Letter From a Reader: Unpaid Plane Tickets

Dear Fashion PULIS,

Last June 2011, this singer, her mom and manager flew to the United Stated for a series of concerts. Most of our clients pay for their plane tickets first prior to their departure date. However, in this case, the manager informed us that she will just settle the bill when they get back because she ran out of checks. Since she was referred to us by a close friend (former actor who is now based in Hong Kong), we trusted her and allowed them to board the plane without a doubt that she will pay us when they get back. In total, she got three Manila-Los Angeles-Manila business class tickets amounting to 440,000.00 PhP (four hundred forty thousand pesos).

A month later, the singer and her manager returned from the US. Her mother, on the other hand, decided to stay there for a little longer. When we sent the billing statement to the manger, she told us that she does not have money because the producer in the US failed to pay the professional fees. She started ignoring our emails, text messages and phone calls since then. I even requested our lawyer to send her a demand letter but she simply ignored it.

Our friend, who referred her to us, tried to get in touch with her but he could not reach her. Since we have not been paid, we decided to cancel the Los Angeles-Manila ticket of the singer's mother so she is still stuck in the US until now.

Thank you very much Fashion PULIS for posting this letter. I hope this story serves as a lesson to all your readers. More power to you!

Sincerely,
Michelle

  13. OMG, kapal ng face. di ko "Kinaya"

    ReplyDelete
  14. Business class pero wa naman datung

    ReplyDelete
  15. Some people tend to give celebs special treatment. Lesson learned. This is what happens when you treat them with special treatment. Treat people equally!

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  17. baka c J of Ka HEarT Hu needs GlutA??

    ReplyDelete
  18. Naku wala na bang pag-ibig? Lol!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hindi siguro sikat ito. Pero I heard from a friend that a certain singer went to the us J nga ang starting letter nito. At Kapuso, mom nya si E singer dati. Nacancel daw yung two shows tama ba?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Grabe naman settle your bill naman whoever you are baka lalo kayo umitim nyan.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Ano ba wag mang-gaya kasi ang nanay nya hindi related sa husband ni no other woman

    ReplyDelete
  22. teka so kaheart? wala na bang pagibig singer? hmmmmm.

tsk nka business class pa ahay. mahirap ng habulin ung bayad niyan

    ReplyDelete
  23. kirAra lang ang DraMa?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Oo naman di related si hubby ni no other woman kay mother na di makabayad ng utang. Eh maraming pera si hubby ni no other woman Kayang kaya nya bayaran yan kung sakali. Pero teka di ba may bagong show Itong Si J na magtuturo sya sa mga aspiring singer then they will compete. Sa Kapuso. Yun na!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I know this... agre-- need nila mag-Glutha. not related kay D ng No other Woman... ay! ayaw ko maging ganyan ka kulot.

    ReplyDelete

Harharhar.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Hindi na siguro magbabayad yun eh mukang aside from maitim makapal pa

    ReplyDelete
  29. Bakit ayaw magbayad kung si j ito? May shows naman sya ah.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Tama ba itong mga clues fp? Baka naman hindi.

    ReplyDelete
  31. FP, kung di man sila binayaran dun sa concert eh di mag sabi sana that they'll pay in installment na lang kasi nga di sila nabayaran diba. why deadma? or turn your back from your unpaid plane tickets?

    ReplyDelete
Confused lang ako kasi bakit parang pinoprotektahan pa ang mga may sala by not naming them? Just wondering...

Kung Sa tate nangyari toh bka pwede pa magdemandahan pero asa pinas tayo so i guess areglo mangyayari dito. Alam nman ng marami how justice works in the phils. Pera pera lang yan. And its gonna take awhile till matapos yung kaso.

    ReplyDelete
  38. How can this serve as a lesson to all? The letter writer obviously wants to embarrass the singer so that the latter would pay for the plane tickets.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with October 7, 2011 12:57am. That's a lesson for them to learn. The hardway lang nga.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Sa 'sanglibo mong halik ako ay puputi! :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. Medyo tanders na ba tong mag-ina? Business class pa talaga! For cancelled shows di ba guaranteed ni producer at least ang transportation dapat and may bayad pa din because nagpunta ang artist dun - usually that's stipulated in the contract so impossible that the singer got nada from the cancelled shows.

