Warning to All Tourists Travelling with Kids

FP was sent a story of how a mother lost her two kids while in an amusement park in Hong Kong recently.

“The mother left her two kids to go to the washroom alone while she waited for them outside. When she realized that the kids seemed to be taking a long time, she went inside to look for them but the kids were not in the washroom anymore. The parents went to the police afterwards and the police told them that it is highly likely that they will never see their kids again.

There is a syndicate in HK abducting kids in the washroom. They would let the kids smell something that would make them unconscious. Then they will shave their heads, put a cap on them, and change their clothes. When, the kids are brought out of the washroom, the parents would not notice them."

This story is not uncommon in the place as documented in some sites. Some kids are kidnapped and sold, while others are made into beggars. The syndicate does not discriminate; hence tourists with kids are also at risk. The lesson here is that parents or guardians should never leave their kids alone even for a second in any place on the island.

Here is a link that documents some of these incidents:

Do you know of any similar incident? Readers should be made aware that such incidents can happen anywhere and to anyone.

  5. i get turned off by parents just letting their kids go to the washroom alone. Imagine they will allow their kids to sit on the dirty toilet bowls pa!
My daughters are 18 and 15 yet i always accompany them especially in High Street where CR location is too dark.

What if madulas or maglaro ng tubig...

    8. I agree! NEVER let your kids out of your site. With the world we live in now, evil lurks around everywhere. It's just too hard to trust anyone. I have a son and whenever we're out without his Dad, I would bring him with me to the ladies room. He covers his face but what's a little sacrifice to make sure that he's always safe. I've heard of a kid who was robbed inside a CR in a big mall in QC. For me, it doesn't hurt to be paranoid at times. Better that than risk your child's safety.

    2. Saludo ako sayo dear! As a mom, we can't afford to lose our child/children. Ikamamatay ko kung sa akin mangyari yun!

To all parents out there, please take care of your kids and always keep an eye on them esp. if you are in a foreign country. I've heard a similar story before and it's seriously devastating. :(

  27. This is true. I just came back from HK recently and it's all over the news warning parents to take care of their kids. They're being brought to Shenzhen and then they will be amputated so that they'll become pitiful beggars.

  28. How did the mother not notice the kidnapper going out to the washroom together with her kid in the first place?..Surely she will able to notice it since she is just waiting outside the washroom...

  30. would like to share this story, hindi kidnap, pero CR related that happened here in the Phil. medyo malayo na ang source, kakilala ng kakilala, pero ingat na lang din. Ingat in letting your kids go alone sa CR. Young boy was allowed to go to CR alone, nag antay na lang kasama sa labas. Not sure how long the boy stayed in the CR,but sa kuwento, when he came out, tulala na. turned out the poor boy was violated. sorry, i know this is sick. pls be careful and vigilant everyone. Pray.

    3. @Anonymous 09:38 AM so ano ngayon kung kakilala ng kakilala? pwede naman mangyari yun in real life...

    4. 7? Seven is still very young. I know a teenager, pamangkin ng best friend ko, 14 year old boy, robbed inside the CR.

  34. Thanks for posting this. I appreciate this warning especially since we often travel with my two young daughters. Incidentally, we just came home from HK yesterday. I guess it really pays to be praning. You really have to have your eye on them and hold their hands at ALL times, even while shopping, or just walking in the mall. And of course, when going to the CR. In fairness, the Hongkongers were all friendly and polite (as compared to years before when medyo masungit pa sila). But one observation I made was that Hongkong is now PACKED with people from the Mainland. They're all over the place. In Disneyland alone, 99% of the people seem to be from China. My mom told me to let my kids bring identification cards with them indicating their names and the hotel we are staying in, just in case they get lost. But with this kind of operation syndicate, I guess not even the ID card will be enough. Ok na maging praning, hold onto your kids wherever they go, even bring a leash or whistle or whatever, basta wag silang mawala. And always pray to God to watch over your kids and protect them.

  37. kahit saan nangyayari ito, sa manila, singapore, HK, etc... kaya mga magulang maging extra vigilant pag nasa labas kasama ang mga bata. matinik ang mga sindikato na yan, always on the lookout sa mga batang pakalat kalat lang kasi ang parents busy mamili or magsukat.

  39. A similar thing happened 20 years ago. A Filipino kid was kidnapped in Ocean Park and was seen in Mainland begging with his legs amputated. My parents were so praning I was always being watched by either of them when traveling. Nakakatakot!

  40. There was this case in the UK before, the kid's name was James Bulger. He was kidnapped by two 12-year-old boys while he was in the mall with his Mom. James Bulger was tortured, they even cut his fingers then they left him tied on the train tracks. Malaking issue yun coz those murderers are now of legal age and nakalabas na sa juvenile prison. People now want to know their names kasi for protection na rin kung nagawa nila yun nung bata pa sila, what more now na adults na sila but sadly since the law protects everyone ayaw i-disclose ng government yung names nila now to give them a chance daw na magbagong-buhay. =(

  42. I read a reply somewhere in facebook stating that a similar incident happened here in the Philippines, Rockwell to be exact...good thing nahuli naman daw ng security ang kumuha. I don't know if its true. Pero better be cautious na rin. Kase truth is it can happen anywhere!
