Ang Isinanlang BIRKIN (The Pawned BIRKIN)

designer carrying the Birkin before he pawned it

If the Louis Vuitton Speedy is the gateway to luxury, the Hermes Birkin is definitely the epitome of luxury.  Designers are exposed to the world of luxury and sometimes they feel the pressure to keep up with the Joneses.  This was what happened to one popular designer.

The designer bought this Hermes Birkin (40cm in Tan) from DR, an Hermes reseller, on an installment basis.  The buyer did not have a checking account (why? don't you have a business?) so he promised to give cash for the monthly payments. When it was time for the monthly collection, the buyer was nowhere to be found.  He refused to answer DR's calls and when DR got hold of the sister, he was told that the buyer went to the USA (convenient excuse for "estafadores").  This upset DR (it's a six digit bag!), so he threatened to sue him (not effective).  Common friends finally offered to help recover the Birkin but the bag was missing in action.  Where did the Birkin go?

THE BUYER PAWNED THE BIRKIN IN BAGAHOLIC !!!
(mind blowing tongue twister).

Can you imagine pawning something not yours?  The buyer told DR that he could not raise enough cash to retrieve the Birkin so DR agreed to share the burden.  The worst part was the buyer could not even give 100% of his share.  Sad, sadder, saddest!

Do you know who pawned the Birkin?
Clue:  You can spot him in the glossy magazines carrying it.

By the way, this designer has a stylist friend who bought an Hermes Herbag from DR.  He did not pay for it as well.  "Birds of the same feather flock together."  Oh..... wait, this will require another post!

  1. thats the problem with some people, mahilig sa hulugan, ndi naman pala kaya. ang sosyal nga ng mga bags, jewelries, watches, kotse... etc lahat naman pala utang. i think mas maganda ung you just live to the level of your status pero wala kang utang. nobody will laugh at you magpaka totoo ka lng.

  4. As always, it's about trying to be something they are not. Bakit di na lang kasi magpakatotoo. Meron ka ngang mamahaling bag, pero alam naman ng mga tao na utang sya, so ganun pa rin, di sosyal dating mo...trying hard lang. =P Susme. Kakahiya!

  8. It is my dream to get a Birkin in croc someday. It costs at least 45,000USD. If I get rich from blogging which I think is impossible =).

  12. LOSERS! if you can't afford it, don't buy it. why make a bag an indication of your standing in life? gosh, if this is P.Q. again, he should just concentrate on improving his craft & his work ethics so that he gains the respect of people and that will speak more of who he is than an hermes bag that he can't even pay for in gives. GEEZ!!

  23. This is a typical modus operandi of some people who wants to get the easy money.

Kaya ingat na lang tayo because maraming ganyan sa mundo. Manloloko at namemera lang.

  24. What a shame.. Kung walang pambili wag ipilit!

Since the Birkin is too pricey (and too bigat as well) and that Banana Taipei is still pricey. I'll just buy that one in SM. looks like the Banana Taipei. Di pa nakakahinayang kung masira or madumihan :))

  25. sabi ng asawa ko ibibili daw ako ng lindy bag for my birthday this month, at ang sagot ko, no honey its a waste of money, lol.. true story.

  26. I would rather buy a no brand bag with a nice design than a fake brand that i would be ashamed to carry!!

  27. With the worth of the bag? I would rather own a house. The bag won't shelter you from the heat, cold, rain, and typhoon. Owning that kind of bag is a privilige. If one has money to burn eh di GORA! Kung wala huwag pilitin. Sabi nga diba, don't live beyond your means. Masisira pangalan mo ng dahil sa bag? Kaloka yan.
