acation (L)eave bag nya, naharang siya sa aborad, and she found out fake pala si bag nya! The catch was she bought it sa GB boutique ng vacation leave! This was told to me first hand by an eyewitness...ksma nya sa delegation yun naharang.

yes nasagap ko din yan. mas masakit yun kasi u bought it at the store pero i think if u still have the receipt kahit papano baka pwede mo sila habulin for that error.

for bag lovers who really want quality bags and hindi yung image that comes with it, marami pa naman ibang brands jan. Admittedly best of the best ang Hermes pero may stigma narin kasi..like if u carry one, alam na ng buong Pilipinas kung ano yun and how much courtesy of JP and kung totoo ba yung hawak mo..pagdudahan pa pagkatao mo.

Give them a style or you can have them design one for you. For a few thousand peos, great quality and craftsmanship pa. I asked them to make two bags for me and im very happy with my bags, they also sell crocodile leather...pati lining ng bags na pinagawa ko, suede. 21. I dont think this was hermes greenbelt's fault kc if d customer was really insisting, the staff would accept it. Even though they have already checked it was not authentic, the staff cant say it in front of the customer's face. The customer were charged for sending items abroad for repair. Since it was the customer's request even though the staff already knew that it was fake, they have no choice but to give in to the customer's demand. Un nga lan she had to know the real truth from the hermes suppliers which was very embarrasing kc the customer thought that she bought a real one. The lesson here is buy branded items on authorized dealers or stores pra d maloko.

  32. Hindi nag-match yung narrative ng story with how Hermes International wrote its reply. Why did i say so?

    FP Story:

    1) Someone bought a 2nd hand bag she thought was original.
    2) She sent it to Hermes Greenbelt who in turn would send it to
    Hermes Paris for maintenance.
    3) Hermes Philippines aApparently did not notice the bag was fake
and later found out when Hermes Int replied.

    Content of Letter:

    1) Read carefully. The letter is a RESPONSE LETTER to an inquiry on the authenticity of the bag. In other words, ipinadala yung bag hindi for maintenance kung hindi to verify its authenticity, kung totoo ba o fake. So may hinala na yung Hermes Philippines from the start sa authenticity ng bag, kaya nga sa last part noon response letter ng Hermes Int may nakasulat na, "I hereby confirm...", meaning may nagtanong o nag raise na ng doubt previously.