Give the singer the benefit of the doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  43. i gues kung si sunshine eto, siguro naman may pmbayad naman to... eh kase naman bakit need ang pa business class pa?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Wait lang bkit si singer and her mon ang na cocondem dito?eh sbe sa BI si manager ang naubusan ng cheque kaya pagbalik na lang nya babayaran,so dapat si manager ang habulin not the singer and the mom!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Alam mo kasi naman ang mga pinoy pag celebrities ang sini serve nila agad special treatment ang binibigay kaya lalong lumalaki ang ulo. treat them as ordinary people anyway pare pareho lang naman ang bayad natin ah. Baka sakali magbago ang mga ugali nila. Let this be a lesson to all in the business of ticketing, catering, or any other line of businesses that to treat everybody equal a few exceptions for valued clients siyempre.

    Good Morning... :)

  47. Anon October 7, 2011 1:42 AM, re: "Confused lang ako kasi bakit parang pinoprotektahan pa ang mga may sala by not naming them? Just wondering..." ---- There's such a thing as libel. and i agree with you when you said to file a case against the mgr rather than this BI.

    AnonOctober 7, 2011 7:54 AM, i completely agree..

And i think, the reason why the travel co trusted them was becoz someone close to the airline vouched for the manager..

    ReplyDelete
  48. This is lessob learned for the travel company, kung old clients who are known to pay okay lang.

Let's not condemn the singer and mom, for all we know, no idea sila sa utang. Or baka binigay nila pambayad kay manager tpos di nagbayad.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hahaha! Wow i never knew this could happen! Major embarrassment! I wonder who this artist is.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I know managers act in behalf of celebrities impossible hindi alam ng negrang magIna

    ReplyDelete
Beside it's impossible that the mother and daughter doesnt know. Hindi nga nakauwi Si E DiBa?!! So alam nila yon, they should fix it.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Hmm hindi nga basta basta pautang ala bang nag guaranty. Sure meron yan! Malaking halaga yon du biro!

    ReplyDelete
  55. 10:01 kasi di naman sikat. Gusto mo ba manood ng concert ng ganun itsura?

    ReplyDelete
  56. October 7, 2011 9:56 AM ikaw kaya muna mag investigate bago mo sabihin kawawa ang manager. And where did you get that PDC checks story? Obviously you don't even know the story. The reason it's posted here is because the letter sender is seeking help from FP because he may be able to help.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree with 11:45. You should know first the story. Maghahabol ba Kung walang hahabulin? Ikaw ba nakatanggap ng cheke aber!??!

    ReplyDelete
  58. BUSINESS CLASS WALA NAMAN BUSINESS!!! HEHEHEHEEHE!!

    ReplyDelete
Vip na nga tickets mo amounting to 10k++ each pero pagdating dun may VVIP pa pala! Eh libre naman tickets na yun! Pero sila mas nasa unahan! Unfair! Kaya yan lesson sa mga agency to treat people fairly!
Yun lang po.. Hehe naghinga lang ng sama ng loob.. Hehe

    ReplyDelete
  60. How can this serve as a lesson to all? The letter writer obviously wants to embarrass the singer so that the latter would pay for the plane tickets.
    October 7, 2011 4:57 AM

For Php440,000, wouldn't you do the same? Demand letters ignored, the manager/singer can't be contacted etc. Now tell me, what's a better way to get their attention?

    ReplyDelete
Sus.

    ReplyDelete
  62. duh? syempre ang ibiBI dito yung mag-inang artista. bakit? kilala b ng mga tao yung manager? para mo makilala kung sino yung manager, syempre dapat kilala mo muna kung sinong yung artistang hinahandle na. from that, mas mapapadali ang pag-gugoogle mo.

  64. more clues!!i always watch tfc kapamilya!! pls

    ReplyDelete
  65. don't have any clues, pero kkhiya un ah. Malaki laki din un.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hay I feel for the travel agent. If you do business it's inevitable na magpautang normal lang yun especially if somebody vouched for them. I mean who would think that they can't pay that amount?! May show naman Si J, so yun gusto lang man-DAYA ? O makaisa?! Its unfair to judge that people give special treatment to celebrities actually some think that they are cheap ESP those who act as if they own the world, yun pala freebie lng lagi. It's so cheap another social climbing and nagpipilit story typical of a no delicadeza celebrity.

    ReplyDelete

That's my opinion.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  71. It's unthinkable that J can't pay that amount. Baka nga madAYA lang. Ahahahahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  72. the manager ignored the demand letter.. why didnt u just sue them?

    ReplyDelete
  73. I can somehow understand why the agency has not yet sued the parties involved. Litigation is costly and can drag on for years. Albeit lawyers' fees would exceed the amount to be recovered. They should pay up definitely.

