  4. honestly, i think this scene needs tighter editing. it's not very thrilling. then again, it's just a short sequence and seeing it with the rest of the movie might change my mind.

  10. this clip reinforced that police squads of 3rd world countries are HELPLESS. Police officers of US or UK, WILL NEVER be allowed to be depicted as loser. They are always RESPECTED in all american movies. Officers are NEVER shown being slapped/ cursed/ nor shown to be late or helpless to CRIMINALS. Yes, this is a movie / fiction , but these are one of teh resons why criminals in pinas are smarter than the police, why crimes/ kidnappings are never down, coz people dont respect the authorities

    1. Have you ever watched Reno 911? Even Naked Gun and Beverly Hills Cop I don't think they are good films but they do depict incompetent cops. Pardon me, but there are a lot of movies that showed cops being slapped, cursed and displayed stupidity. Wag ka ngang etchosera.

Sabagay, by the way you write things, given the option of choosing your skin color & nationality, for sure ayaw mong maging Filipino. Too. Bad. You. Are. A. Filipino. People like you pulls down the country's image further down the brink. Pwes, don't watch the film!

    4. i am not pulling the image down, pls, bilangin nyo ang deaths coz of car accidents/ snatcher/ patayan sa ISANG episode ng TV patrol, the number of victims in ONE WEEK, now sa colorado , wala pang 15 ang namatay pero BIG deal yan, pero sa pinas, parang wala lang, ordinaryo na ang mabangga at mapatay ng bus, yung victim pa ang nakikiusap na tulungan sila, that , anonymous, is the result of being expose to lawlessness, when killing and death makes one numb and just an ordinary event

    7. Oh please.

      Delete
    8. Kung maka- third world ka naman oo. Eh kung ang pinakita naman sa pelikula eh efficient and magaling na pulis, for sure naman ang comment mo ganito: ang layo sa reality ng actual police world situation ng isang third world country!

Hay naku... Ikaw na. Nothing will please you.

    9. Go to NYC, crime rates are the same as the Philippines. Go to other states, you get the same story. What you know is only what you see on TV. Not everything is aired. I once stayed at a university where the crime rates would rival that of UPLB's. The seemingly serene surroundings often bear witness to violent crimes. Get your facts straight.

      Delete
    10. Parang puro local films lang alam mo. Try watching foreign films to get your facts straight. Crab mentality nga naman! Tsk tsk...

    12. Ikaw, have you been to UK? Madaming krimem ang hindi na ilalathala, I know cause I stayed there for more than a year. Walang kwenta ka pulisan dun. Nanakawan nga aq ng bike wala lang sa kanila binigyan lang ako ng report para daw sa insurance they didnt even bother to investigate yung carer na suspect ko na nagnakaw since he was the only person left when I went back to my room. Research first before you claim something.

      Delete
    13. Ay parang t-ng- lang! Napanood mo ba lahat? I've seen a lot of foreign movies since 80's and what you are claiming is false. Wag ka mag magaling ha!

Gets? So sana, wag mo naman masyado i-down ang Pilipinas.

    9. @Anon 2:24 am: Apparently, the word 'context' is totally unfamiliar to you. If you had read the novel this movie was based on, then you would have realized that the setting is what the plot called for. So hindi kailangan ng hinahanap mong maganda o malinis o maluwag; otherwise, it would have gone against the story.

Why do you have to publish the comments of people who obviously have delusions of grandeur like the one who believes to be working for the UN?

You started lambasting my comment left and right

You guys are getting personal. I just answered you all back..

My colleagues from other 3rd world countries doesnt react that way whenever we talk about the problems facing our "own countries"..

We tried to be objective and not defensive...

Again, i am still waiting for the IT guy to post my geo location so everybody will know whos not telling the truth. Tsk tsk tsk people!

    24. You guys started this. It was a simple opinion that turned into a dirty mess. You started to question my credibility which i just answered back. I did not parade my class so to speak here...

Thats where the problem lies. People likes to sarcastically and when you start to answer them back, they will tell u that u are delusional and a poser....

Again for the record, please telll me my geo location so everybody will know who is telling the truth...

    28. Yes it's true, the streets are very dirty and corruption is everywhere. people are poor and not very healthy. education is bad too. but then, when in the philippines, one's perspective changes. these negative attributes become reminders of how much we should cherish life. how we should make every minute fun while we're at it.

      I bow Thank You! ':)

    30. Know what? When I read the original poster's comments, nainis din ako. But then, reading through the responses, he/she is right in saying that your reactions are very telling of what is wrong with our country. Don't get me wrong, I love the Philippines and have never even given a thought to leaving even if I had the means. He/she is right that Manila IS ugly in some parts... physically. What makes our country beautiful is the people in it, us Filipinos and how warm and just generally nice we are compared to other cultures. Also, that's just Manila, and just parts of it at that. Forget the person who said it, focus on the message and learn from it -- that Manila needs a lot of work. If we deny that there are some ugly aspects to it, then who will act to improve it? The Philippines is so naturally beautiful, it's man who's made it ugly and so man who should work to bring back its glory.

      Delete
    31. Sweetie, if you really work for the UN, you would know that "third world" isn't used anymore. The term is now "developing."

I'm not 7:28, but please note that you have a problem with subject-verb agreement, run-on sentences, punctuation and consistency of tenses. I would "correct you verbatim" (this phrase is all sorts of wrong so please refrain from saying/writing it again) but I got halfway through the corrections before I developed a headache. Sige na, ikaw na ang magaling mag-English.

Yes, Manila looks ugly in the movie because that was what the plot called for --the ugly parts of Manila, to conform to the CONTEXT of the film, like what someone pointed out. If you qualified your comment, then maybe people wouldn't be so quick to criticize you. I just wish that even while you and other Pinoys based abroad criticize our country, you do it constructively kasi just bashing arbitrarily makes you sound like an arrogant prick. And if you can dish it out, be prepared to take it as well.

Sya, kainin mo na yang dollars mo, Mr./Ms. NYC, baka sakaling umayos pa ang grammar mo.

And you are asking someone to do the dirty job for you? Please. Mataas ang standards ng UN. The agency won't hire someone who speaks English poorly and types on the computer that way.

I ved been to 100 countries and currently lives in New York - WRONG!

I live and works for UN New York - WRONG!!

i am dying to know wheres my geo location is - WRONG!!!

Eh yung Manila ano bang center yan? Center of Poverty.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. True. Manila used to be the seat of government in its glory days. But then it might be time for a change, since the economic power now resides in Makati. If the country isn't amenable to that kind of change, then restore Manila to its former beauty. An old city does not mean it has to look its age. She now looks like an old lady left alone and uncared for, and that is a painful reality.
