Cancellation of RISQ Design Competition Breaks Fashion Students' Hearts

As a teacher, it breaks my heart when I see the hard work of my students put to waste. I can only imagine the disappointment of the students and mentors of the fashion design schools when they received news earlier today that RISQ, a fashion show/design competition scheduled to be staged tomorrow at the World Trade Center, was cancelled.

This fashion show/design competition was conceptualized by two entrepreneurs, Ms. Kristine Soguilon, President and CEO of Indios Bravos Multimedia, and Ms. Cristina Tanseco-Guerrero, Managing Director of Ideal Events International. The competition promised its winner prizes including cash amounting to One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Pesos (P150,000), a fashion business start-up portfolio, and features in major broadsheets and fashion magazines.

Ms. Soguilon informed participating fashion schools that the event tomorrow will no longer push through because her investor backed out. The mentors of the fashion schools were devastated to hear the sad news. They feel bad for the time, effort and money that their students have invested in the past months preparing for the much anticipated competition.

As producers, they should be accountable to the all the participants involved in the said event. It is not the problem of the participants if they did not raise enough funds. Cancelling the event a day before because of the said reason is totally unacceptable.

  1. That's insane!!! They should have a back up plan. I'm just surprised they're not getting sued.. Pwede ba naman yan?! 1 day before?!

  2. admin, why dont you tag her na?

  3. Poor kids, not just the kids, the mentors, the models and the staff. Hindi biro itong effort na nasayang. You should follow up on this so it doesn't happen again on poor unfortunate souls. Nagback-out the very last minute, isn't beforehand ang investor may money down na and what about contracts? Is it not in black and white, either that or this KRISTINE SOGUILON is a big, fat liar. She should be thrown in jail!

  5. if only the producer knows how much effort the students have exerted to come up with 11 garments...that's not a big joke... that's more like preparing for Fashion Week...

  8. I heard Kristine Soguilon is affiliated with another company not Frontrow cos she was terminated there, I heard its Top One Global Enterprise owned by Timmothy Lee.

  9. Yes, and they did cancel the show the day before. all our student contestant was so devastated and frustrated. unfortunately they are all new in the business. some of them did ask help from their parents... hard earn money. dapat kase from the beginning naging honest na ang organizer... tapos now ituturo samen yung producer na in reality dapat out na kame don. kase sila naman nag coordinate samen at nangulit sa mga schools. obviously thi is a BIG SCAM kase they are selling tickets also...

  11. what does Top One Global Enterprise and Frontrow have to do with this? FOCUS on the issue at hand.

  12. Grabe we were all expecting to push through with this event! Tapos eto pa nangyari, last minute na cancel yung show. Mahirap kaya mag isip, mag conceptualize at mag tahi ng 11 sets all by ourselves.

Those responsible should pay back for damages sa lahat.

I will make sure na pagbabayaran mo lahat ng ginawa mo.

  16. I know Kristine Soguilon. If you can only see her statements in her facebook.

    Wala syang ginagawang masama.
Buti sana kung pinagtataguan nya kayong lahat but she is not.

And regading Frontrow, sorry pero wag na kayo makisawsaw. If you want to have marketing for your company then do it in a right manner and not by using someone's name.

  17. it's actually seen here in this link provided, that she is part of the multi-level company --> " Frontrow Philippines Inc. is handled by a team of professionals headed by three noted creative minds in today’s media production scene....KRISTINE SOGUILON, artist-photographer and owner of Indios Bravos Multimedia..."

  18. Come on guys! People make mistakes!

KS has great talent in photography.. yes not in fashion but hello. Come on guys.. We're all part of the fashion industry..

If you can only see Kristine's statements on her Facebook. Wala siyang pinagtataguan. Good people admit their mistakes. People make mistakes.. There's always a reason why bad things happen to a should-be fantastic show like the Risq.

    Walang pinagtataguan si KS.

