The Inspiration of Princess Beatrice's Hat

Princess Beatrice, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, was chosen as the worst dressed Royal Wedding guest by The Times Live. She paired her Valentino Haute Couture dress and coat with a Philip Treacy hat.

I think this melon/buko scraper was the inspiration of Princess Beatrice's hat designer. What do you think?

  2. The Valentino dress is fine. Its that horrible make up and that mirrored shape Treacy hat thats scary. I wouldn't be surprise if the evil queen from snow white's gonna throw an apple on her face.

  4. hi mike. i believe it is Princess Eugenie of York you are referring to (as shown on the picture), not Princess Beatrice. =)

  5. The dress is divine but the hat makes me whine.

  6. ok. im sorry mike. lack of royal knowledge here. :p it's Princess Beatrice nga. they look so alike ni Princess Eugenie kasi. :p

  8. I actually thought her crazy hat was the best thing I've seen all week.

  9. Princess Eugenie had an awful dress. This is princess Beatrice na maganda sana ang dress. However, she is spearheading Britain's effort to communicate with aliens in outer space. Its an important cause kaya kahit kasal ng cousin may antenna pa rin sya.

  10. inspired by the female reproductive system: uterus and fallopian tubes...

  11. I think she looked very nice in my own opinion. It's something everyone wouldn't appreciate that much. She really stood out. I liked it.

  13. Actually, gusto ko naman yung suot ni Princess Beatrice. I mean just look at the detail around the neckline. I also liked its languid tone.

And the blue topper? Parang nag-grocery muna para sa prutas.

Altogether, it looked like someone let Cinderella's stepsisters out of the cage.

  14. Sayang. The dress was very nice. The hat was strange. The makeup I think was ok--if there had been a different hat.

Princess Eugenie was IMHO quite dowdily attired in her floral blue top with the weird skirt that needed an ironing.

My new thing learned from this royal wedding? What a fascinator is. :)

  15. The second I saw P.B. step out of their car, that "origami ribbon" looking hat literally stole the limelight from the sisters! It's really the "worst hat" at the wedding, I was one of many who were tweeting about it! haha...
Can;t believe it's also made by THE Philip Treacy!

  16. i'd like to commend princess beatrice for being such a risk-taker in fashion. this is something that majority would normally dislike, but whatever! fashion is an art -- subjective in nature, a medium of expression.

  17. I think it's a horrible hat and even if I could afford Philip Treacy, I wouldn't waste money into buying that sorry piece of accessory.

That said, I applaud Princess Beatrice for the move. I doubt she didn't know the fascinator looks funny and (kinda) pathetic, but maybe she did it out of, say, love of fashion. It's not what most of us would wear, but in doing so, she accomplished something not many of them had: be the talk of the town aside from Kate Middleton herself.

She knew she couldn't beat her new cousin-in-law in beauty, so the hat did something for her. So I say bravo! Nicely done!

  19. The two princesses are the lady gaga of the royal family. Even if it makes them the "worse",they still leaves a mark. LOL

  20. buti na lang hindi gumagalaw ung isaw hat....or it will really scare the hell out of me!

  21. maganda nman ung dress (including her) but the zombie make-up and the toilet bowl isnt..chos! (nagsasabi lang ng totoo)

  22. Natawa naman ako with the isaw comment LOL! :D

  23. dapat kay Mich Dulce na lang sila nagpagawa ng hat....for sure mas may WOW factor coz they're cute and unique too!

  24. She wore gorgeous Valentino, but I think the hat (obviously) and the makeup (why so much eyeliner?!?!?) ruined the outfit.

But I agree with the comment on Princess Eugenie. That dress was godawful. I don't care if it's Vivienne Westwood. It was ugly and looked like something someone 30 years older would wear (and it still won't look good). Heck, Princess Anne's dress was better than hers, and it wasn't even that good.

  25. hindi kaya kasama siya ni sitsiritsit at alibangbang? (batibot days)

o kaya naman.. siya ang long lost member ng teletubbies.

  26. i honestly think she did well ---- attention grabbing yes but you have to admit its kinda chic and it works

  28. face it, di nya carry the hat even if she's a princess or should i say, thank goodness she's a princess. her face is cartoony enough without the hat.. i seriously think hat maker did it on purpose.he probably is not fond of her.

  29. @Stefan Punongbayan: Baliktad tayo--I want her hat but not the dress although I do appreciate the design. I wish she didn't put on that much eyeliner though.

Haha, yes, I am a latecomer to the fandom of Fashion Pulis.