    ReplyDelete
Haaay

    ReplyDelete
  75. True ang sinabi ni Oct 7, 2011 12:19PM. I am an elite member and was at the business class line of the check in counter and infront of me is a celebrity and co, I thought that they are on business class but to my surprise their tickets are economy and was given a mabuhay pass for the use of the lounge at tatlo sila ha not only that I didn't see them at the economy section of the plane. I would know coz I was seated near the entrance of the plane. It is just so unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  76. hi michelle, i know who the manager is medyo bitch nga and mukhang pera. infairness, tag hirap talaga yang J singer na yan, umuutang pa yan because his husband does not have a decent job. yun na! bakit kailangang, puso ay masaktan, hindi na maintindihin....haay!

    ReplyDelete
  77. LOL giving P440,000 worth of tickets to someone you don't know and letting them use it before they pay you? Even your closest friends can screw you over. Sheer stupidity. Sue them already.

    ReplyDelete
Kung ordinaryong tayo yan, kahit 1 way papuntang cebu from manila, di nyo papautangin! Hahahaha!

    ReplyDelete
  79. If you want them to pay you back . You have to give better clues

    ReplyDelete
  80. lamonika, di pa ba enuf yung clues for you? re. bayad whether you like it or not whoever uses the ticket is liable. sayo naka issue eh. anyway ano kwenta ng PDC kung walang pondo?!! papel lang yun noh.

    ReplyDelete
  81. re. pautang - it is normal basta matino kausap. yun lang nga too bad natapat sila sa hindi okay. manager dapat maglabas muna ng pera to protect her/his talent. kung sa iba kasi hindi na ito aabot sa blog ni FP. since pera lang naman ang issue.

    ReplyDelete
  82. pay up so there will be no issue at all...

    ReplyDelete
  83. hay kacheapan ito ha.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  85. 4:59 really wala palang work ang asawa ni j. Kaya pala hirap.

    ReplyDelete
  86. Why the singer? It's because she has a reputation to protect unlike the manager who is unknown.

    ReplyDelete
  87. PATUKA NA LANG SILA SA AHAS 

    ReplyDelete
  88. "Her mother, on the other hand, decided to stay there for a little longer."

---nanay, alam mo namang walang kinita ang anak mo at malamang walang pambayad, bakit ka pa nagpaiwan?

pero... since si manager ang nakipagtransact, it's her fault. unless the singer told her too dba?

    ReplyDelete
Ano ba yun? Baka di sya makabalik. Managers transact in behalf of their talents, so I guess the singer knows.

    ReplyDelete
  90. nakakadisappoint lang yung mga comments about glutathione and "negra" na para bang may atraso sa kanila mismo yung mga na-BI dito.

    ang anonymity nga naman, oo.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete

Hehehe :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. the manager should be liable.. but i think alam nung singer ito (imposible namang di nia alam) and since it's her name that will be at stake dapat gumawa sia ng paraan to settle or kahit makipag usap manlang dba?

    ReplyDelete
  95. fp whats your email add?just want to share some stories that u may like to BI..:)

    ReplyDelete
  96. Dear Anonymous 1:43,
Send your stories to michaelsylim@gmail.com. I will be waiting. =)

    ReplyDelete
  97. Kaya nga! Who would have thought the singer was the 1 to blame even the manager arranged the tix for them.. The letter sender surely knows who to use inorder to get heard.

    ReplyDelete
  98. @anon oct7 9:46pm

Totally agree with you! But damages are done im sure may naipon nman ung singer from her noontime shows para maibyad na ang nararapat. Maybe she thought of it that way but instead cya pa ngayun amd diniin sa kasalanang d nman nya ginawa. Im pretty sure she doesnt know about it. Why in the hell of her falling career would she think of destroying her name?

    ReplyDelete
  99. to the commenter who said papel lang ang pdc, just so you know mas madali kasi kasuhan pag may bouncing checks kaya usually yan ang hinihingi for loans, rent, etc... :)

    ReplyDelete

  107. I saw the trailer of the issue in startalk today. :)) ill be watching it later

    ReplyDelete
  108. It was shown at the start of startalk a few weeks back but I think the whole story wasn't shown, I heard from a friend that the manager tried to call the agent as well as the show so it won't ruin the reputation of her alaga. The case will push through Accdng to sources bec they haven't settled the amount. It's such a shame that they don't know what HIYA means.