Walang kinalaman ang Frontrow and Top1 Global Enterprise here. This is Risq fashion show and the flaw na hindi nakapag-push thru sa show.

    I repeat... everyone makes mistakes!

  19. um about dun sa mga neteworking na company. kristine was a great partner and photographer in frontrow and blends well with the owners.. dati yun nung kelangan pa sya.. ngayon... baka talagang sadyang di lang nya siguro nakayanan dun.....

  20. That KS girl really did so much harm to my designer friends. As in. She can like go all high and mighty saying she's going to pay and repair damages like as if she's just putting a bandaid on some superficial sugat. Spoken like a true spoiled girl who feels like she can just pay off people without sincerely expressing personal remorse.

I mean come on, there has to be some public apology. Some emotional accountability. If she can run a PR with her photos crediting herself of the genius of this project, we all think that she needs to come out bravely, publicly with an apology, considering that young designers, suppliers and reputable schools have lost confidence in her character. Unless she wants to be banned from a very small industry where everyone knows everyone.

  21. ay magaling siya na photographer?

...di rin. Her works are ugly!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Some people are really close minded. Magaling naman naman talaga si K.S ah! her works are good! very creative! kaya nga siya kinuha ng modelling agency (daw) networking company naman. just to get her ideas and porke may nangyari lang... bgla niyo sasabihin na k.s. is not or never part of your company? pls... don't fool yourselves! maraming nakakaalam nito! and sa mga presentations niyo you're using her name to attract and fool models. Kailan ka nakakita yung model ang nagbabayad para maging model? dapat diba models are being paid, kaya nga models eh.

    ReplyDelete
  23. i think most of the people who hated KS for this have gone way out of the line. They shouldn't include two marketing companies in here cause it's a different industry from modeling. If you want to argue with her, don't stab her in the back.So sad people nowadays have no PROFESSIONALISM AND ETHICS.

    ReplyDelete
  24. hahaha oo nga. over over using that tubig tubig concept. I heard she's just visible on print dahil sa "connections" nya sa mga art directors (?). well that's what her so-called close friends say. I dont wanna know what she did in return. and that front row thing is so deceiving grabe.

    ReplyDelete
  25. she did modeling rin pala.
    what a laugh.
    can somebody just please
do her the favor and splash
    cold water to her
    over ambitious face.

  26. I BET YOU KNOW WHERE THE MONEY WENT..... TO FIX HER BAD ASS NOSE JOB AND TO ADD MORE RETOKE. WHAT SHE DID TO THE STUDENTS WAS UNFORGIVABLE. I DONT CARE IF SHE FEELS KAWAWA OR WHAT, BUT MAS MADAMI SIYANG KINAWAWA, SHE DESTROYED WHAT THESE STUDENTS WORKED SO HARD FOR. BOTTOMLINE.

    ReplyDelete
  27. If in the 1st place she had so-called funds to produce and push through with this show, in theory YES she might have had the $$$ kasi nga naman diba

She is being paid with her other sources of income like those two money grabbing marketing or shall I say, scamming companies.

and I bet that's not the only source/s of income diba since shes a "well known" and "talented" photographer.

    but then. lo and behold,

bakit siya nawalan ng "investors"? at the last minute? Isn't it normal that if a person proposes a business plan to someone who has the capacity to invest $$ in this venture then they will study the proposal throughly, knowing that money doesn't and will not grow on tress. Thing is, are there even investors in the first place?

Yes, everyone makes mistakes. true but we always learn from it, and most of the time, its the hard way.

My heart goes out to the students. No ONE deserves to be treated like that.

  28. Guys please watch your manners!
bago niyo husgahan c kristine Soguilon, magisip isip po kau. masyodo kau nagpapadala s bali balitang mali at baluktot. 29. The people she hired should not have to care as to why she didn't have money to produce the show. Bottomline, she said she had the money, she promised to pay and she failed to do so. Moreover, she had no sense of accountability whatsoever, to cancel the event at a decent time.

    ReplyDelete
