Enjoining Everyone for Prayers For DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo and Company

Let us all pray for the safe recovery of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo and his companions, including the two pilots of the small aircraft that carried him from Cebu on the way home to Naga. It crashed in the sea of Masbate province afternoon of Saturday. Earlier it was reported that the plane was having some engine problems, but Sec. Robredo and his team proceeded just the same for a meeting in Cebu.

His aide Don Abrasado survived. But Robredo is still nowhere to be found along with the two pilots of the four-seater plane.

Professional divers are doing the rescue, but are being hampered as darkness set in.

Before 8pm, talks circulated that Robredo was rescued by a fisherman, such that family and friends were in jubilation, only to be doused soon after when it was confirmed that it was just a rumor.

Prayer vigils are now being held in La Salle, Greenhills and at the residence of Sec. Robredo in Naga City.

President Benigno Aquino enjoins everyone to offer prayers for the missing Secretary and his companions, including prayers for their respective families for this extremely sad and unfortunate circumstance.

  4. Said a short prayer for his and his companions' safety.

Bihira na ang katulad nya sa gobyerno ngayon. Marami pa syang magagawa kaya sana matagpuan na syang buhay at nasa mabuting kalagayan.

The country needs more upright persons in authority like Sec Robredo. He is indeed a good man.

May God continue to protect and bless them wherever they are, and that the rescue teams will soon find them.

    1. Let us be sensitive about this. He may be a government official but he is also a father, a husband and a friend.

PS: He's the father of my friend so please be sensitive about it.

    3. well, there is truth to the comment above, pag poor
ang nabagsakan ng landslide, nalubog sa barko, sa baha, government do only so much, well, i dont think the comment above is focusing on robredo, he is stating his opinion as to double standards ( ie rescue efforts )that is very prevalent sa pinas

    4. Omg! Nakakakilabot kayo. Be sensitive naman mahirap ba unawain yun. That opinion is very inappropriate borderline evil.

    5. to anon 11:55...Ask yourself, have you ever done anything for your country or at the very least your community to deserve such kind of rescue efforts? Sec Jesse has done so much public service for more than 20 years with an untainted reputation...it is no wonder that people are volunteering to rescue him and the government is also doing its best...it is perhaps a case of good karma on his part that all these efforts are accorded to him...tinutumbasan lamang siguro ang lahat ng kabutihan at serbisyong ginawa nya para sa bayan...i am lucky enough to have witnessed his brand of governance; participatory leadership, people empowerment, transparency are just some of his trademark qualities - the kind of which is seriously lacking in most government officials...

ikaw, may nagawa ka na ba para sa bayan para sabihin ng tao na you deserve to be rescued and not to be drowned...the least you could do is to be sensitive...

I hope he is just in an island somewhere, weak, walang signal kaya hindi maka communicate with others. Wild, pero possible. I pray to God that he is alive. Marami pa siyang gagawing magagandang projects daw para sa bansa. Like that major flood-control project for Metro Manila. Lahat ng santo, kung pwede lang, dasalan na natin.
